1. Silly girl
zznhl   (08.17.10)
Only someone who could think it right to be photographed in such a manner can say that the army let her down. You have sullied the face of the most ethical army on the planet with your stupid ego...and the saddest thing is you don't even know why! Why on earth would you want to be in such sick photo's anyway? If the army cant prosecute you then the civil courts should be able to. And I hope we don't forget the clown behind the camera either!
2. I actually took care of the detainees
Bob ,   Israel   (08.17.10)
Jamad Armawi, you demand "this is a breach of international law, clearly a breach of human rights" and I ask you: What about Guilat Shalit's breach in international law and human rights "sponsored" by YOUR palestinians?. Start fixing your house first !!
3. EXCUSE ME!
miriam ,   Israel   (08.17.10)
This girl doesn't think she did anything wrong. Posting such pictures endangers the lives of every soldier serving today. Although today she is a civilian, the IDF must prosecute her.
4. She should take the army to court for libel
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (08.17.10)
and sue to get a proper discharge.
5. If that's the real story
George ,   Antwerp   (08.17.10)
then I don't understand why the army let her down. Eden deserves better. Here's my advise: do not put any pics or stories on facebook anymore.
6.  A vanquished people...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.17.10)
if there ever was one, and as such, should not be allowed to set any preconditions on any possible future 'peace' talks. They'll have to make do with the crumbs that fall from Israel's table.
7. Admission of guilt is a virtue!
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.17.10)
but Eden,I'm sorry, Can't believe you . NO one force you to put the images on your Facebook page,U have done this intentionally, you're not child to know how this is offensive to us, imagine men who are holding Shalit do the same with him, you also will tell that this is acceptable and they did not do anything wrong, just wondering !! After all, dont' worry "Israel "will protect you will not prosecute you of these shameful images, with great regret :(
8. "...the most ethical army on the planet", #1?
Cameron ,   USA   (08.17.10)
Sorry, but I keep coming across that line here on YNET talkbacks, and it has me rolling my eyes every time. It's a good army, but that kind of label is a bit much.
9. poor Eden
assassah ,   jenin   (08.17.10)
I would profoundly offer my heartfelt condolence to this pitiful soldier who is filled with innocent means and love for the Palestinian. I just wonder if she really hinders peace or what she was doing is something freak. Eden, don’t worry. It's only valuable for a few news briefs. Now, you are famous worldwide. Later, you are famed at least in your circle.
10. Nothing New
Hakim ,   Palestine   (08.17.10)
Only Americans would be "surprised" by this the rest of the world knows whats going on in the occupied territories. This is every day stuff nothing new.
11. A typical Israeli behavior: do the crime and play the victim
Ar ,   US   (08.17.10)
12. She gives clear meaning to the word "naive."
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.17.10)
13. The facts are innocent
sean ,   jerusalem   (08.17.10)
This girl was doing her job, probably did it well and probably did act nicely to the detainees, as I am sure is the case most of the time with most of the soldiers and detainees. I am sure any of the arabs in the picture would have willingly kissed her feet to stay in the position they were in a the time rather than to be in a similar position guarded by any arab para-military personnel. She is completely at fault, however, for her complete lack of good judgment in posting the pictures.
14. you blithering idiot !!!
Barry ,   Israel   (08.17.10)
15. Silly mistake, but not serious
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.10)
It was obviously a very silly thing to do. The proper thing to do would be for her to apologize and for the IDF to pay compensation to the blindfolded, bound men in the background, as well as establish clear rules to make sure this does not happen again. While I do agree that throwing her out of the IDF (reserves) and stripping her of her rank is a proper move, I think that should be sufficient punishment.
16. World media prove their unbelievable hypocrisy
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (08.17.10)
The same BBC, The Independent, CNN, Al-Jazeera, etc. who are hollering this story so loudly now, were complete mum a mere few days ago when Der Spiegel uncovered how the Turks use chemical weapons to murder Kurds.and presented as evidence their charred bodies. No doubt, this is a much, much, MUCH worse crime against humanity than what this Eden did. And while I do not condone this stupid soldier's horrible behavior, I am much more outraged at this unbelievable hypocrisy from the world media regarding Israel. By far and large, there are much worse bad guys in the Middle East, whose atrocities go almost unnoticed by the world.
17. sulking & blaming others for her own stupidity what an idiot
Zionist forever   (08.17.10)
She was an idiot to even have got so excited that she thought it would be clever to take her picture taken posing in a situation like that it's not professional. Putting up those pictures of Facebook was stupid I would have thought that even a fool could tell that pictures like that are not ones you should be plastering all over the Internet. She is right that its been blown out of proportion and the IDF has been forced to punish her to try and fix some of the damage to its image with the pictures she took and put on Facebook. I am amazed though that after all that's happened she still doesn't understand it was not clever to take pictures like that and put in on Facebook... Not everybody thought it was as clever as she did. The IDF needs to start laying down official guidelines on the sort of information or pictures that can go on sites like Facebook. Social Networking is a new media that nobody seems to have got their head round yet. Just the way parents tell their children which kind of websites to stay away from the IDF needs to teach soliders how to use Facebook responsibly. If there is a bright side to this whole story is that she will no longer be called up for reserve service. Somebody who still doesn't realize they have done wrong and is feeling sorry for herself over it doesn't belong in the army.
18. YOU HUMILIATE THE CAPTIVES AND YOU FEED YOUR EGO ?
Benjamin ,   SINGAPORE   (08.17.10)
19. Taking care!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dorothy neema ,   Nairobi, Kenya   (08.17.10)
I dont think this girl is normal, she needs to see a psych.
20. interpitation of intent of pictures is n the eye of beholder
Galut ,   Selah   (08.17.10)
there are folks and some unscrupulious news services that will twist any picture to say something it didn't.... the young lady and any other person that had pics taken should use caution in posting them on the internet.....the IDF needs to council its young recruits to that end...
21. Little IDF Lady
Moragh   (08.17.10)
pfui... not much up top have you little lady?
22. Stupid and irresponsible behavior
Avi ,   Geneva   (08.17.10)
If this girl had any intelligence she would have predicted the results of her vanity. The IDF does well to punish her.
23. She is a victim
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.17.10)
Poor Eden is a victim of her Leftist education that says that Israel's problem is the bad treatment of the Arab. She thought that the proof that Israel treats the Arab terrorists well is a good thing. She should realize that no one cares how you treat prisoners. The Arabs, the Turks, the English and especially the Americans under Obama torture their prisoners regularly. The fact is that Israel is at war with enemies that want to exterminate the Jews. They will twist any fact to further their purpose. Until they start teaching Israeli's the truth, this is what will happen.
24. Israeli Hysteria
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.17.10)
So she put up a funny picture. Big deal. Making this molehill into Mount Everest is ridiculous. The real idiots are those who are attacking this girl and cannot put things into proportion. This whole episode is stupid and should have been ignored.
25. Salma
zznhl   (08.17.10)
How dare you compare this episode with the 5 year long kidnapping and extortion attempt of Hamas.
26. Two Things To Point Out ...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (08.17.10)
At least now that Israeli female soldier openly voices her opinion by stating that " As far as I'm concerned we're not even an independent state " ! So she now apparently acknowledges that Israel relies mighty heavily on the USA for survival ! Besides, the Palestinians have to gain by claiming they have the right to keep holding on to Gilad Schalit until, perhaps, the entire Israeli-Arab conflict is settled justly ... !
27. Irresponsible & Dangerous Media
David Aarons ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.17.10)
The Israeli Media never seems to miss a chance to besmirch Israel.Certainly they know when it comes to Israel it is not a flat or fair playing ground. Yet their sick self hate pushes them and us to self destruction. The young girl was wrong no doubt a victim of the very culture that the media feeds her and our youth. It could and should have been handled internally.Thank you Israeli Media for putting one more nail in our coffin.
28. STUPID GIRL
david r ,   herzlia,israel   (08.17.10)
What stupid action taking pictures, and her stupid comments are not better.. what do you mean the IDF let her down..... she let the entir country down. She must be really stupid to post pictures in the most popular site on this planet !!!, Her brain must be the size of a olive !!. Net time stupid girl, think first.......
29. # 12 - Naive? No...
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.17.10)
Naive she isn't. Stupid yes, thoughtless yes, careless yes and self-centered to the point of ignorance.
30. Not as bad as the American girl soldiers...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (08.17.10)
...mocking and theatening naked prisoners, but this dame ain't no angel. And she wants the IDF to defend her? Like we don't have enough troubles? If she can be given a retroactive dishonourable dischage it would be a good start.
