1. And the Oscar goes to...
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.04.10)
Benjamin Netanyahu for "The Grifters"
2. Bibi made 12 suggestions, and the PA made 1 - "lets walk out
rebecca ,   Modiin   (09.04.10)
These negotiations were supposed to be kept quiet so that negotiations could occur, not just allegations etc in the press. So the PA is already making a noise - it's about the only thing it's good at. Does not sound like the PA made even one suggestion. And by the way - we note that pulling out all the settlements in Gaza brought us, not peace, but more rockets. PG Bibi has learned from that.
3. Stop racial cleansing of Palestine
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (09.04.10)
Why is it that Israel is expected to keep the 1+ million Arabs who are calling themselves Palestinians but there can be no Jews in a future Palestine?
4. "Stall tactics"??? Erekat should stop lying
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.04.10)
Israel implemented the construction freeze 10 months ago. The Palestinians refused to come to the negotiating table. Stalling? Erekat should look in the mirror and admit that he's a liar, just like his famous quote on CNN of the fictitious Jenin "500".
5. Tear down settlement for peace ?
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (09.04.10)
We tore down settlements already - did it bring us peace or more rockets ?
6. Peaceful muslims - naive,dangerous thinking !
Jaacov Baumann   (09.05.10)
Read the Koran - the muslims are obliged to defeat all other religions - if necessary by force ! Coexistence? Bad joke !
7. Don't let the Palestinians set the media agenda
Ehoop ,   UK   (09.05.10)
8. They need to look up negotiation in the dictionary
Danny   (09.05.10)
Basically the arab model is take it or leave it. When is Israel allowed to just leave it.....
9. Before getting ANYTHING, PA must state how Gaza will adhere
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (09.05.10)
Before Israel takes any "risks for peace" or makes any "painful concessions", Abbas, Hillary and Obama must outline publically and in detail EXACTLY how the rejectionist half of the Palestine Arabs, the half living under Hamas rule (which rejects any form of peace with Israel) will be disarmed and compelled to accept whatever Abbas negotiates. The appearance and reality is that Abbas and the PLO (losers in the last election) do not control or represent the populace they claim to, and will be unable to deliver - are negotiating in bad faith. Israel requires credible guarantees of good faith negotiations - that as of now have a 100% chance of being vetoed by Hamas. Bibi can't be expected to take political risks for nothing, much less to solve Abbas' political risks by extending the "freeze" - not after Obama and Abbas double crossed him over the last 10 months by not delivering what they promised (talks and Arab world gestures for the 1st "freeze").
10. The '67 borders no longer exist. Move on, Erekat.
David ,   Hartford USA   (09.05.10)
The PA can dream as much as they want, but the 1967 borders no longer exist. Any discussions must begin from what's on the ground today. If Erekat and ilk refuse to accept this simple fact, then they might as well go home. The land of Israel is not the '48 border and is not the '67 border. It will be the 2010 border with adjustments. If Abbas and Erekat can't accept reality, then find new PA leadership.
11. Erekat
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (09.05.10)
Erekat is nobody, his boss represents nobody, someone shoul tell him that he is "persona non grata" and that if he is afraid of having to say yes to peace he should state that clearly and not look for stupid arguments. This is the time to see if Obama and Clinton have any guts. Unluckily, I'm sure the only thing they want is more circus to show how devote they are to peace!!!
12. erekat
Jennie ,   US/Israel   (09.05.10)
Natanyahu hasnt even had a chance to take a breath @ home and meet with his cabinet to make the fathful decisions about a so-called peace agreement or the deal better known as selling your land to the devil....And here they are the wolves - growling and salivating....What peace, with whom ? The better question should be, , how big a chunk of they want to bite away from Israel before they are done. .Look at the angry pompeous faces of the abbas and erekat....Sure, why not ? They know, that nobama and hillary won't dare to intimidate them...But Bibi must know, that the most important thing now is to show strenghts and resolve, that Israel and all the Jewish people posess and could demonstrate (and did demonstrate thru all the 66 years of the Jewish State) with his leadership. The same cruicial leadership, that Moshe Dayan, Menachem Begin and Golda Meir showed at such critical times. Bibi:"Kol Haolam Kulo Gesher tzar meod..Ve Haikar Lo Lefached...Chlal". Israeli people will unite behind You, when they see the strengths and resolve in their leader to make lasting peace. It would be best,if peace could be achieved by negotiations, but unfortunately Israel has no partner for that. You can't make peace with fattah or chamas, even if US president and hillary are brokering it (You can't trust neither)...A piece with abbas(fattah) or erekat ? Wait ! Didn't we try it already ? Remember Sharon's dissingagement ? We gave up Gaza, only to give them a wider range for rockets shootings ! Now what ! Give them W.Bank and Jerusalem and we back to 1967 ? But even if we do it - now they are much more numerous and are backed by iran ! So, Israel needs to play tough ball, use all the might with no mercy ! (Our enemies strenghts is in their hate of us, we need to learn some of that) and trust our best ally : THE ALL MIGHTY ! ISRAEL WELCOMES ALL WHO COME WITH PEACE, BUT WILL DEFEAT ALL THOSE WHO DESIRE OUR DEATH AND DESTRUCTION ! AM ISRAEL CHAI !
13. #10 - 67 borders not because Arabs need the land
William ,   Israel   (09.05.10)
It's because they need the hubris ego boost that will ultimately be touted by them in history as causing many wars and senseless deaths...and never having to pay for it - hence, a feed-in to the wide belief of Arab supremacy. Screw them - they're lucky they even have something to negotiate over after the generous offer in 1967, 1994, 2000, etc.
14. Reciprocity
J K ,   NYC, USA   (09.05.10)
Whoever supports birthing a nation who makes it a point to empty it's land of Jews must be out of their mind. If Jews choose to stay and agree to live under PA rule in any lands that might go to a future PA state, why not let them? That, or they must support the repatriation of 500,000 Arabs out of Israel is any peach agreement. Reciprocity or red herring?
15. How about a gesture of decency
Phil ,   PA USA   (09.05.10)
No wonder the Palestinian masses hate Jews and want to destroy Israel. The Palestinian authority always takes shots at Israel---no matter what Israel does or offers to them. For the Palestinians, it's never enough. If you give thema finger, they want the hand. If you give them a hand, they want the whole body. If you give them the body, they think of something else to demand. Always attacking and always negative towards Isreael. What kind of peace can Israel ever expect when the masses are brainwashed into hating Israel?
16. Erakat should be quiet
A leftist   (09.05.10)
What part of negotiations behind closed doors and not in the media doesn't this obstructionist Arafat sycophant understand? Your game is about to end so as Dylan said get out of the way if you can't lend a hand!
17. Bibi's "peace partner" confers with Gadaffi...
Norah ,   LA, USA   (09.05.10)
Nuff said....
18. #5 Barbara
Rami ,   Canada   (09.05.10)
There are around 500,000 settlers in the WB i.e. J&S and they all must be torn down for any chance of peace not to mention East Jerusalem.
19. Erakat Crap
Brod ,   USA   (09.05.10)
If the PA and Hillary's group are serious about peace, they should get rid of Erakat from the PA delegation. They should not have an idiot spewing his crap as if he owns the Land of Israel.
20. Which settlements is he referrng to?
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (09.05.10)
Israel is nowhere near capable of removing all the Israelis presently living in the West Bank. 9,000 Israelis were uprooted from Gaza and it was the biggest Army operation since the Yom Kippur war and it took 10 days. Approximately 500,000 Israelis live in the West Bank, so who could evacuate them? Michael
21. peace process
Charlie ,   Woodmere, NY   (09.05.10)
Eric #3 is correct. In the PA idea of peace, they get a state free of any Jews and Israel is expected to maintain a growing population of Arab citizens. If there is peace, Jews that wish to remain in any territory slotted for a PA state should be allowed to remain. If not, the expulsions should be mutual. Jew free PA state and Arab free Israel. These aren't my preferred outcome, but this seems to be the standard that the PA and the int'l community have in mind. The days of one sided concessions are over.
22. To all those advocating reciprocity.
Sagi   (09.05.10)
Have you travelled through Wadi Ara recently. The rooftops are littered with Palestinian flags. Try and suggest that the borders are moved to include them in a future Palestine, the borders I stress and not the people physically, you will be met with a barrage of epithets telling you that you are a "Nazi racist" and "ethnic cleanser" etc.
23. When one doesn't want to reach peace, one would fault every
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.05.10)
aspect of the process. And, no doubt, when the question of acceptance of Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people will come up, the Muslim-Arabs will accuse Israel of torpedoing the peace... because, and this will not be said, Jews refuse to be singled out and to deny their universally accepted right of nation self-determination and independence.
24. but when palestinians stall, nobody can tell
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.05.10)
palestinians do nothing anyway, so when they stall it is indistinguishable to when they claim to be doing something. pals criticize israel, but it's just to distract from the fact that they never do anything constructive themselves.
25. who are we all kidding here? There will be no peace...
DANNY ,   America   (09.05.10)
not until the end of days and this only happens after the whole world masses to remove Israel from the land. Trust me I have seen the movie and it don't go well for the Jews or the world. But God does restore Israel to the land and brings a great host from heaven to dwell with him there. There will be no Dome of the rock left, but a city come down from heaven not made by human hands, meaning all you muslims will have no place to go, oh except away from the king of Glory, the Prince of Peace and all his Jewish children of promise, and all those grafted into that promise. Remember kids... there will be no peace, except the 3 year false peace set up to fool God's elect, by a bad man who has been ordained for this deceit. Hang on to your butts this is all getting way to close for comfort.
26. # 24 something consttructive? send u packing 2 formerly usa
Yaffa ,   Palestine   (09.05.10)
27. Is Israel proscratinating?
vitenberg ,   France   (09.05.10)
Once more the PA tells us that the only thing interesting them is a return to 1949 cease fire line. Everyone understands that this return is the first act of the military "final solution" of the conflict. Once more the EU, UNO, and so on...will be one-sided on this probem, the PA side. When Israel speaks about "swaps", that means already an implicit acceptance of the PA position. And Israel is really proscratinating when doesn't dare saying the french translation of the 242 is a DISTORTION of the only valid text, the english one; It's possible using liters of ink, saliva and sweat and leave aside the central diplomatic problem. But what use? To sink more?
28. Sobbing Ericut- always sobbing, moaning and crying
Ben ,   Gush Etzion   (09.05.10)
29. I agree with you Danny #25.
Israeli 2   (09.05.10)
