1. Who supports what......
zionist forever   (09.01.10)
Look at how doesn’t support these settlements -- academicians and authors. Look at those who do support the settlements -- dumb rightwing nutters and racists. Says it all doesn’t it?
2. Just wondering How many
Telavivit ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
of the people that boycotted went for a trip to the golan heights this Summer??
3. dumb "PROFESSORS"
tiki ,   belgium   (09.01.10)
You realy don't need to be a professor to understand that this (leftist Ashkenazi) 'boycot by Artists, Writers and Professors is very stupid, it's digging their own grave and that of the State they are living in and who pays their wages. It's scandalous!
4. To those who support boycott
R ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
What are the exact criteria? Do you boycott only Ariel, or beyond '67 borders, or beyond '48 borders, or beyond territory of 2nd temple? Just curious.
5. He sees the move as hypocritical
William ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
"One cannot on the one hand opt for an act of boycott when it suits themselves and claim that it is wrong when Israel as a whole is being threatened with a boycott." Just like you cannot break laws when it suits you but cry when someone else breaks the law and it affects you. Or claim freedom of speech for yourselves and decry it as "racism" when someone else speaks. The Left is all about hypocrisy.
6. #1 - will the real Zionist Fever please step up
William ,   Israel   (09.01.10)
Get lost you fake. No one except a self-righteous Leftist would call supporters of settlements "racists", especially since Intl law and UN resolutions do not forbid settlements on open land.
7. to #4 that is a good point
Golan ,   Modiin   (09.01.10)
And what constitutes "occupation" the 1947 line? the 1948 line? the 1967 line? the 2000 "line" the 1920 peace agreement between the leader of Zionist organization and the leader of the Arabs? And why is Lebanon and Hizbullah not recognize the blue line? And why not the 1936 Peel Commission line?
8. Prof. Ben-Artzi
NYC Girl   (09.01.10)
"Settlers are the root of all evil." Doesn't that sound just a bit hyperbolic? Apparently, the good professor has reserved none of his wrath for Palestinian terrorists and their genocidal leaders. That's why people like Ben-Artzi have turned some of us into leftist apostates.
9. political correctness
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.01.10)
The politicians of the academic establishment have always been cowards...they "sucked up" to their teachers from Kita aleph, wrote unorginal, uncritical papers and exams to satisfy the criteria of the Ministry of Education, behaved as good boys and girls (what we call "normative" today) and ended up as the establishment in their own academic institutions. As Graucho Marx said "They have principles, but if someone objects to them, they also have other principles". Israeli universities are under threat of boycott, precisely for the reason that they do not take a principled stand against the evils of Occupation.
10. profs must refuse salaies then and israel must boycott payin
ralph   (09.01.10)
paying their salaries.
11. disgusting boycott
pini ,   usa   (09.02.10)
they should leave Israel. Do they realize its our land, green line shmeen line, the entire region is ours and we have been allowing muslimes to live there for WAY too long
12. #9 - Yet, an academic boycott is also hypocritical
William ,   Israel   (09.02.10)
Whether the Israeli academia take a position on "occupation" or not, it's always been academia that allowed sides to continue discussions when politics end such cross-border discussions. Boycotting academics in Israel is 100% political and comes from only a few countries which have made themselves 100% pro-Palestinian by choice and in everything they do. That aside, there is NO reason for Israeli academia to even get involved in politics, but if they do want to speak about reason for Israel's win in 1967 and the legality of settlements on open land - land that was illegally ethnically cleansed of Jews just 29 years earlier - then I would welcome it.
13. Settlements source of evil?
Renana   (09.12.10)
He says that settlements are source of all evil. But they are essential for Israel's security (e.g. President Johnson's commander in chief). There is no danger to Jewish democracy, since there is no need for territorial continuity since Arabs and Jews in West Bank can vote to different parliaments (just as neighbours north and south of the border in Ireland vote to far away parliaments and many other examples). And International law calls for encouragement of settlements: www.mythsandfacts.org http://www.israpundit.com/archives/26612
