31. Ariel Tel Aviv and Haifa
Daniel Francis ,   Berrien Springs USA   (08.31.10)
If Ariel is as much a part of the state of Israel as Tel Aviv then the palestinians can say Haifa is a s much a part of Palestine as Nablus. WHo will prove the other wrong? When will it end?
32. because we did nothing this came to pass. when will we act
ralph   (08.31.10)
33. Independant State of Tel Aviv NOW!!
DAVID ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.31.10)
Now is the time for a national referendum to cut Tel Aviv Herzliah and Haifa loose.Fence her in let the few sane ones join us and other anarchist anti zionist refugees join them. This must include the entire Israeli Television and left wing Media establshment and lets get on with building a healthy Jewish country as the founders invisioned. It will only be a short time before this "Reality TV crowd" drugs and alchohols itself out of existence or continues its natural process of assimilation in Amsterdam London and Berlin.INDEPENDANT TEL AVIV NOW !!!!!!!!!!
34. Academics are usually some of the most hardline leftists
zionist forever   (08.31.10)
Academics, artists, actors these sort of people who live in worlds which revolve around them. They think they are clever because they understand or are capable of doing some things most do not or they can draw pretty pictures so they think they have all the answers and we should all listen to their wisdom. If a bunch of actors, artists want to boycott this thing because its in Ariel and 150 idiot academics want to support their boycott then let them its not going to change anything.
35. Publish Their Names and Professions
David ,   Israel   (08.31.10)
They want to be known and we want to know who they are.
36. SHAME on you......
tiki ,   belgium   (08.31.10)
'Israeli artists, writers and professors! The WORLD is 'watching and laughing about so much stupidity and I can't blame them. It's the GETTO MENTALITY all over again. You havn't learned anything from YOUR history. I'm sure there are NOT many Jews who came (fled) from Arab counties participating in these 'boycots, for they know whom they are dealing with.
37. THIS IS NOT TRUE
Dror Simon ,   Shomrei   (08.31.10)
R. Melchior is not religious rightst because he is gay too. You are lying. But it is true plenty of leftists live in TA.
38. To "The Dude" (# 30). Post # 18 is a fraud.
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (08.31.10)
Just for future reference, this forum has a resident imposter who (daily) hijacks the usernames of SarahB, Robert Haymond, Matty Groves, me (flyingdoc57) and others to post his jibberish.
39. to #31 lol you r funny, no arab ever lived in ariel.
ghostq   (08.31.10)
or in Tell aviv, don't confused Tell Aviv with Joffa. if you want more info on Joffa all you have to do is open the new testament.
40. Much of Israel's academia are jokes anyways.
Etoile ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.31.10)
Adhering to a collectivist and statist mentality while also employing circular logic to base their claims. The city of Ariel did not steal anyone's land, but the existance of these professors are parasitic by nature due to having state subsidies and grants where the money is forcibly removed from taxpayers by the state. Of course they have the right to boycott. But the state does not have the right to steal from one to give to another. These "intellectuals" are jokes in every sense of the word, advocating selflessness for all except them.
41. What I'll boycott
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ USA   (08.31.10)
As an American Jew, I constantly receive mail asking for donations to Israeli colleges and universities. Ben Gurion University of the Negev is a frequent soliciter. Afterf reading of the treasonous activities of professors that want to hurt other Israelis, I decided to just shred thesde requests for donations and I suggest that people who oppose these self-hating tactics do likewise. These arrogant learned idiots are no better than academic terrorists.
42. Sleep softly....
mindRider ,   The Netherlands   (08.31.10)
...from the leftwings angel-dust distortionate of reality propaganda repeated for so long that the the true history of the region is all but forgotten.
43. #42 Leftwing angel-dust distortions.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (08.31.10)
Pal-propaganda must be the full-blown heroin mickey.
44. Jer 31:5 "Again you will plant vineyards in Samaria
chris ,   Porthmadog,wales   (08.31.10)
these people have the nerve to demonize the pioneers of Israeli Society and state.Had it not been for the Settlers Israel would not exist! it is the Settlers who are living on the heartland of the prmise land while these Atheist Fools have no real legal right to support their version of Israel.what Am i saying is that Without understanding the Root, and the history and God's promises,There would be no Israel. It is because God's promised to restore Israel,Irael exist today. look up Jer 31:5 "Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit." One word to describe these People,TRAITORS!
45. One of the signatories Shlomo Sand
Gene   (08.31.10)
He came with the theory that he is a descendat from the ancient khazars and his homeland is in steppe near Kaspian sea . Why don't he go there to lecture his "brothers" about human rights and get salary from them for his efforts as well.
46. We have discovered and our enemy our enemy is us
carlos ,   San Diego U.S.A.   (08.31.10)
47. boycott Ariel theater
nihom ,   netanya   (08.31.10)
we should boycott all artists and intelligent professors who boycott Ariel
48. The Dude Is Right
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (08.31.10)
If you are state funded and truly believe in denying your services, paid by the state, to certain people, you have to deny yourself state funding. Pretty simple, really. And if they had to choose between a paycheck and their "principles" I'm betting the paycheck is gonna win.
49. Lecturers back Ariel boycott
Ger ,   Raanana, Israel`   (08.31.10)
These people should issue a statement in which they agree to stop accepting government funds.' Put your money where your mouth is.
50. I am sick to death of these extreme leftist
Secular Jew   (08.31.10)
I want a list of them and I will not send a dime thier way, or spend another second reading, listening or watching them. They should be ashamed...I am positive that their ancestors are ashamed of them.
51. Behavioral Patterns
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (08.31.10)
I was nearly sure that the so called academia (I would call it differently) will come to help their equals. Academia, theater artists, they are all elitists (which is not a very democratic word) that are sure (I mean they don't believe, they are sure) that they are better and know better. That's to say, that for them, the idea of one person one vote is stupid, they believe in a qualified vote, like in Athens was just people who owned lands who could vote, they believe that "intellectual's opinions are more valuable than yours or mine. Time has come to take them down from the horse! No more money for anti democratic Stalinist groups!
52. to-morrow stoning
vitenberg ,   FRANCE   (08.31.10)
all these academic graduates are ill or corrupt, "ami-ami" with catherine Ashton. What are they doing for Sakineh Mohamadi Ashtiari? Nothing, because they are busy with rabi Cohen in Ariel. He has 3 boys and they built in the garden a little hut, without planning permission from Ashton, shalom (or stoning) achchav, ayatollah kaka, kiki and koko. It's an offense to Islam and they deserve stoning...
53. "Academic terrorists": Mahlon Drumgoole #31:
Robert Haymond ,   IsraeléCanada   (08.31.10)
Just wanted to note my appreciation for your colourful phrase which, though these academics may not meet a thorough-going definition of terrorism, certainly speaks to my mind about who they really sympathize with. It appears that a similar leftist faux liberal mentality rages on in academic circles in both Canada and the USA. I think the fact of tenure is at fault. It not only allows for unfettered scholarly opinion but also odd, idiosyncratic and outrageous behaviour of such a kind that would never be permitted in any of the professions nor trades. The problem is the manner in which tenure is abused. Many tenured professors remain in positions of security and power without progressing in the academic realm once tenure is, in fact, received. The assault on tenure is always perceived by these layabouts as an assault on academic freedom as opposed to competency and responsible behaviour. When the Nazis rose to power and lives were on the line, how many of these tenured professors actually spoke up against the Nazi regime. Very few. And in Spain, how many other than Miguel de Unamuno spoke out against Franco. The point I am trying to make is that as long as it is safe in Israel, these academics will speak out but as soon as a sacrifice has to be made, such as at least an economic one (which I support), most, nearly all of these protesters, will lope to the sidelines in silence.
54. They all have one thing in common: our tax money!
Academic ,   Israel   (08.31.10)
What a bunch of hypocrites. They are totally silent in the face of all the human rights abuses going on daily in the non-democratic countries surrounding us. They have the hutzpah to gobble up our taxes and preach their form of morality to us! CUT THEM OFF!!!
55. Seditious "academics" to trial for treason.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.31.10)
It is obscene to force hard pressed Israeli taxpayers to luxuriously support seditious academics and actors, who instigate and promote anti-Israel boycotts. All seditious academics should be immediatly fired, investigated, and tried for treason when warranted.
56. 33
zionist forever   (08.31.10)
Under the 1947 partition plan Jaffa was supposed to be some kind of independent zone that was part of the arab state. So independence for Tel Aviv isn't so far fetched. Problem is what to do with it. We can't trade it with any future palestinian entity because the people in charge of tourism in TA are trying to sell the city abroad as a kind of gay capital of the world. Well if we have alot of gay tourists in TA they will probably find themselves executed by Hamas. The clothing style for Tel Aviv women is a little to revealing for Hamas liking and doubt Hamas will like all those bars or places . There is also the problem with the beaches go down there at night you will find plenty of women smoking nargila with their friends. On the plus side the palestinians in Gaza like malls and water parks. Tel Aviv has Azrieli & Ramat Aviv and Luna Park so they will feel right at home. Maybe full independence for Tel Aviv is the solution .. no haredi to upset the anti religion liberlals. They can spend all nights at the local bar discussing how badly Israel is to the palestinians and how we much give them anything they like. Just what they need I hope Bibi proposes the idea to Obama.
57. So professors will not teach in Ariel?
William ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
That's pretty much cause for loss of tenure and stipend.
58. #3 - well, yes and no
William ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
Don't let the media bias fool you. The majority of Israelis do not support the Left-wingnuts platform as exhibited by these professors. Infact, many consider the uber-Left in Israel to be more threatening than the Arabs themselves. The recent election pretty much proved that. But if a referendum were made tomorrow, the majority might vote in favor of exit from West Bank because Israelis over all truly want honest and lasting peace. However, if that referendum had no guarantee of security nor of Arabs stopping their attacks on Israel, it would be voted down in a heartbeat...except for those ideological kiddies in Tel Aviv and academics who support it and call everyone racists who voted against it.
59. the real trators
Boris G. ,   Cambridge UK   (09.01.10)
The occupation causes too muhc harm to Israel. The real trators are those American Jews, who back occupation and support settlements. Shame on you!!! I am ashamed to be associated with you!
60. # 59,ISRAEL CANNOT MAKE PEACE WITH THOSE WHO HATE JEWS
Chris ,   Bangor,wales   (09.01.10)
On the eve of direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has told Jews living in Judea & Samaria, (what he calls the 'West Bank') to pack up and leave. This is in the wake of his recent comments in Cairo on July 28th. that not a single Jew will be allowed in any Palestinian state - period. A declaration wherein he has also reiterated that not a single Jewish soldier incorporated within any international peacekeeping force will be allowed to enter Palestine either. This has nothing to do with peace, this is purely ethnic cleansing based upon racial discrimination. Activists rightly find the principle of ethnic cleansing to be both repulsive and racist. The exception clearly being when the victims of ethnic cleansing are the Jews. The world has embraced the creation of a Palestinian state, while being largely ignorant of it's prerequisite, which involves the removal of many thousands of Jews from land wherein they have their own 3,000 year heritage. Indeed, rather than the peaceful coexistence of two peoples a Palestinian state is predicated upon totally ridding the land of Jews. Why should this be? Where are the condemnations of Palestinian apartheid, where are the boycotts against the forcible expulsion of Jews from their ancient homeland? If what is being genuinely sought is a 'two state solution' with Israel and 'Palestine' living in peaceful coexistence side by side, why the Palestinian insistence that the territory they receive be ethnically cleansed of Jews? The notion that an Arab state with such a platform of hatred could possibly live at peace with Israel is utterly ridiculous. Gaza has been cleansed of Jews and has shown itself to be a precursor to what will happen in any land ceded by Israel.
