1. Settlement freeze
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (08.31.10)
There cannot be any settlement freeze in the future as it,s just an excuse by the Palestinian Authority to waste more valuable peace talks time and perpetuate the lies and irresponsibilty of Palestinans to get on with building civil society and it,s institutions in the Palestinian state of Jordan as mandated by the UN in May 1948.
2. Can someone explain why Obama is running the State of Israel
Chaim   (08.31.10)
Is Israel the 51st State of America?
3. :: Chaim - #2 - Your question
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.31.10)
Obama is not “running the State of Israel” per se (eg: Obama is not bothered with the internal policies, day-to-day running) rather he is only dictating how Israel should behave in regard to US foreign policy in the ME and elsewhere. For example the US does not want Israel to attack Iran so Obama will not give a ‘green light’ to Israel for such an attack. Likewise with the recent border skirmish between Israel and Lebanon it was on the interest of the US for Israel to attack Lebanon over this minor event so the Obama Admin sent a message to Israel telling it to stand down. If Israel was ever to disobey the US on any foreign policy matter Israel would get a good ‘dressing down’ and the US simply applies ‘pressure’ until Israel falls in line again. A good example of this was about 5 years ago when Israel went against the US wishes and tried to independently sell of military drones to China; as a result Israel got a good whack on the knuckles and had to issue a letter of apology to the US before the matter was resolved. You will of course notice that not all countries in the world submit to the will of the US, proper sovereign countries like China, Russia, Venezuela, Iran etc would laugh at the US if it ever tried to dictate their foreign policies. As to ‘why’ the US can treat Israel as subordinate state the answer is very simple: the US funds and protects Israel and the ‘price’ for this US support is part of Israel’s sovereignty. Some would argue that this is a small price to pay as Israel is to weak to stand alone without the backing of a ‘superpower’ and in may regards they would be right however others would argue that this loss of independence and subjugation is to high a price to pay and that Israel will never be a trusted and respected nation state until it comes from under the US skirt and stands on its own two feet. Basically yes, like with a US State Israel can apply its own internal laws but must follow the overall national and international interests of the USA. I hope this explains things for you.
4. Obama The Arab Lapdog
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (08.31.10)
Finally the Arabs have a lapdog in the Whitehouse that will do to Israel what 63 years of war failed to achieve. Obama will see Israel destroyed, Jews marched off to Arab death camps, new ovens be built just so the Arabs will "love" him but the Arabs love NOTHING. Darkness will descend upon the world as it did in 1939 and end up with BILLIONS dead this time.

Not really, hebrew prophet. Jordan is nothing to do with Palestine, it seceded from it decades ago. It's simple really - modern Israel was given half of Palestine by a foolishly generous UN - and now wants to steal most of the other half, under a tissue of lies, false claims, excuses and the use of force. It's amazing how the right thinks it can get away with it, but that's always the problem with blinkered xenophobic zealots - they cannot conceive that they are wrong, even though the rest of the world keeps telling them why they are so. That Chaim is why Obama has to be the man in the middle with the whistle, because no one trusts Israel to do the right thing on its own.

hebrew prophet ,   israel   (08.31.10)
What does not really actually mean Palestinan as it does not clarify any situation etc,just a cliche ,so yes the UN foolishly but generously gave half of Palestine to Israel and the other half to nomadic camel heders of Arabia,the difference is the Irsael/Jewish half has flourished and progressed into the 21st century ,with limited resources and manpower whilst the Palestinian half has degenerated into a tribal free for all with despots ,warlords Islamofascist criminals and conmen,amazing how the leftwing looneys cannot see the forest from the trees.

Wrong again. Remember, we are all adults here. Israel respects the US as much as the US respects Israel. Israel will do what is necessary at a time (which is sad). At the moment Israel is listening to the US and to the Palestinians and will make the decisions based on the progress. The freeze is another issue. Netanyahu the woos will probably extend the freeze to show some respect to Husain Obama, but for some sort of compensation in return, which is too bad, but at the end, no peace will ever achieve. You are too optimistic about peace when you have your brothers Hamas and Jihad who will never agree to such peace, so what do you do then smarty pants? The only way for peace is war with the terrorists in the territories and then kick all the Palestinians out of Israel and then, but only then you will have peace in Israel. Israel made 2 mistakes, 1 is with Rabin who thought he had a peace partner but later the Palestinians reneged (you gotta admit this), 2 was Ariel Sharon who gave up Gaza only to get rockets in return. We simply don't trust the Palestinians and you Palestinians just hate us, so where are your peace partners? Please don't respond by saying it's Israel's fault, cause it is getting boring already. WAR=PEACE, but this time finish Hamas and all the terrorists for good.
