1. three reasons for the murder
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.01.10)
There are three reasons the Fatah cell could murder the four innocent civilians, including a pregnant woman. First, the justice department illegally took one of the victim's guns. There is no reason to ease giving gun licenses. Simply make the attorney who stole the victim's gun financially responsible for the orphans. Second, in order to gain a warm welcome in Washington, Ehud Barak removed IDF security checkpoints. Although he can't be tried for the murder he facilitated, his immediate dismissal for the catastrophic failure is in order. The third reason is that Obama's unabated anti-Jew incitement led the Fatah to believe that Jew-hunting is an acceptable sport. Netanyahu should refuse any further talks sponsored by Obama. He should invite Abbas for talks sponsored by Putin who, at the very least, is much less a Jew-hater.
2. Good and about time
Omri ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
A pitty that's the Palestinian reaction to peace talks. Make more terror so Israel is more stressed to give you a better deal ah? Wait 10 years and see what the settlements do to you if that's how you think.
3. Don't understand this always happens
Michael   (09.01.10)
when Israel extends its hands. When common sense prevail. We had security with roadblocks. why change the staus quo? Having security with no "peace" is much better than having "piece" on paper and be less secure. i guess common sense doesn't exist in the world of politics.
4. :: Knee-jerk reactions
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (09.01.10)
These religious extremist are already armed to the teeth as recent terror attacks upon innocent WB Palestinians has shown. Removing valid restrictions on gun control will flood the illegal settlements in the WB with firearms which will only embolden these settlers to commit further acts of terror. It is a simple equation for disaster: violent religious extremists + more guns = further bloodshed and terror attacks If Israel was interested in peace it would be disarming these violent settlers and relocating them back to Israel.
5. Annex Yehudah and Shomron (aka West bank)
Jewish blood ,   isn't cheap   (09.01.10)
It's time to bring Hevron, Ariel and Ma'ale adumim under full Israeli jurisdiction. This land is inextricably linked with the Jewish people, and after waiting 2000 years to get it back, we won't be giving it up again. Palestine, Shamalestine. All arabs living between the river and the sea, always have Jordan and 21 other Arab countries to call home. Respect the Jewish people as a minority in their land, or apply for visa.
6. no weapons for the jews
vitenberg ,   FRANCE   (09.01.10)
In 1947 the British didn't permit the settlers (halutzim) to have weapons When the Palmah was "at work" during the night, one was waiting the death of his comrade to take his weapon. More than two-thirds gave their life and weapons came later at spring 1948 Now the bureaucraty is not better than the british one was... In several cases the British gave or sod arms to the jews...
7. Target ALL Hamas Leaders
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (09.01.10)
Israel needs to establish deterrents by liquidating the Hamas leadership
8. #7 - And I assume that your son or daughter...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (09.01.10)
... is in one of the units that will carry out this dangerous mission?
9. Pistol Confiscated
Krakken ,   USA   (09.01.10)
The apparatchik that confiscated the victim's handgun prior to the attack should be arrested as an accomplist.
10. What illegal settlements
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (09.01.10)
Matty, there are very few illegal settlements in the West Bank. They may be disputed but not illegal. When some of them are put up without permission, they are dismantled. As far as what you refer to as religious extremists, they are for the most part patriotic Israelis and the majority have served in the IDF and therefore are responsible gun owners.
11. Criminal behaviour
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.01.10)
Who does he think he is, changing the law because he doesn't like it? That is criminal behaviour and totally unacceptable.
12. #4 no, not really
Omri ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
It will only make sure the other side isn't defenseless to the Arabian radicals. That's because in Judaism there is no such thing as "Jewish jihad" or anything like that. We believe we may be the chosen people but god cares about all humans.
13. #6 britain got less credit then that
Omri ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
Because even in 1948 the weapons that came where mostly from the soviets due to the embargo no the middle east. There was only a 10days window for the jews to buy weapons in that war where the Arab countries got British arms in masses until the all out Arabian offensive in 1948. But in this case there is no embargo on the settlements, its only normal license needed. But right now where that license can get more killed then saved it would be only better to put the need for license aside for now. At least until the peace is made.
14. BTW, Matty - you seem to be a one-man boycott
Brian Cohen ,   Peoples FrontofJudea   (09.01.10)
I was at Rami Levi yesterday just before the terrorist attack. It was indeed full of Palestinians totally ignoring the boycott call by the PA. Word spread quickly and the Arabs emptied out just after the murders, as the police and army set up roadblocks. Will the Arabs stay away from Rami Levi? No. Will they buy pizza and burgers there alongside us "settlers"? Yes. And you apparently missed my rebuttal to you last week where you claim that Gush Etzion is "illegal". Not in the slightest. The land out here was legally owned by Jews before 1948, meaning the Arabs could not acquire the land by war. The UN partition plan (go back and read it, Matty) specifically stated that the Jews had every right to stay and get citizenship in the new Pal state. Well, we're obviously here legally and awaiting the outcome of the peace talks. Should Pal citizenship be the only option, it's the choice we will have to make. Until then, we're very legal here as determined by the UN itself.
15. if they hadn't been there in the first place
ghs   (09.01.10)
they wouldnt be dead now. simple.
16. #15 Agreed if those inhuman murderers hadn't been there
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.01.10)
then they wouldn't have been able to murder innocent people. Now the problem is how do you distinguish between normal and murderous Palestinians.
17. desmantle illegal settlement and they wont need guns
ezra   (09.01.10)
thats just arming another terrorist
18. :: Brian - #14
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (09.01.10)
No I saw your post and replied, from what I recall my post wasn’t published. The bare bones of my reply was something along these lines: “was” being the key word in your sentence. There was lots of land ‘legally owned’ by Jews *and* Palestinians/Arabs all over the region of Palestine before 1948. If you wish to have me or anyone else recognize your claim to legally owned land before 1948 you must also recognize the Palestinian claims to land legally owned in what is now Israel before 1948. I would also ask the most basic of questions: are all the current settlements in the Gush Etzion area located on what was ‘legally’ owned by Jews back in 1948? Take your time replying as I’m dipping out now for a few hours but if you want to discuss this matter in more detail I suggest you post on one Opinion threads as they don’t drop off the homepage so quickly. Also while I think of it I have another question for you regarding the so-called “no-man’s land” west of Jerusalem but I’ll save that for another time.
19. #15&17 Next "illigal settelment" - Tel-Aviv!
Rehavam ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
and VERY SOON. what you gona say then???
20. brian - r u 4 real?
oferdesade ,   israel   (09.01.10)
isnt the people's front for judea a monty python joke? or r u claiming also for the Judean People's Front Crack Suicide Squad as well? as 4 eli yishai and his political harangues, i swear, the guy's trying to set himself up as the local judean red nex society. foreigners abuse their children, their kids are an abomination, give 'em all guns... pailin must give him the hots.
21. And Matty, talking about knee-jerk reactions
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.01.10)
It's hard not to miss in #4 above that you ignore the fact that Palestinian gunmen murdered four innocent Israeli civilians. Instead of calling for the disarming of Palestinian militants in the west bank, you call for the disarming of Jews. You seem to be giving us the message that you don't believe the Palestinians are interested in peace. You also seem to be giving us the message that you approve of radical Arabs running around shooting unarmed Israelis, yet you are hell-bent on making sure that the Israelis are disarmed so they can't shoot back. Also - what "recent terror attacks upon innocent WB Palestinians" are you talking about? Please specify. The facts show that in the past five months 5 Israelis were shot and killed, several others wounded, and hundreds of rock and molotov-cocktail throwing incidents by Palestinians have taken place. You're not making sense.
22. I don't need to take my time
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.01.10)
The bottom line is that the respective governments will negotiate a settlement, not you and me. As a voter, I have no choice but to respect the decision my government takes and implements. I might not like it of course, but I won't break the law. I have serious doubts that the Palestinians can indeed negotiate anything they'll be prepared to sign on - they don't want those armed Hamas guys (the ones you don't seem to think are as much of a problem as us "settlers") coming after them. Like I said, Matty, you seem to be big on international laws and agrements and all things past - like UN resolutions. You like to blow off a lot of steam citing "illegal" Israel this or that, yet as your post #4 above shows - you have an inherent bias in the support of Palestinian war crimes. Otherwise you'd have fist called for disarming the terrorists, not the victims.
23. Judean Peoples Front Crack Suicide Squad
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.01.10)
Yea, we're for real. Only problem is that every time the squad practices we have to recruit new members... Eil Yishai lives in Jerusalem, not Judea. We have much more refined rednex out here...
24. 1st common sense move out of Israel in years..............
Justice Perverted ,   NYC US   (09.01.10)
About freaking time. The blood of these 4 is on the police and the leftist supreme court who manipulate and control the government
25. Time that Israel will really understand...
Jonathan   (09.01.10)
That nobody would care if they remove all the checkpoints, to show 'kindness', or not. In Europe these acts of Barak (removing the checkpoints, not giving Israelies weapons to protect themselves, etc.) seems, at best, as stupidity. Protect Israel, the rest is BS !
26. #19 - Exact same thing
ghs   (09.01.10)
27. defenseless
(09.01.10)
prior to the "Kristallnacht" Jews had to hand their weapons in.
28. How did they know noone in the car was armed
(09.01.10)
How did they know that noone in the car was armed?
29. rectification to #13
vitenberg ,   FRANCE   (09.01.10)
Sorry but the arms didn't come from Soviet Union, but from tchechoslovakia, the president was a jew, Slansky, and he was hung after a ritual criminal trial for zionism. Most of the weapons were german made by Skoda in Tchekia, for example the "fusil-mitrailleur" was german "Spandau" made in tchekoslovakia, very much better than the british "bren"; We put it on a jeep, and yallah kadimah! Lod , Beer Sheva...
