1. Final days of Bibi
Friedman ,   Princeton, NJ, USA   (08.13.10)
He will be finished soon. Even his wife against the people of Israel. There will be elections in a few months. Bibi is so weak (or silly). Parents go home and leave kids in Israel to prepare them for slave jobs or life of crime -- only Bibi and his not very smart wife could come with this idea.
2. psychological damage
The Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (08.13.10)
Leaving these children in Israel when their parents are sent home would be very psychologically damaging to the children,
3. Excuse me
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.13.10)
It is the duty of the State of Israel to look after Israelis. The children of these guest workers are NOT Israeli; they will never be Israeli. If they bother to learn Hebrew, it is purely by accident. They have no loyalty to Israel, no sense of duty to the State and they gobble up enormous amounts of aid and assistance that, quite frankly, should be spent on Israelis, not foreigners. It is time for the children to leave. Actually, it is time for their parents to leave, too.
4. Sad Days In Israel
Robin ,   US   (08.13.10)
It seems the only men in Israel who have a pair are Yvette, Bogie and Yishai. Your PM & DM are 2 of the biggest wimps around. Likud what were you thinking giving this clown a 2nd chance?
5. to #3
James ,   Australia   (08.14.10)
These kids are being raised in Israel as Israelis. They will learn the language, love the country and defend it too. Can you not see the advantages of having 400 more gentile Zionists in the world? The comment about "enormous" aid is ridiculous too. Why don't you complain about the (actual) enormous amount of tax dollars that are spent on the backward Haredi yeshiva lifestyle, and for the IDF to defend pointless settlements?
6. LOL, THE MAID ABUSER IS CONCERNED ABOUT OTHERS ! CRAZY WOMAN
Ehud ,   ISRATINE   (08.14.10)
7. Sarah #3
Jae ,   Lynn USA   (08.14.10)
For a person who has previously stated that your loyalties lie firmly with Israel even though you are a first generation American citizen you can hardly talk about a sense of duty to the state.Your parents were foreigners when they came to the USA weren’t they? Now you as you have stated before are more loyal to Israel than you are to the USA. Don’t you see your own hypocrisy? As an American whos parents arrived as foreigners you now have greater allegiance to a foreign nation than to the country that you were born in and yet you have the nerve to talk about duty and loyalty? Americans like you make me sick.
8. what to do with 400 Hebrew speaking foreign kids?
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (08.14.10)
a nations assets are it's liabilities
9. Sometimes I wonder who are Israels'
Israeli 2   (08.14.10)
worst enemies. The leftist reform movements or the migrant workers? Migrant workers may yet be pro Israel albeit never Jewish. The leftist reform movements are anti Israeli gentiles anyway.
10. #3 - If the Mother was born in Siri Lanka,
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (08.14.10)
but lived most of her life in Kuwait and israel as legal workers. And the father was from Pakistan, but lived most of his life in Saudi Arabia and Israel, as legal workers. And they got married in Israel and their children were born in Israel and have never lived anywhere else than Israel. Whose responsibility are they? Bring in Foreign Workers to take advantage of their willingness to work for low wages, take responsibility for the consequences.
11. 2 Important points
Kobi ,   San Francisco,CA   (08.14.10)
Why should ISrael absorb another 400 illegals (possibly plus their parents)? Israel already overrode their own immigratinos laws by allowing 800 FOREIGN ILLEGAL Children (and parent) to stay. Why is the focus on 400 illegal + who are to be deported and not on the fact that we already gave residency to 800+ illegals? Typical leftist slant. 2) Is Sarah, Bibi's wife Jewish?
12. Who the hell does she thinks she is???
Phoenix ,   Israel   (08.14.10)
Stupid woman! Israel does not belong to her to take those desicions. Who does she thinks she is??? Queen of Israel??? Shut the Hole up woman! No Intruder has place in the holy land!!! This land it's the land of the People of Israel.
13. #3 sarah
deb ,   uk   (08.14.10)
Spoken like a true xenophobic
14. Yes; they may be allowed to stay if...
Daniel ,   Israel   (08.14.10)
their fathers are Israelis and these kids are born through illicit relationship. If these ladies are working as part time of prostitutes; they should not be allowed here with their illicit children.
15. 1#, Bibi must deal with Iran
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (08.14.10)
If Bibi orders the attack on Iran then all these other distractions will become meaningless. Yet if Iran is allowed to get the nuclear bomb then Bibi will be gone and this time for good. The choice is his. Its time for him to step up as a strong leader.
16. I am schocked
Ben ,   Israel   (08.14.10)
I am shocked about the negative and even discriminating reactions. Are you all forgotten where you came from? Cast out from Israel and scattered over the world. What have hold you all together was it not your families, childern and the compassion of nations that housed and protected you. First there have to be a solution to protect the interest of the children, and then resolve the real problem how you deal with foreign workers. Because you cannot have foreign workers with all the benefits and not allowing them to have families. I am so ashamed, is this really what Israel has become
17. Pros and cons
Sagi   (08.14.10)
Morally and ethically these children should be allowed to stay. Their parents, who should not have been brought here in the first place, were exploited by Israeli society and permitted to overstay. The kids should not suffer for their parents mistake in coming here and for Israel's mistake in letting them in. They were born here and this is the only culture they know. That is the moral argument. From a practical point of view it will be sad and troublesome. These kids will grow into teens and adults with an internal conflict and a dilemma which will haunt them. By the time they reach adulthood this country sadly will be controlled by the ultra orthodox and their various offshoots. these kids will suffer at their hands to an extent that no one at this stage can comprehend. It is not in their interest to stay here.Israel must stop this madness of foreign workers and the warped policy of allowing the invaders from Africa who cross our southern border. They must not be let in and if they do cross they should be sent back immediately and not put in detention centers. Israel is turning out to be not what it was intended to be. The whole thing has gone wrong and haywire.
18. #12 Thank you
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (08.14.10)
There always seems to be an undercurrent of anti-goyism on these talkbacks which is often clouded by what appears to be a hatred simply towards Arabs and the Palestinians in particular. Reading both you and Sarah helps to elucidate that the hatred is much more general. In other countries if the wife of a leader- and a citizen of the state- made no attempt on compassionate grounds it would be troubling.
19. Let's stop being hypocrites... Yishai is right
Daniel ,   TA   (08.14.10)
Let's stop blabbering feel-good nonesense to pat our own egos. Their parents broke the law for a few bucks. Their jewish employers want them to stay here tosave a few bucks. The lefties want them to stay for a moment of feel good satisfaction... They do not add anything to our country, but reducing it to further disorder and just like in europe (seen it with my own eyes as I grew up there), they will destroy society.
20. these kids will go to the army....unlike the
linda ,   ashdod   (08.14.10)
haredim who feed off the state. kol ha'kavod to sara and shame on you all, especially those of you who live in america, to want to throw these kids out.
21. children of economic illegal immigrants r economic refugees
(08.14.10)
The Parents economic illegal immigrants: Their parents came here looking to better then own economic situation and to send money back home. Their parents live on the outer edge of Israeli society...they are marginalized people doing marginal unskilled work. What does this mean for the children? The children are economic refugees and someone (most of the TBers here) is dreaming really heard if they really believe that speaking a language is the principle criteria for making these children mainstream members of the Israeli society. These children of illegal immigrants, like their parents, like the haradim, like the vast majority of Jewish Ethiopian, American and Russian immigrants will remain on the margins of Israeli society. Eventually these children will come to resent Israel and will have no way to return home. The true kindness would be to send them home now so that they may adjust to their own countries and grow to love those countries. There is no reason for economic immigrants to chose Israel for any positive reason, they are chosing Israel by default because their lives in their own countries of origin was economically unfeasible. So really the reason for Israel to become their haven is....?
22. Nameless @#21
Jae ,   Lynn USA   (08.14.10)
"The true kindness would be to send them home now so that they may adjust to their own countries and grow to love those countries" Sure lets show our true kindness by sending the Sudanese children back to Darfur where these kids can become child soldiers and get strung out on drugs After all there is nothing like a bloody civil war and humanitarian catastrophe to help produce well adjusted kids is there?
23. Allow 1200 to stay; deport 10,000 later.
Matt C ,   Canada   (08.14.10)
Allowing illegal immigrants with children to stay may seem kind, but it will produce worse consequences later. The fact that these people were allowed to stay will cause a far larger number of people to come later, exploiting their children, hoping for the same treatment (Europe's example implies that the number will at least double in the immediate aftermath, and grow exponentially from there). Israel will eventually be forced to draw the line, deporting far more children than these 1200. A state must control its border to survive. Meanwhile, the children who stay will grow up wealthier, but unhappy, as they will not be able to fully integrate into a foreign society. The resulting problems will embarrass Israel in front of the international community far more than deporting these children would have. If Sara Netanyahu really wants to help children of foreign origin, she should not encourage their parents to exploit them.
24. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.14.10)
Oh, shut up. My parents -- both gone, now -- were Jewish refugees and concentration camp survivors. Do you have a problem with that? Sorry. We lived in a one-bedroom apartment in what is today called a "townhouse" or a "brownstone" but was in my day called a tenement. My sisters and I shared the bedroom. My parents slept in the pull-out couch in the living room. They sent two girls to medical school and one girl to law school. Jae -- Americans like you not only make me sick; you make me heave.
25. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.14.10)
I'm sorry, but I must disagree. The children are NOT being raised as Israelis. They barely speak Hebrew. However -- if you are feeling all that generous -- Australia is a pretty big country. Oh, wait! I forgot. Australia has some of the world's most rigorous immigration policies. Silly me! So I guess you won't -- can't -- take them, eh? Long live Oz. You've got your own issues with the tens of millions of Aboriginals that were murdered, eh? Right. You live in a glass house. Really bad idea to throw stones.
26. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.14.10)
Thank you! If you want them THAT badly, you can have them. Oh, wait! You have enough immigration issues, which is why the U.K. kind of shut it all down, right? You're a real piece of work, Deb.
27. @Jae sponsor them to live w/u in America!
#21   (08.15.10)
Really Jae, the vast majority of these kids are economic refugees not political refugees! BTW Israel has done more for the Sudanese children of Darfur they are recognized as POLITICAL Refugees than any other country in the world! If you feel so strongly. Please do sponsor them and guide them through the NIS bureaucracy in the United States.
28. To: Linda
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.16.10)
I wish I could agree with you, but I cannot. We do not WANT these kids in the army, anyway. Will they even make it? Functionally illiterate, no sense of identity as an Israeli (and most DEFINITELY not as Jews) and a profile of what, 30? Oh, yeah. Real IDF material, aren't they? Sh'loh nidah mitzaarot.
