1. wow. talk about going to burn in hell!
(09.12.10)
2. kissing mezuzot is rather unsanitary
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.12.10)
touching something that's been touched thousands of times by unwashed hands that have also touched their mouths, even while sick, and then touching your mouth... yech.
3. to 2 , as you don't do it , not your problem
Charles ,   Petyach Tikva   (09.12.10)
nor business
4. Be glad you can put a mezuzot on your doorpost since in
Rivkah   (09.12.10)
places like Central California, a mezuzot on the doorpost is an invitation for the anti-Semitic police to attack and neighbors to vandalize. I gave up putting a mezuzot on the doorpost that is visible from the outside because of the attacks on Jews in Central California that include attempted murder and perjuries by the police who are rarely if ever prosecuted and at most are fired but only if they kill someone wrongly or as in the case of the Lemoore Police Department, rape a woman they stop. Seven Lemoore Policemen were fired for raping women but since Police Chief and later Sheriff Ken Marvin has retired to Colorado, it has become corrupt again. A former Mayor Tom Buford tried to have the police department in Lemoore abolished since that was the only way to stop the corruption, but he was voted down and then his pharmacy went out of business for telling the truth. I moved and I shook the dust from my feet when I left there. Rabbi Yeshua said in the day of judgment it will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than for places where his followers were rejected to the point that they shook the dust from their feet in a city. The people in Lemoore told me that if they helped us, they might be targeted by the police. All the people we had helped did nothing for us, not even helping with the terrible financial setbacks of wrongful prosecutions to terrorize Jews. The Lord sent a drought to Central California that you can read about in the Farmers' Almanac that started in winter of 2006 when I asked God for revenge. It is continuing and is costing the State of California over 4 Billion (Billion, not million) dollars this year alone of the 19 billion dollar deficit. It will be costly to get me to stop asking God for revenge or to get me to reverse the shaking of the dust from my shoes there.
5. 2 Mike, Israel: The way Michael Jackson handled that problem
Rivkah   (09.12.10)
when he visited Blarney Castle in Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone that is sprayed with ethyl alcohol before each person kisses the stone, was to put a handkerchief between his mouth and the Blarney Stone. So I suggest putting a handkerchief between a mezuzot and one's mouth if one is inclined to kiss a mezuzot.
6. "Crosses on them? Missionaries ?
RespectforJudaism ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.12.10)
While this is most likely not common one can imagine if the reverse were true and Jews disrespected the homes of Christians in such a way .it would be headlined around the world. There are some very aggressive Christian missionaries who know no restraint unfortunately and this is a natural point of friction and conflict.
7. 3 - living with people who do, it is my problem
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.12.10)
wait until one of these infections flu or epidemic diseases starts to spread. and don't think i don't notice the how unsanitary food handlers are here, not to mention those in the medical field (of all people). it's absolutely my problem and my business.
8. 7 Mike, Israel: Good point. NDM-1 is a factor that can
Rivkah   (09.12.10)
attach to normally non-virulent viruses and bacteria making them almost impossible to treat. It originated in India and is also called New Delhi-M1 factor. It is being spread by people who go to India for low cost surgeries and become carriers back to their home countries. The cost of a India based surgery plus the risk of certain death of the NDM-1 factor is contracted is not a bargain.
9. 7 Mike, Israel: Be sure to take 2 teaspoonsful daily of
Rivkah   (09.12.10)
Detoxamin silver solution (contact Dave Martinez at World Health Products) as an added protection from infections. Increase to 4 teaspoonsful daily if any symptoms of infection start that have overwhelmed the silver defense. Even the US military is using silver solution and putting it on wounds in the dressings because so many pathogens are resistant to anti-biotics, now. The old timey ways of putting a silver coin or silver spoon into a milk carton and water bottles in the refrigerator to hinder bacteria is a good idea.
10. Not only Mezouzoth are stolen
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.12.10)
Sifrei Torah Too [ reshet Beth news this noon ] I understand that small Bate Knesseth can't afford an expensive security system , and that it is problematic to cut off this system on Shabbat . Maybe a national register of all the Sifre Torah would help ? So an eventual buyer could check if this Sefer Torah is of honest origin , not stolen .
11. To 7 , never heard of an infection
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.12.10)
caused by kissing a Mezzouza . So not your problem , nor this of another [ this a foolish ] shikse
12. Rabbanite Traditions
Shlomo   (09.12.10)
This is a problem that Rabbanites, Pharisees, Talmudists have to deal with because of the way that they interpret the Torah. The Karaites, Sadducees, Samaritans interpret it differently.
13. Kissing the mezusah is not required
Israeli grandma   (09.12.10)
Its a custom which has caught on in Israel in particular because of newly religious and the supersticious who were taught to do it. The rule is to have a kosher mezuza on all doorways except bathrooms and closets. Looking at them as you go through is enough. Its not a lucky charm, its to remind us of the mitzvot. You can just as easily catch infections from public door handles et c. by the way.
14. 13 - superstition
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.12.10)
who touches a dirty doorknob, or anything dirty, and immediately touches their mouth?
15. You know what else is gross mike...
Steve ,   U.S.A.   (09.13.10)
Siddurim in a synagogue, it's even worse than mezzuzot I think, people put their mouth right on them. But what are you going to do? Object fetish is what keeps half of frum yidden on the derech.
16. Theft of mezuzah's
Just another Jew ,   USA   (09.13.10)
Maybe the first theft is the $150 cost of the kosher parchment. I do not think g-d's intend was to make religion a blooming business. Maybe that's why there is a secondary market for them to begin with.
17. I'm waiting to hear from AVi..he doesnt kiss Mezuzahs
Al   (09.13.10)
HE KISSES ASS.
18. #2, I agree. Kissing mezuzot with hand contact
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.14.10)
is not clean. So, what I do is put my hand in the direction of the mezuzah, without touching it, and kiss my hand. This is much safer. I can't believe that Jews in Israel are now stealing parchments from mezuzot. These people are selling their souls for the money.
19. this why u should cut off thieves hands
THE GREAT KHAN ,   Kandahar,Afghanistan   (09.16.10)
yes you should take there hands off to steal such a thing should be punshed very harshly!and yes all should respect the Torah and obey it or else.and if the xtians steals the mezuza he should lose both hands not just 1.support SHAS!support Reb Ovadiah Yousaf!and obey! Khudai Hafiz
20. If you can steal it, it was a faulty mezuzah!
Maurog ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.16.13)
If the mezuzah is there to protect the house from bad stuff, including theft, and a thief manages to steal it, then wasn't that a faulty mezuzah in the first place? Clearly if it can't even protect itself from thieves, it can't protect the house either.
