Years ago I listened to one of his rants on free tape during a road trip. He shouted on about Hell and so on for sinners, and at first I thought I was listening to a Christian fundamentalist missionary!!! The comparisons were so close as to be a joke. Mainstream Judiasm is not all about punishment and fear of retribution in the afterlife, but about decent behaviour and charity to the less fortunate. Modern sexual prudery was not part of core Judaism, but decent and moral behaviour in all aspects of life is.

I watched the video of the "flogging". Not much of a flogging at all. Np pain, no blood, no tears. Completely symbolic activity.

This is forbidden. Clearly the only book written in the first person by a true prophet, Moshe, never mentions this holiday. The last and final word of Moshe and no mention of it while G-d talked and guided Moshe. That was just a symbolic "punishment" because, nowadays, we can't really have a Beit Din that can issue physical punishments anymore.
