I have relatives still living in Turkey. Although there has been no cases reported of Jews hurt in a physical way, there are a lot of harassment as it is reported in this article. Many Jewish businesses are being silently boycotted. (I must add to this that also many Muslim businesses also are similarly boycotted with the government's silent backing only because they are not on the AKP bandwagon). While there are many Turks who oppose AKP also supporting the Jewish citizens, unfortunately life for Jews in Turkey is getting unpleasant. The reason is simply that the AKP government empowered the ill educated ultra religious Muslim who are now getting rich in money but still very poor in culture and education.

I am saddened to see Islamist Neanderthals destroy the fabric of many religions in Turkey. I want to see a Turkish society where Christians, Muslims and Jews share churches next to each other. What Israel is doing wrong to innocent Palestinians, but that does not mean idiots in Turkey have the right to attack our Jewish Brothers in Anatolia. They are as important of Turkish citizens as Muslims, Armenians, Greeks, Protestants and Alevis, period and bottom line.
