31. Stop your mouth, full of hate and nothing more!!
Ralph ,   Roma, Italy   (08.12.10)
When I see ANY kind of public stoning like that I am horrified. From the all of the comments here I see only hate and idiotic spitting over the leftist side. I agree with you to some extent. I, too, do not believe the leftist propaganda and ideology as a believable solution. I think, like you, that some ideas of their may be dangerous. My heart sinks, however, when I see you. Anyone engaging in such an idiotic public stoning is a millionfold more dangerous than a leftist, for the state of Israel. Any solution to our problem, I think, must be an INTELLIGENT one. Not one coming from violent fascist bullies like you.
32. Sad!!!!
Ariel ,   Tel Aviv   (08.12.10)
Is really bad to hit a journalist for doing his job. RIGHT/LEFT?? doesn't matter, even the IDF is ashamed for this soldiers actions!! Reading this talkbacks is SAD, sad to see people with so much hate. We are ALL Jews in a Jewish country. Think before you write !
33. journoList
Argaman ,   Battle Creek MI   (08.12.10)
Here in Battle Creek, a local city councilwoman used her cell phone to take pictures of a police officer scuffling with a person resisting arrest. The councilwoman was arrested and convicted of interfering with a police officer who was acting in the line of duty. She served 3 days in the sheriff's lockup and give a year's probation.
34. #31 - stonings=bad, blood libel=good?
William ,   Israel   (08.12.10)
So, you feel awful when someone is publicly stoned but when someone destroys another, not with stones but with words, that's ok? Words are the weapons of choice by goons from Haaretz, and though they might not leave a physical mark they do damage, and for them, the more damage the better. In the name of "journalism" losers like these go after "shock value" when creativity and talent have been exhausted. Why this journalist was in the West Bank and not hanging out in a coffee shop in London waiting for the next "righteous Leftist spy" to pass on secrets is beyond me.
35. wow, even attack yourselves
PaulB ,   Cairns Australia   (08.12.10)
What a warmongering, divided little hellhole Israel is descending into. That's what happens when you let psychopaths call (or fire) the shots.
36. a free press is key to credibility for IDF
Galut ,   selah   (08.12.10)
It keeps the IDF honest in days where israelis are strugling to have good PR ....incidents of this nature does not help
37. I keep hearing how Israel
Bobo McGoggins ,   Boston, USA   (08.12.10)
is the only liberal democracy in the middle east. Sure looks like fascism to me.
38. Ralph @ 31, you do not see it, but what happened is
leo ,   usa   (08.12.10)
simply defensive reaction of defiant body. Leftist ideology is being regurgitated from all over the Western World and Israel. I hope it will continue until we all are completely cured. Oh, and spare me your cheap epithets. It is not working.
39. Israeli dictatorship
Perico ,   Spain   (08.12.10)
I read the comments here and it´s really sad how the citizens of the supposed only "democracy" in the Middle East want to forbid the freedom of speech and the dissenters beaten. I can´t tell the difference between this and a totalitarian state which Israel is heading, sadly for the rest of the world.
40. I couldn't do my job if a journalist videotaped every moment
Michael ,   Toronto   (08.12.10)
I would also find it hard to work if people known for assisting my enemies stood around videotaping every movement for later when they could edit the hours of footage to their hearts delight. Soldiers (not police) should have the ability to restrict journalists from being in the area and to remove them from the area if need be.
41. Haaretz Reporter
Enoch ,   Toronto   (08.12.10)
Couldn`t happen to a nicer guy. Haaretz doesn`t have reporter, but rather ``activists`` and other Israel haters left wing nuts.
42. No sympathy for reporter
george ,   ashdod   (08.12.10)
Did I get this straight? The Haaretz reporter who never has anything good to say about the IDF was trying to take a picture of an IDF soldier who was trying to get a settler to stop doing something. Undoubtedly the reporter would have used the picture to smear the IDF officer--when, in fact, the soldier was doing exactly was Haaretz advocates. I would have stepped on the reporter's phone.
43. i'm missing something
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (08.12.10)
LIke others have said I saw no one beaten up. I did see a reporter--in the middle of the soldiers/police. Since when is it the right of any press to be in the middle, right up close. Hey--I'm a right-winger--I am not happy with what happened in Jericho BUT two wrongs don't make a right and in the case the government is wrong in not allowing us to visit a synagogue and the reporter is wrong for thinking he can go wherever he wants.
44. HAARETZ .. NOT RESPECTED BY ISRAELI CITIZENS
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (08.12.10)
AND HAARETZ HAS NOT DONE MUCH IN ORDER TO RECEIVE RESPECT FROM THE ISRAELI CITIZENS. HAARETZ'S ACTIONS , ATTITUDES HAVE EARNED IT MUCH DESERVED CRITICISM AND SUSPICIONS AS TO IT'S ANTI-ISRAEL BEHAVIOUR. THERE IS VERY LITTLE RESPECT FOR IT'S HONESTY OR INTEGRITY.
45. HAARETZ REPORTER TRIPPED UP BY HIS EXTREME LEFT FOOT
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (08.12.10)
46. What is the fate of Haaretz reporters?
Liad   (08.12.10)
It is written that the punishment of the liar is that even when he tells the truth is not believed. (Avot Chap IV)
47. Haaretz reporter
Dorothy neema ,   Nairobi, Kenya   (08.12.10)
If there are people with JUDAS ISCARIOT SPIRIT are news reporters, the dont mind even seling their on country to enemies in the name of money and fame. shame on them.
48. #37; Bobo, yes this one incident...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.12.10)
Should be used to judge all of Israeli policy, Brilliant! Frankly, only a bigot would draw a conclusion from one isolated incident. Let us hope people don't look to the Rodney King fiasco as typical of all U.S. Law enforcement. Personally, having worked out at the gym with many cops (i.e. city, county, state etc) and found most to be good guys who take their jobs seriously, and perform it exceptionally well. But I guess you would think they are all fascist as well as the U.S. government, based solely on the Rodney King episode. Impressive thought process.
49. IDF looks awful
Peter ,   Los Angeles,USA   (08.13.10)
Frumpy, tattered, torn and dirty uniforms. Equipment and weopons poorly maintained. Soldiers are soft , undisciplined, wimpish. Officers not leading or controlling their troops. They have the look of demoralized rabble. Obviously, they are capable of beating a reporter but no wonder they have performed so poorly when confronted with an enemy that actually fights back.
50. IDF Justice
tommy ,   ireland   (08.17.10)
Chaim,Is. Some democarcy you claim. This so called moral army attacking journalists. Immageing what the do if he was a Palestinian. And you want to close down this paper shame on you and Israel.
