1. The Iranians just can't believe ......
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.23.10)
With their paranoid Islamic mind-set, the Iranian regime just can't believe they're getting away with all the BS - the nuclear program, the terrorism, the murder & torture of their own people, killing Americans in Iraq & Afghanistan, the wild & crazy rants of Ahmadinejad, etc. etc. with no real consequences from anyone. While they routinely condemn the West as decadent, weak, & impotent, they still fear they will provoke some reaction, hence, the very public threats & announcements of new weapons, all to further intimidate Western leaders. And, after all, it is pretty unbelieveable - any normal person would expect a strong reaction to all the Iranian provocations, for Islamic paranoids & psychopaths, it's beyond belief. But for the cowardly spineless appeasers of the West, the useless political hacks that govern the Western world (including Israel), nothing could make them act, they're paralyzed, only their mouths are still working.
2. Bibi, what are you waiting for?
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (08.23.10)
3. Iran military buildup
David ,   Jerusalem   (08.23.10)
Iran may seem like a third rate country and Ahmadinejad may seem to be psychotic joke, but the current build up of arms and weapons in Iran is reminiscent of Hilter's build up of the German Army before world war II. The world would be wise to take the threat of this mad man seriously.
4. GOOD IRAN ! WORKING LIKE ZIONISTS
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (08.23.10)

5. Iran and its latest achievements
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.23.10)
Isn't anyone out there paying attention? All the media is ever mentioning about Iran is Ahmadinejad's threats against Israel, it's newest built nuclear plant, surface-to-surface missile, named Qiam and now - missile-launching speedboats that will deliver death to Islamic enemies. Seems to me that he is a warmonger.
6. It's OK, let the dog bark
john US   (08.23.10)
If he looks like one, behave like one, bark like one; then he must be one. " Logic Watson "
7. Familiar with the addage.....?
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.23.10)
"You gotta fake it to make it'' I think this is what's going on here. If this dangerous buffoon doesn't get his nose bloodied by the free world sooner than later...it'll be too late. Agree with David #3. This reeks of late '30s Germany
8. ANY COUNTRY THAT CAN CONTROL
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.23.10)
40% of the world's oil supply has power. Clearly this what Iran is doing, positioning itself for a war. Making the consequences a world problem. First you can scapegoat Israel for any attack, because when oil/gasoline prices soar, the guy in the street feels it in the pocketbook. The anger...Iran's leaders believe...can be easily turned on Israel and Jews in general. But in some ways, I believe, it may take a conventional war off the table, with regards to Iran. It may make a nuke war more likely, by that I mean, rather than fight a conventional war and endanger world oil supplies, and economic catastrophe for the world. It may make more sense to use tactical nukes on Iran, in a quick surprise attack. Take Iran out of the equation in one move. So this build-up along with threats from Iran, makes a nuke exchange more likely, not less, in my view. It makes Iran more likely to receive a first strike, wiping Iran off the map. The opposite of their intentions.
9. China and N. Korea behind much of this but not alone
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.23.10)
Russia completed reactor to help counter Chinese influence in Iran. China buy whole US factories and shipping there, with some of that tech finding its way to Iran. Iran also getting help from ex-Soviet and N. Korean scientist to get around sanctions by building up Iranian manufacturing base.
10. Mark in Georgia
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (08.23.10)
You stated, " It may make more sense to use tactical nukes on Iran, in a quick surprise attack. Take Iran out of the equation in one move. " Just how many lives is the man from Georgia willing to sacrifice to soothe his fears of America not having enough fuel for their oversized cars and air conditioners?
11. Assault boats
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (08.23.10)
Reengineered speedboats with rocket launchers on them. This will be like turkey shooting for Navy helicopters. These guys are completely nuts.
12. What direction is the wind is blowing ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.23.10)
It is evident to anyone not under the delusional cloud of the Israeli peace whores that while Israel gets weaker and weaker and retreats for 'the peace' what is coming . The weakness in not defeating Hezbollah and Hamas when the opportunity arose will be a costly mistake. Instead of preparing , Israel falls for the Washington peace talks scam again where red lights and restraint await the sheep of Israel being led to slaughter under the Road Map peace lie.
13. #4 So you like ZIONISTS after all !(end)
Zion ,   TA Israel   (08.23.10)

15. #10; Sean, it's not that simple, is it?
Mark from Geogia ,   USA   (08.23.10)
"First, most of the world gets oil from that part of the world, to quote the article: "Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, choking off some 40% of tanker-shipped oil worldwide, in the event of a military attack." So it's not just our cars, is it Sean? Who is making the threats? Iran. My point is do you think Iranian threats make the kind of attack I described more or less likely? Frankly, I don't care whether you like our over-sized cars. But a lot more runs on oil than cars, right? China's main source of oil is Iran too! So that gives them some political muscle over Iran, who need China's oil money. But getting back to the point, do think the superpowers will allow a punk country to shut down 40% of the worldwide oil? My belief is this, Iran increases the threat I describe, and to answer your question "how many lives"? As many Iranian lives as necessary, because nobody needs to go there until after Iran is "taken out". My point, is Iran's increasingly threatening rhetoric, could it backfire. That was all I was saying. I certainly would prefer no war, and do not advocate a war. But when Iran raises the stakes to that level, are they inviting that option to a higher degree? What do you think?
16. iran
Ii ,   i   (08.23.10)
Iran is after a the control of the Arab gulf oil states, Israel have nothing to do with it , the west world and the east world is dependent on the gulf oil so they should be worried.
17. #11, Albrecht Klein, I would not want to
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.23.10)

18. HE IS NO MADMAN..............................#3
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.23.10)
And you better believe it.Giving him names and undermining his stratement may attract few readers to your talk-back but nothing beyond that David.Iran has been left with no choice but to stand tall and ensure that should there be a silly move made by Israel the retaliation will be painful.
19. Hardly impressed
Cameron ,   USA   (08.23.10)
Can't remember the last time a country came up with so many new weapons & military upgrades in the space of a year. Sure has a BS ring to it all.
20. #18;MAHMOOD, Iran is making all the threats
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.23.10)
Israel isn't threatening Iran, Iran is threatening Israel, dude, don't you read? Statements like "wipe Israel off the map". At least get your facts straight. Israel want to live in peace within internationally recognized borders. Iran wants to "wipe Israel off the map" and is helping Hamas and Hezbollah do exactly that. I'll tell you, you guys are nuts! You always lie and fabricate stories. But that not the real problem, the real problem is, you actually believe your own BS.
21. yeaup, nothing like fiscal responsibility huh?
courtney ,   usa   (08.23.10)
20% unemployment, 20% inflation, oil prices below level needed to balance budget... gotta love the priorities huh?

25. #20. John, maybe you were unable to read when...
Persian CAT   (08.23.10)
Ariel Sharon started "talking" about attacking Iran way before Ahmadinejad had come on the scene. Your statement that "Israel wants to live in peace" is as true as Madonna announcing she's still a virgin! Now you tell me who's submerged in BS. It's only you, dude. BTW, can you show me Israel's "internationally recognized borders"? How come Israel has not set those borders yet?
26. They are dying for the Israelis to attack Iran ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (08.23.10)
they want to provoke and call the shots, please don't let them - just not yet. Sit tight - these loons that 'govern' Iran are dying on their own arses, let them die at their own hands. People that love and want peace are with you all the way Israel.
27. #25, persian CAT
Ted ,   UK   (08.23.10)
Would you be kind enough to point me to the link where Sharon said this, and in which context? because you are masters in taking things out of context...and another thing Israel doesn't need your approval for recognized borders.. all disputes on borders are a result of Arab aggresion, even 1947 UN recognized borders are not recognized by all Arab states... so what do you suggest??
28. Missing the point...
David ,   Hartford USA   (08.23.10)
If Iran builds a thousand of these boats and mans them with suicide nutjobs, then many will get through with terrible consequences. America won WWII with overpowering production of tanks, planes, and ships. Iran is using our own playbook. If a ten out of a hundred of those things, each loaded with a thousand pounds of semtex managed to get close to a carrier, I bet it could sink it or certainly put it out of operation. All US boats need a multitude of Phalanx systems that can shoot low in the water. Iran isn't building all these weapon systems for a tech show- they will use them. The world better wake up.
29. Next Iranian super-weapon to be introduced:
Chatich   (08.23.10)
Sharks. With frikkin lasers on them.
30. #25; Persian CAT, perhaps you can show us your source...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.23.10)
Where Ariel Sharon threatened Iran. Persian writes: "Ariel Sharon started "talking" about attacking Iran way before Ahmadinejad had come on the scene." Prove it. Show us the source, where Sharon was "talking" about attacking Iran. The borders were set in 1948, and rejected by the Arabs who started a war to exterminate the Jews. They lost. Lost again in 56, and Again in 67, and again in 73. In 1982 an Palestinian army in Lebanon (18,000) repeatedly attacked Israel. Israel went into Lebanon and defeated the Pals there as well. How can there be borders when the people your trying to negotiate with want to destroy Israel, rather build a state of their own. Israel left Gaza, completely, it immediately became a base for Hamas to launch attacks upon Israel. PC writes: "Now you tell me who's submerged in BS" That's easy, you are. When you present an out of context idea, and accuse Sharon of "talking" of attacks without a source, as if it's fact, just because you say so. Unless of course we are to believe he was talking to you Persian. On May 14, 1948: The Declaration Of The Establishment Of The State Of Israel It said quite clearly and I quote; "WE EXTEND our hand to all neighbouring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighbourliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in a common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East. " Since that time Israel has repeatedly offered peace. Well documented and sourced. So from the beginning it's clear what Israel wanted and the Arabs rejected. It was peace, wasn't Persian CAT? Right?
