31. #10 has it right
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot Israel   (08.26.10)
The best strategy would be to boycott this mall even after the ads are taken down. The only way to make it clear to advertising agencies that their work has to include a sense of decency and not be demeaning to any segment of the population, else it would cost their supporters in lost revenue. Advertisements have gotten out of hand not only here in Israel but worldwide. Many ads do not contain anyconnection to the article they are trying to sell. We the public have to act ti get the message to these people. Boycott!!
32. Great ads!
Ste   (08.26.10)
I think the ads are great, and can't see what all the fuss is about. They make me want to go along to the mall when it opens. They are appealing and fashion forward.
33. #27 - did it really work, SE?
William ,   Israel   (08.26.10)
A common misconception in Israeli advertising is based on a quote by PT Barnum - "any publicity is good, just make sure you spell my name correctly". In product advertising, unless Israelis are drawn to buy based solely on the number of people talking as opposed to actual quality, the goal is to convey a POSITIVE message about the product. At the end of the day, the talk will be about the advertisement itself with many recalling the image but not what it advertised in the first place. Score 1 for the ad agency, Score 0 for Arena Mall.
34. #30 - hey now! I never justified this image
William ,   Israel   (08.26.10)
I was simply making the point to one poster who believed that such images should be allowed because we're not "Arab countries". I never endorsed images of abuse or placing any member of society in an unequal position. I was pointing out the hypocrisy of that person's statement, which it seems you understood from my post.
35. #32 - "Fashion forward"?
William ,   Israel   (08.26.10)
I didn't know the Arena Mall was full of bondage stores. I thought those stores were in S. Tel Aviv and on Sheinkin St. in Tel Aviv.
36. #32 I Shudder to think what else !!
DAVID ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.26.10)
#32 says the sado masochistic adds make him want to run to the mall and is "Fashion forward "I shudder to think what else it makes him want to do. A very very sick confused and sad society we have created .
