1. But it's easier to blame Israel.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.26.10)
Then, world leaders can ignore the real problems, they don't have to do anything much, they can be totally irresponsible while pretending to do something. And, I might add, I don't think it's so much pro-Palestinian as anti-Israel. No one REALLY cares about the Palestinian people, not the Arabs & not even Palestinian leaders. Do you think the cowardly, spineless, unprincipled, self-interested political hacks that govern the West want to confront the reality of a hostile Islam of 1,5 billion people? My G-d, they might actually have to take action. Much safer to blame Israel.
2.  Palestinian issue will be resolved only by 3rd world war !
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.26.10)
Yoram Ettinger , your article is not worth reading.

ROOT OF OTHER CONFLICTS IN THE REGION.
5. Because we are Majority between river and sea
Nour ,   One-State   (08.26.10)
That's why, genius. It is in your interest to tackle this apartheid situation and not drag feet or engage in genocide. Mr. Ettinger, allow me to take this opportunity to question your theory that Palestinians do not pose ademographic dilemma for Israel. In your various articles, you refer to "double counting" in Jerusalem and allege deliberate population inflation in the territories. Do you have any evidence to back-up your claims? The last time I checked the PA was working with international organizations to come to arrive at those numbers: 2.5 million Palestinians in West Bank, and 1.5 million in Gaza, in addition to 300,000 in occupied Jerusalem. When you combine the total (4,300,000) with 1,200,000 Palestinians inside Israel proper, the total is 5,500,000 which exceeds Jews in historical Palestine. Ettinger, Time's Up, Apartheid fell and so will Zionism. Thankfully Plan Dalet failed.
6. good article but what about the kurds who
michael   (08.26.10)

It is not relevent to any argument because we need to find solutions but check your facts.
9. Salma
Seppo ,   Finland   (08.26.10)
You have a real prophetic insight. That will be the end to all the problems. But also WW3 creates plenty of other problems. At least 2 Billion people will die. Which countries will survive, I dont know, but I know that Israel will survive.
10. Yoram Ettinger, a short Memory?
Palestinian   (08.26.10)
... forgotten how Israel was established? Without solving the problem of migrants who come from Russia or Ethiopia and from nowhere to Palestine? Israelis real or fake ones will never have peace in Palestine untill Palestinian get justice first. You live in the home of my father and you don't anybody to be worry about the situation of Palestine and more of the same, it is the law of the jungle? Yoram Ettinger, life like cucumber, one day in your hand..
11. #1, Terry - Agreed. It is a simple matter of blame the
Allan ,   Delray Beach, Fl.   (08.26.10)
Jew and the problem goes away. Our history is proof enough of that. But these are different times. We are no longer the meek Jew willingly led to slaughter. No! We learned to fight and defend ourselves. There's a storm brewing alright but this time it is us, the Jews, who will come out the other side stronger and more capable.
12. As far as US and other are concerned Israel is a rogue state
USA   (08.26.10)
Or just as rogue as Iran, Palestinians, or any other state they consider "rogue"

Your father bulit his home on my grandfather's land, great grandfather's land, great great grandfather's land-all the way back to the first Miriam. If you go back go all the way back, don't stop where it is convenient!
14. Why focus on Palestinians?
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (08.26.10)
Because of a double offense by Zionists from 1870s to present day, as well as previous sinful Jewish reimmigration before that. Not only was Muslim-Christian land stolen to establish the outlaw state called Israel, but that state was established in direct defiance of Divine Edict set forth at and shortly after the time of the Crucifixion. There will be no peace until the Zionist entity is dismantled and the Jews in the Holy Land are once more dispersed.
15. This is a must read
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.26.10)
... for everyone who believes that Israel is the linchpin of conflict in the Middle East, and that all problems will magically disappear if only Israel did, too. Israel has always been -- and is ever more so now -- a point of stability in that extraordinarily volatile region. Violence has always been foisted upon Israel by its numerous unpleasant neighbors; it has never been deliberately sought by Israel. Israel is not to blame for having had to kick that violent rabble to the curb, over and over and over again. The Palestinians are decidedly a back-burner issue. Mr. Ettinger is to be congratulated for articulating this point so eloquently.
16. Sooner or later....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (08.26.10)
Blaming the US for this and/or Israel for that has never solved or changed anything. On the other hand and regardless of official lines, it's pretty much a given that Radicals of whatever flavor will have to be dealt with at some point. I don't think the the R&D departments of the US and/or Israeli weapons industries are in full swing to come up with ever more sophisticated equipment for an eventual invasion of Monaco, or to defend against the military superiority of Corsica. Why expect us to understand the intricacies of the Middle East, when the guys in New York don't have a clue most of the the time what gives with the flakes and nuts in California? (Just a figure of speech, Californians and it's OK to refer to us as Rednecks.) Last but not least, where does it say that Israel has to give in to pressure from the US? That "Go to hell" street runs in both directions.
17. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.26.10)
Present-day so-called "Palestinians" are rather recent arrivals to Israel, having arrived for the most part once Jews of the First and Second Aliyah cleared the swamps, pushed back the desert and changed a desolate, barren eyesore into a veritable garden. Even then, the ONLY reason you came was to raid Jewish settlements and steal whatever wasn't nailed down. For the record, you come from the Hejaz in the Western Arabian desert. Why not take your issue up with the Saudis?
18. Continued outside involvement will never solve anything
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.26.10)
The involvement of outsiders have done absolutely nothing but make the situation much worse. The only solution is that the world stops interfering with our affairs and the problem will be shortly resolved.
19. We made ourselves a majority in ME at the expense of natives
Nour, 22 States + ,   One from Jews   (08.26.10)

Since neither you nor any of the other Arab hypocrites read history books not written by PLO cretins, the Ottoman Turks were the landlords in the 1800's. The fact that Zionists bought [ from the Turkish landowners ] the inferior land that lacked clean water is lost on idiots [ like you ] that post crap because they can't accept the facts. Morons like you who haven't a clue about real history continue the canard of theft of Arab land. Tell it to the Turks [ good luck with that ]. As far as Arabs go, Arabs come from Arabia [ Saudi or otherwise ]. How did Arabs end up in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon or anywhere in North Africa? Because they conqured and stole land not theirs. Read a book and quit posting here. That goes for you as well Nour [ hefker gonef ].
27. @Nour
Shaya ,   Texas   (08.27.10)
Don't you think that if it came to an actual demographic problem that Israel couldn't contend with the result? First of all, the borders are sealed to Arab immigration, and there are other Jews who constantly want to get to Israel. If need be, I'll be on the next plane. Secondly, the non contiguous nature of Gaza and Yehuda VShomron can result in the separation the two territories permanently. With the laws on the books, Israel can just deport half a million palestinians to Gaza (those born in Gaza with no residency rights in the WB) and then annex the WB. Then there will be 6 million Jews and 3 million Arabs in Israel, using the inflated statistics. P.S. Nobody cares if the international community condemns us, because an Arab in Israel lives better than an Arab anywhere else in the world, and everyone knows it.
28. @#5 Nour: au contraire: only the two-states solution will
Bat Zion ,   Centre, Israel   (08.27.10)
enable both sides to live in peace - according to their culture and belief. I don't want to live with you anymore than you want to live with me. Let us part in peace.
