1. Israeli cultural institute
Xena   (09.05.10)
This is a great initiative, which should be duplicated in all the capitals around the world but I would say that it should have a dual purpose, not just to 'strengthen Jewish identity and connect with Israel', but also play a pivotal role in forging and strengthening bilateral cultural and scientific links in and with host countries. Israel is more than the 'conflict'; the arts and sciences are flourishing and it is about time to show, and share with the world, the amazing, and innovative works of Israeli artists, writers, composers, scientists, designers, etc etc. Such an initiative should be supported and funded by the Israeli government. Many countries promote their culture through similar centers, the US through their American Centers, France through the French Institutes, Germany through the Goethe Institutes, the UK through the British Councils, just to name a few.
2. From Budapest: words of wisdom
Bela ,   Budapest - Hungary   (09.05.10)
As an old Hungarian Holocaust survivor I want to remind you to this: as long as the Israeli-Jewish community doesn't distance itself from Bolshevism, the Hungarian Antisemitism will be stoked up by this institution. Jews are keen "not to remember" their prominent role in the spread of Communism but their victims do! It wont help by saying that Bela Kun and his Lenin Boys (1919) were not "true" Jews, or Mathias Rakosi (1945-1956) weren't either...the victims that these bastards hanged or imprisoned are regarded as the martyrs of the Judeo-Bolshevik rule. The Books on Fascism have been closed at Nürnberg but the "The Black Book of Communism" (Harvard University Press) is still open. Nothing is forgotten nor forgiven in Hungary as far as the Red Terror concern.
3. #2 Anti-Jewish nonsense from Budapest
Menachem ,   Israel   (09.06.10)
It is a popular anti-semitic myth to frame the communist opression which hit Jews as bad as non-Jews as a "Jewish design". The leading communists of Jewish descent constituted a tiny fraction of the total number of the Jewish people and did not enjoy the popular support from the majority of the Jewish people. Most of the "Jewish" communists were assimilated Jew-haters themselves like Marx, Trotskij and Rosa Luxemburg. As a contrast, millions of Hungarians like you, have not distanced themselves from traditional Hungarian anti-semitism and fascism. Quite the contrary, anti-semitism and fascism is growing in popularity in Hungary so don't preach about morality. Israel is light years ahead of you in terms of democracy, human rights, economic and technological development.
4. #3. Whitewashing Communism
Bela ,   Budapest - Hungary   (09.06.10)
No matter how much them gotten "assimilated" or "hated their Jewish" roots - they remained ethnically Jewish and the world regards them as such. You cannot "emigrate" from your own skin by self decree. Changing name to Trocky will not annul the fact that he was born as Bronstein, George Soros as Schwarz and so on. And your post fully supports the prevailing consensus that the Jewish people are unwilling or unable denounce the wrongs committed by their brethren. There are very few Marlene Dietrich among the Jews who had the temerity to condemn and censor her German Nation for the horror of the Holocaust. Accept or not, the second Bolshevik totalitarian country - after Russia - was Hungary and the leaders were Jewish to a man. They returned from Moscow in 1948 and usurped the power with the help of the Soviet Army and committed heinous crimes against innocent people. They were chased away during the 1956. uprising but the hatred still lingers on. There is a museum in Budapest, called the "House of Terror" where you can see on display all the horror inflicted upon by the Nazis and the Communist.
5. #4 Jew-hatred and lies go together
Menachem ,   Israel   (09.07.10)
According to your twisted mind, all Georgians should be held personally responsible for the crimes of the Georgian butcher Stalin and all Austrians should be held responsible for the crimes of the Austrian massmurderer Hitler. Your anti-Jewish racism and bigotry is sickening. Thankfully I live in a strong and independent Jewish homeland so I couldn't care the less what Jew-haters like you think.
