1. Talkbacker: stop Amar from insulting others' beliefs
Talkbacker   (08.12.10)
If God has a problem with non-orthodox Jews, he will take it up with them.
2. About Haredim
Ariel ,   São Paulo - Brazil   (08.12.10)
They're responsible for this terrible treachery and are supporting it openly without being ashamed, and now they are sticking their claws into the people residing in Zion and trying to dictate our lifestyle."
3. Even if you are a Rabbi
Sagi   (08.12.10)
and a "chief" one to boot, I say to you go take a long walk of a short pier and and stop telling other people how to dress, worship and behave. Look after your own flock.
4. the reform movement is not our enemy
Golan ,   modiin   (08.12.10)
They do not live in a bubble. They do not push their "traditions" on anyone else (with minor exceptions by media whores who have a symbiotic relationship with media whore Haredim.) And while many of them eat pig and mix meat and dairy, at least they are TRYING. As for secular Israelis, they hate the reform. "either do it right or don;t do it at all" is the pervasive idea.
5. #1 there is a hypocrisy here.
Golan ,   Modiin   (08.12.10)
Refrom Jews who would like to be "recognized" as legitimate Jews are the most vocal in rejecting "Jewish Christianity." The Orthodox are ignorant of Reform Judaism (as are Reform Jews about their own movement) and it would not be hard to get to know one another. It would also be a positive experience I believe.
6. reform and censervative movements are destructibe
david ,   new york   (08.12.10)
they have killed off millions of american jews and now look to go to israel to suck more blood. if you don't believe in god and don't pratice judaism, you don't need to make your own religion to match what you don't do and what you don't believe. does israel really need lesbian rabbis? they have a nearly unlimited amount of money to use to prey on naive israelis who don't know who these people really are. we need to educate israelis on who these people are and what they stand for since they try to hide it.
7. anti-missionising
david ,   new york   (08.12.10)
i think that a good thing to do would be to have ex-reform and conservative people from the US speak to people who go to these places and inform them about what reform and conservative are all about. people could stand outside reform and conservative temples and do anti-missionary work.
8. Mr Amar, stop throwing the stone,
aviG   (08.12.10)
ur no better.
9. Rabbi forgets that many inside Israel are in these movements
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (08.12.10)
10. Better yet: take all religion out of the Israeli government
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (08.12.10)
Would save us millions of dollars every year
11. What Israelis need to know
Yehudit ,   CT, US   (08.12.10)
...is that Reform and Conservative Jews, who make Aliyah to Israel, are happy to serve in the IDF, work in the communities, create businesses and jobs for other Israelis, and pay taxes. They are not interested in telling other Israelis how to live their lives. They are not a burden to the Israeli taxpayers. Of course the Haredi don't want progressive religious Jewish institutions in Israel because it show Israelis just how they are being duped by the Orthodox leaders in the Knesset. Wake up Israel before you turn into another Iran.
12. Wrong, Mr. Amar!
Heather Czerniak ,   Mississauga, Canada   (08.12.10)
It is you Orthodox Jews who are trying to get non-Orthodox Jews killed! Israel was re-established to be a place of refuge for Jews regardless of their denomination. All anti-Semites from the Roman Catholic Church to Nazi Germany didn't care what kind of Jew you were, only that you were a Jew. And there are a lot of misconceptions about Jews and Judaism that originated from the Orthodox Jewish community. We're also not happy about the way you Orthodox Jews do circumcisions. Gross!
13. A perfect example.
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.12.10)
This is a perfect example of why so many of us resent the ulta-orthodox and the haridim. They refuse to accept "Live and let live". According to them everybody has to live one way only - their way. Just imagine if anyone tried to say that we must stop them from following their own way of life. They would riot and burn all the trash in Jerusalem.
14. this guy, Amar..
TNT   (08.12.10)
is speaking like a muslim fundamentlaist whts this " a pure an holy nation". TThis is this type of person who make modern jews run away from all thee snake oil sellers that got too long their hands on our religion. I believe in God, not in the rabbis. God judge people for their good deeds, not according a list of do otr don't do arrange d by self styled "priests". The state of Israel should be secular nation. period
15. Rabbi Amar
Daniel ,   London UK   (08.12.10)
The body most responsible for secularism in Israel is the Rabinate itself. It has managed to alienate the non haredi world by substituting darchei no'am with politcal blackmail and extortion. If you want Jews in Israel to become more Jewish, stop coercing them. As a famous Jew once said, "Render unto Ceasar...."
16. Whoooaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!!!
Talula ,   israel   (08.12.10)
The religious are the most disgusting control freaks in the country. Same comments as usual, they don't serve the army, they slob around all day and suck money out of the state. How DARE that demented Loser say such a thing!
17. The Rabbi is right
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (08.12.10)
The reform movement has created another religion through their fake conversions, they are not Jews! BTY polls show that the reformed movement is loosing numbers big time in America.
18. elul started..
go4freedom ,   germany   (08.12.10)
with elul starting, ask for forgiveness and reach out your hand to your palestinian brothers and sisters
19. Strange, I have a same feeling about haredim and datim...
John ,   Europe   (08.12.10)
Influencing galut... ...Constant nagging and not understanding that some communities are so destroyed that kosher food is a luxury (but still insisting on providing glatt and on astronomical prices)... Etc. Oh, well, some people are too good paid for their "job". Here is a law in making that only a members of the community will pay for their respective communities - Catholics will pay for priest's wages, Muslims for imam's, Jews for rabbi's... A secularization in its best, And I like it! Why should I pay imam's wage? Or Abu would pay for my rabbi's? Can you make it in Israel?
20. ??????
Brad ,   USA   (08.12.10)
"thing is the plague of assimilation, which is eating up our PURE AND HOLY NATION????" Can somebody now tell me that Jews do not consider themselves being over all others - and that antisemitism is the logical conclusion to this attitude?
21. Love people that bark at their (illusory) bone !
aviG   (08.12.10)
illusory but worthy for the pockets ...
22. Rabbi Amar wants a theocracy
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot, Israel   (08.12.10)
Rabbi Amar wants a theocracy, he forgets that it was the secular who made modern Israel come to life, fought in the wars and built an economy and that economy feeds his people who would rather study than work. In fact it is the so called orthodox who don’t want to allow any other ideas only their own to exist, who except them think they are correct. Pushed to its extreme orthodoxy will put an end to modern Israel, perhaps this is what they want as the Messiah has not yet arrived.
23. Interesting Issue here, with Sephardim.
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (08.12.10)
Worth asking , I speak as a Sephardi/Mizrahi. I think you will find very few of us attracted to the Consertice,Reform , liberal etc movements, irrespective of the comments of the Marsorti movements spokesperson. Speaking generally, Sephardim seem to cover the entire spectrum from a totally secular person who might only keep Yom Kippur to the deeply observant and religious at the other end. But our Rabbis are Orthodox and so are our Synagogues and we expect them be and we respect them whatever our personal level is. ie we don't seem to sufferer from the division that plagues the Ashkenazi world. For that I am truly greatful and so very proud of us.

HMMM ,   Florida USA   (08.12.10)
Any chance of clarifying the part about whacking out goim who theoretically get in some ultra orthodox persons way.. you know overheated imagination? hope so. The King's Torah, religious instruction? Or perhaps having to do with " bloodlines, hmmm exclusion.
27. orthodox judiasm is being driven out by reform
zionist forever   (08.12.10)
It is a fact that to most Israelis religion is having less and less importance in their lives and they either support reformist policies or they just don't give a dam about religion one way or another. I came here 10 years ago and the country is defaintly more secular where religion has less importance today than it did then. If this continues the concept of a jewish state is going to die and Israel will become just another country where religion is something to be kept behind closed doors and there is a total seperation between state and all faiths. If that happens Israel has no reason to justifiably exist. It was created for the sole purpose of being a jewish state if its not that it has no reason to be here. The haredi might take to much of a hard line at times but the growing influence of reform orthodox judaism is slowly being driven out . Groups like Masorti don't even know what they stand for they are not even reform so they are a total waste of space.
28. The good rabbi
Pagan ,   Florida USA   (08.12.10)
I firmly believe one day Israel will become a sane country... What percentage of Israeli citizens care about a real peace treaty meeting? How can anyone comprehend what the hell is going on? The lunatics have the keys ( I'm probably one).
29. #24: NOT impressive at all...
Israeli 2   (08.13.10)

30. #16: You ARE a TALULA!
