35. 28 , the "rapper"
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.19.10)
I'm talking to everyone in his own tongue . I remember that in the torah , moshe was told [ ????? ] to talk to everyone in this way . In a smart way to smart people and so on , in simple words to simple people . You have not read many of my tb's , or have'nt any memory . I have already said why Jews have the right to live in this country , so i have'nt to repeat it to you . Maybe it was to difficult for you to understand , so you forgot it .
36. 24 , let them stay in the dark middle ages then
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.19.10)
37. You can stumble into a pit when your in one
Josh   (08.19.10)
The cultic information control by the Rabbis is so apparent. If a yeshiva student had half a brain he would read Devarim and note it is the only book written by a prophet in the first person. Based on the closed contract f Devarim if he were honest, he would never enter the doors again. in fact any Jewish person could do the same. Enough of the rabbis playing Moses as a fool who could not communicate without a interpreter present for the Hebrews to get it. Ten levels?! Bunk.
38. #20 you just described a muslim girl
kuhl blitz ,   Doha / Chennai   (08.19.10)
hehehehe...... She wears 'Burqa' (not naqab covering the face) - so, that she doesn't incite any male. - so, on the street, every girl is in black, loose fitting dress (called burqa), and every other girl is also in the same dress. SHe removes burqa only at her home (to her husband).
39. I do not know if there is a God or not
Raptor   (08.19.10)
and frankly I do not care. If there is one then he created all things under the sun and even the sun itself. Nature and all its contents and inhabitants are designed with beauty and I never stop gazing at them with awe and wonderment. In my opinion one the most beautiful things that God or Nature created is the female body. Why should anybody be denied the pleasure of such a sight. It is a fact that through the medium of art the female body has been iconoclastic from time immemorial, why should ultra orthodox young boys be told this is "filth" when normal people regard it as beauty and art.
40. Ayatollah Yusuf the biggest clown of them all

44. 3G Phones
ZSI   (08.19.10)
One can surf the 'Net even w/ 2G phones. Maybe without as pleasant experience, but can none-the-less. As before, technology is not evil, and to forbid technology is to forbid cars, electricity, etc. The idea is to teach how to use them properly (if they want, they can do a filtering system, Cellcom, for example has a deal with Internet Rimon). At the end of Deuteronomy G-d tells us that he puts before us the choice of life and death, and commands us to choose life. For someone to take away that choice, 1) they are taking away our free will to do good and evil a basis to life in this world, 2) they are making the determination over G-d what is good and what is not (e.g. G-d never said Sex is evil, therefore don't have any relations, just that certain relations are immoral and to stay away from them, to help create a holy society). 3) If one tries to grab onto too much, they will grab onto nothing at all - they are throwing the baby out w/ the bathwater. By forbiding a choice they aren't helping one to choose 'good', they are making a person into an automoton and not allowing them to florish.
45. another step backwards by a backwards looking man
JEWBIE ,   NYC USA   (08.19.10)
head in the sand forever...a myopic superstitious nonsensical espousement by someone who is supposed be a modern Jew... NAH, he's just another speed bump in a secular and democratic Israel....don't listen to his fears and ignorance, GO 3G GO 4G, go bravely into the future and don't linger in the far past with those who fear, loathe and disdain democracy and technology...I also believe thre is dimentia and senility here as well!..sorry!
46. Old fashioned views
Yehudit ,   CT, USA   (08.19.10)
To #20, Rivka, I agree with you that women and men should not dress provocatively, however, I disagree with you that women need to be absolutely plain in their appearance. Women can feel good about how they look and still be modest. If some man becomes turned on by looking at a modest woman who is minding her own business, then it is not her fault, but his for looking at her and not being a very good man. It is not the woman's fault. Men need to take responsibility for their actions as well.
47. Avi , mike . What's the problem with his outfit ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.19.10)
do you look at the outside , the "package" or what's inside ? not appropriated to our weather ? so what ? Do you suffer from it ? is it this that disturbe's you ? A very small argument you bring in here to oppose him .
48. # 47 Charles
Sagi   (08.19.10)
Shallow thinking Charles mon ami. His dress is a symptom and a symbol of his sick mind. His mind is sick because he lives in the past and refuses to catch up with modernity. He is in this state because all his life has been spent with his nose stuck in "holy books". Any person, Rabbi or not, who believes that he should live by the tenets of a book written thousands of years ago, and pertaining to conditions which prevailed then, is a sad excuse for a human being. What makes it more sad is the fact that he compels others to do likewise by issuing edicts.
49. Rivkah # 20
Sagi   (08.19.10)
The "God" that you worship created women with the ability to "tempt" men as you say. This was the intention. Men were given the ability to be "tempted". Any denial of this or any suppression of this is against "God's will" , or as I see it against Nature. Calling sexuality a "sin" or "filth" is utterly stupid and irresponsible.
50. Waste of Education
Ron ,   Melborne, Australia   (08.20.10)
If years of time education in Yeshiva (presumably with ability to critic more then the mishna), with cultural norms , etc - serve as no constraint once you stumble on 'Sex in the City the Movie' site - then I guess humans are doomed. Any little distraction and they go right to the bottom - OR is it that the Rabbi thinks so little of his flock - I think that latter is more the case. If you spend your life in ignorance - learning ever so more on less and less (of human knowledge - which grows) - Yes, you will stumble - ignorance can not protect you unless you live in a bubble.
51. Mike 48 . The robe does'nt make the monk
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.20.10)
It's not his outfit that influences him . The same as your religious leaders , they also have medieval robes and hats , walk around in processions carrying images of their "holy" people . Certainly as , if not more , ridiculous as Ovadia Yossef
52. Weak followers
The Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (08.20.10)
I'm always impressed in how weak and shallow the education of these people must be if they don't trust their followers to maintain the values they have been taught.

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.21.10)
You with your superstitions .
59. 38 Kurl Blitz: It is sad that protecting the eyes of males
Rivkah   (08.22.10)
is necessary. Holy means set apart or separate. It is not for everyone. But for those who want to please Yahweh by not causing others to sin, one needs to dress modestly. I found the Jewish women with long white blouses and long black skirts to be modest looking and still feminine without being alluring. It is not necessary to wear a burka, but attention needs to be given to avoiding attire that is alluring or sexually provocative. My grandmothers never to my knowledge wore swimming suits or shorts. If they sat by the community pool watching the children, they were modestly dressed. Nowadays, going to a swimming party means having to look at breasts hanging out of tops and pubic hair out of swimsuit bottoms. How can that be pleasing to the Lord? If the aim in life is to please the Lord, then being worldly in one's attire has to be sacrificed.
