Something makes no sense. Why stop the sale of this meat?? Just make sure that it is labeled appropriately. When I was growing up, the local Jewish supermarket had a big sign stating that all meat was not kashered. How hard is that??

I actually applaud the Rabbinate on this. It should have been done years ago. It is a VERY BIG stumbling block in front of people who do not know any better about Kashering. I remember when I visited Israel for the first time when I was 14, and went into a supermarket and saw Lo Muchshar on a lot of the meat, I remember thinking why are these supermarkets which are supposed to be kosher selling non-kosher meat? Then I found out it meant that the meat was not soaked and salted (the koshering process), but was slaughtered properly. But I was still confused, why would they sell it like that? Wouldn't, some, people eat it as is? If they did, then what's the point in selling it? That's why in America virtually all kosher meat comes to butchers fully koshered from the factory. ....cannot eat the koshered meat for medical reasons because of the high salt content. The grill everything, like liver, which isn't soaked and salted. This kind of thing will even create problems for some observant Jews. I hope they go out and protest because I buy my meat at Hinawi, anyway, which actually sells kosherly slaughtered meat anyway, not Halal surprisingly.
