1. I am waiting for all the piss ass naysayers
Al   (08.27.10)
to have their take at this event. Listen up you rag tag losers..These olim are heros..They are leaving the sinking muslim filled west to help build a Jewish country. If that puts a bone in your throat then all I can say to you....go ahead...make my day...and choke. Mazel Tov to all the olim. My two Canadian born sons have taken on the challenge...They know damn well that Isreal is their final address. They know that Daddy warbucks (me) wont be financing their return to Canada. I told them very simply...Israel is theirs to build and hold..Its their final address...I hope to join them shortly..G-d willing.

Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (08.27.10)
I am sure that you know about the three Arabs living Canada caught the otherday in Ottawa before they could commit terrorist attacks. Yet many in Canada are politically correct and ignore such danger. Shabbat Shalom

Piss-ass naysayers? If you're so convinced then why are you still sitting in your Canadian armchair eh? I for one can't really understand why they want to come here. But there again that's because I'm here, not there....
5. to 4 , Mike ? why they want to make Alyah ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.27.10)
To be at HOME ,בבית . Very simple , not ? I did the same in 2001 , also from a west European country , but did'nt receive this reception , we were the only Olim on this plane .
6. cinically ??? NOT SO !!!
aviG   (08.27.10)
I'm on my way back to France in a few months because israeli bureaucracy didn't pprovide me a bus driver licence, the one I have since 1980, oh ! only 30 years ... and I don't find work in "my country" ... I drove buses in Marseeille, in the Alps and more, but no matter what, I'm only an "old oleh" that had the unfortune to arrive before the new ones. Last served best served ??? Propagande & compagnie ...
7. I already have an employer in France
aviG   (08.27.10)
8. to earn NIS.9OOO for 37H/Week ...
aviG   (08.27.10)
here, it would be NIS.4500 for 45H. how do you expect to make a living here, someone tells me ?? I have 2 daughters with me, my 3 rooms flat cost NIS.3000 ... so ?? I'm no businessman, neither do I know tricky ways to earn money. so, chana tova & Shabbat shalom.

What can I say Charles - kol ha kavod.......and I'm glad you like it here. I came here in 1980 from England. Maybe that's why I'm a bit cynical about it all now....too long.......
10. Great Jewish Agency
Georges ,   Paris/New York   (08.27.10)
I took my aunt in June to settle in a retirement home: all the paperwork was done in 2 weeks and we were greeted by JA rep at the plane. All docs delivered immediately. I was astounded by the efficient, human, generous service. If I had balls I would live there. True, might not be able to get sme job or make as much but we should be humble and look at the people who made this dream a reality. Fabulous country, fabulous people.
11. #4 YOu will learn to appreciate Israel fter you have
Al   (08.27.10)
spend a lifetime in the golus as I have. Living amongst the goyim is no walk in the park. In this Canada I worked my tail off. I didnt schnorr my way thru life bellyaching that someone owed me a living for whatever reason. I worked, I saved, I invested, I didnt piss my money away on crap. Today B'H I am ok..I have my health, I have some money and much unlike some Jews I have some self respect. The Canada I have know my entire life is changing very quickly. Its not a very Jew friendly place today. Jews with their uber liberal attitude are always being signaled out for the ones at fault. #4 I invite you to live amongst the goyim for 50+ years then you can come and tell me a story. Till such time I dont expect much from people who simply dont know. I suggest you stop pissing on peoples parade and use the WC. Judah,,,I may just end up in the Golan...Cold weather is in my blood. anything more than 23C makes me ill. I did indeed read about the raggers in Ottawa...Look up cbc.ca and read the talkbacks on the uber liberal CBC... People are bloody mad that their beloved Canada is turning into a heaven for Muslim radicals.

...There may be some, and these are the ones who have the most difficult time with Hebrew, who find the process of immigration criminally "bureaucratic." But for someone with a bit of gumption and the ability to read Hebrew well (reading scores here higher than speaking) the process is a piece of cake. Get in to the country, register name for immigration ID, get money for taxi to any predetermined destination, go to government office and pick up national ID card, mail application with choice of health care provider, open bank account, return to absorbtion ministry to arrange immigrant stipends - two days maximum no assistance needed. Also, if you're the "right" kind of Jew, the Jewish Agency may roll out the red carpet. But try to get them to give you your Aliyah file number - they go upstairs and just don't come back down. Will they tell you that you're elligible to be put on a waiting list for government housing simply by requesting a password at the absorbtion ministry? Definitely not. Will they're social workers actually try to get you employed? No. They'll give you a list of Ulpanim, half the numbers are disconnected, but they'll tell you to arrange it throught the absorbtion ministry - but they won't tell you that 99% of Ulpanim require a solid command of English as a frame of reference, even level aleph has English lagnuage textbooks - no instant immersion, no assistance demanding your rights to be taught Hebrew and not "Hebrew for English Speakers." They will not explain the concept of Arnona - an "annuity" charge calculated by the square meters on which you legally reside during a fiscal year. They will not tell you how to assure yourself the 90% discount for new immigrants for one year during the first two years (make monthly payment arrangements, fill out lengthy application forms in Hebrew and submit with a list of required documentation, specified in Hebrew, and pay full amount before December 31 or forfeit the discount). They will offer to accompany you on visits like this, but you will never, ever meet an Agency representative outside the Agency building, save for occasionally (if you are the "right" kind of immigrant of course) when arriving at the airport. Rental assistance, no help there - a list of numbers, half disconnected, and all Hebrew instructions, no accompanyment to the application office, not even help preparing the application. For every service you are promised accompanyment there is "another office" that deals with this. Find a job to pay rent and your exhorbatant Arnona bill on your own, no assistance forthcoming from the Agency. By creating the mythological monstor of "Israeli Bureaucracy" you are misled to believe you have been provided a great service. The promises sound alluring, but in the end you're on your own. A relative of mine submitted an application on which he indicated that his "Dat" was "Moshe ve-Yisrael" - he was denied acceptance flat out and told there was no such "Dat" as "Moshe ve-Yisrael." The gall! He had to recomplete the application process, in Hebrew (with great trouble) indicating that his "Dat" was "Yehudi" - he added that he hoped that his parents ketuba would not preclude him from the Law of Return as it indicaties that they were married in accordance with the "dat" of "moshe ve-yisrael" and not the "dat" of "yehudi." He got citizenship after over a year of Jewish Agency bureaucracy. The rest took two days - with no help from the Agency. Waiting list for government housing? No. Arnona assistance? No. Ulpan in Hebrew rather than "Hebew for English Speakers"? No. Employment assistance? No. Instructions on how to legally earn and report income earned not through an employer (i.e. not via a company with a payroll and accounting department)? Nope. Help finding housing? No way. Above services offered? All. Above services received? None. "5-star treatment"? - Overstatement of the year.

new immigrants. I wish with all my heart that my obligations here will one day be finished and I too will be allowed by Hashem to walk off the plane instead of being carried off in a box.

LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (08.27.10)

LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (08.27.10)
I also could not receive a bus drivers license in Israel .That is OK .I don't really want to drive buses here but it would have been nice to make a proper living .Anyway ,Israel for me is a spiritual place and not a place to make money .May Hashem bless you and help you with good health and parnasah .
25. Lawrence from Safed, do you ever shut up?

26. New Olim
Rod ,   London, UK   (08.28.10)
My daughter became an olah chadasha two years ago. The whole process took three weeks; she was met at the airport and absolutely sailed through the bureaucratic process. She made it her intention to succeed and in spite of finding the language difficult, she has. She loves it here and would recommend it to anyone. Everyone's experience is different. How much 'assistance' does a person need? What about motivation and responsibility? How much hand-holding is required? Nothing is easy.
27. to 17-24 the brainless rapper
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.28.10)

28. Avig , already an employer in France ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.28.10)
Et a 50 ans [ au moins ] ? Bureaucracy ? probably you did'nt give them the correct papers . Olim who came here with a drivers licence could receive their Israeli one without any problem [ this has changed since some came with fake ones ]
