1. Joseph's Tomb is in Shchem. Where in the world is Nablus?
Leib   (08.20.10)
see Yehoshua 24:32 Do the Arabs also claim that Joseph's tomb belongs to them?
2. Leib , you are IGNORANT
Charles ,   Petach Tiklva   (08.20.10)
maybe because of your "gemara" ? Poor guy .
3. #2 Charles, have you no mirror in your house?
Jae ,   Lynn US   (08.21.10)
Some self reflection might be in order. Dispute #1, if you can. If you cant, thats ok too. Allow your ego some humility sometime, its good for you in the long run.
4. 3 - well, 100% of the residents call it nablus
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.21.10)
kinda like palestinians (and nearly 1 billion muslims/much of the rest of the world) not recognizing the land of israel as israel, the west bank/gaza as anything but palestinian, or jerusalem as anything but al-quds. semantics, or merely a different way to look at things. you may completely disagree with it but they all disagree with you.
5. Jae , who are you to give lessons ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.21.10)
No humility towards a fanatic bigot
6. Move the thing
Rachmiel ,   MburgUSA   (08.21.10)
Pick the entire thing up and move it to where ever it will be respected.
7. 4 Mike , not only the residents call it Nablus
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.21.10)
Shechem is ONLY the Hebrew name . If you look at an atlas you will only find Nablus in English or Naplouse in French . Sad that we had to give all this region away .
8. 7 - it's all rather paqid-like
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.21.10)
this #2 wants to argue about the name of the city but i'm sure he's never been there and never will go there. ever. that makes it none of his business. arguing over "authentic" names of places/people or quibbling over the exact pronunciation or english spelling of hebrew names is a sign of a weak mind. if someone wants to call it pluto, WHO CARES?
9. #1 Actually the name Nablus is to their shame
Shalom   (08.21.10)
"Nablus" comes from the word "nebalah" - "disgrace", referring to the disgrace Shechem did to Jacob's daughter. (Genesis 34:7)
10. C'mon YNET, Pals didn't just "violate", they destroyed it!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.22.10)
Either Nahshoni or his editors whitewashed the lead paragraph saying only the Palestinians "violated" the tomb. They didn't violate it, they burned it and destroyed it with hammers and pickaxes. Since then and despite repeated repairs, the site has been constantly vandalized by Palestinians. So much for the Palestinian claim that they "respect" holy sites of other religions. It's also additional proof that the Palestinians should never be given sole authority over non-Muslim holy sites.
11. To all the talkbackers
Steve ,   Poleg   (08.24.10)
Joseph's tomb is designated area C ie. part of Israel as much as Tel Aviv according to the Oslo accords. I realise that this is of limited relevance now since it was conqured by the PA and the government left an IDF medic to slowly bleed to death inside.
