1. Swap Lieberman and Bark
Michael Carr ,   Baltimore   (09.06.10)
I’m not an Israeli citizen, but if I were I’d feel much safer if Lieberman were defense minister and Barak was foreign minister. My impression is that Lieberman is more the hard-nosed realist and Barak is the squishy diplomat. Bibi should swap them around.
2. Am imbecilic will always be an imbecilic no matter what
Ross ,   America   (09.06.10)
3. Leiberman grown fat on American power
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.06.10)
...and feels invincible. Why should he make peace with these little mosquitos buzzing around Israel's head, the Jews can squash them anytime they wish, Jews have the top line American weapons and the UN Veto. But he forgets, Obama will not Veto a Palestinian State.
4. But killing 4 Israelis won't deter peace. Incent to murder?
Mike ,   Atlanta USA   (09.06.10)
5. We should honour Lieberman as a courageous voice of truth.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.06.10)
Deep down inside everyone knows Lieberman is correct. This includes all his critics in the Israeli government. Since they can't rationally debate the obvious truth in his statements about the dangerous, fraudulent "peace talks", they resort to character assassination. They try to silence his words of truth. We must not let them get away with this. We must honour and support Lieberman as a courageous voice of truth. Far too many Israelis have been maimed and murdered by opportunistic politicians chasing Nobel Prizes via the phony "peace process".
6. he should be the Prime Minister
chris ,   wales   (09.06.10)
Lieberman should be the Prime Minister.the more I read about this man,the more I like him. he sees and calls things as they are.he's not CHARMED By the World leaders as Bibi seems to be,and I believe this guy believes in the promises of God. I doubt this guy is tainted with Connections to the CFR Or any Other shadowy groups who are part of the Globalists! unfortunatly Bibi is, and the fact he has put so much trust in Obama is not a good omen. more Likud Ministers must Sound the Alarm bells concerning these negotiations. Only few days ago,the State Department had the Audacity to Compare Settlers with Palestinian Islamic Terrorists right after Terrorists murdered those settlers. if this sort of defamation of Jews by the State department was not an ominous sign,I Don't know what is. this 'Peace' Process is a Trogan horse and Will only lead to a far Bigger war down the road. ezek 38 war and Joel 1-3 Tells us a great Power to the North of Israel will Mobilize the Islamic powers against Israel. Ezel says Extreme North of Israel. This has to be Russia who is arming these nations and want to Monopolize the supply of Gas,energy & Oil and join with the Middle eastern Nations In Making sure Russia become a Great Strategic Super Power again. Israel will probably Discover vast amount of Oil to go with the recent gas reserves they recently discovered.Ezek tells us these nations will want to take a Great Spoil. Putin has gone on Record as saying Russia is the defender or Protector of Islam! Joel 3:2 shows us that the Nations will be Judged because they forced Israel to Divide their God given land. I ask, what does this peace process involve, the answer is Dividing Israel, then Conquer what left when she is thinking she is at rest.this shows us this peace is not genuine and is only to lull Israel into a false sense of security!
7. wake up
dov ,   bs.as argentina   (09.06.10)
when are people going to realize? the PA does not want peace they want Israel quote "peace means the end of the occupation" one says they want land "occupation" the other says it clearer they want to kill us! i agree with liberman, there wont be peace till they change their ways, till terrorists become humans. when they stop teaching their kids to kill jews.... maybe one day peace will be achieved giving away land has proven to be wrong time after time, only jews being killed came out of it
8. Erekat is the same but...
Gabriel ,   Brazil   (09.06.10)
Erekat has been saying basically the same, and no one s complaining about him...
9. Keep Avi but All Must Be Muzzled
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (09.06.10)
Pales negotiator Erekat, demands Israel cave in to demands (67 borders/tearing down settlements, a total freeze on building in the settlements, OR, the talks will end abruptly. Lieberman is indicating that propects for a final settlement are dismal..given the history of the conflict. Who is being stubborn and negative? Okay, so make Livni F.M. and bring Kadima into the govt..and call the Pales bluff. She will side with Abbas and Fayyads approach..which would be contrary to Bib's redl lines..Who will prevail..which approach is in Israel's interests? Best for both sides to be tight lipped and say nothing now. Otherwise..what is their future?
10. Arabs murder 4 Jews and continue to attack Jews every day
Marcella   (09.06.10)
and it's Avigdor Lieberman - foreign minister in name only - who threatens peace by expressing mere skepticism? And how is this for statements that threaten peace: Saeb Erekat, Palestinian chief negotiator was quoted by the Jerusalem Post a few days ago saying: - “This is the time for decision-making, not negotiations.” (In other words: this is a hold up.) - “Israel destroyed settlements in the Gaza Strip and Sinai, and we hope that this experience will be repeated for the third time in the West Bank,” (He wants Israel's experience with Gaza to be repeated. Anyone listening to this guy out there?)
11. Dahlan also said: Bibi is perfidious
observer   (09.06.10)
you can't trust any of those politicians
12. The Truth Hurts! but Bibi doesn't have the courage to admit
Shalom   (09.06.10)
this fact that it is quite unattainable. Bibi is aware of the truth that peace is something politicians like to play around with and good stuff for the media but he doesn't have the courage that the Russian born Lieberman has. Bibi needs some on-the-job-training from Lieberman.
13. To Atilla Somfalvi
Jennie ,   US/Israel   (09.06.10)
Your article would do better in a comic strip publication, then on this board...Are you kidding? You didn't articulate one good fact or argument, that would overturn Minister Lieberman's statement. Is Lieberman impediment to peace ? Really? But the recent murders of 5 innocent Israeli civilians by the chamas or fattah is not impediment to peace !? Based on all the historical facts of the past 65 years in the history of Israeli defensive wars, withdrawals and the story of Gaza, since 1973, 82,etc.. and the most recent murderous terror act- just serves as another eye opener, that Israel never had and will never have a partner to negotiate peace with, no matter how much land they will let to be annexed from Israel..How many times can Israel afford to be fooled. Look at the map of ME. You have to really look very hard to find Israel on it. Lieberman is absolutely correct and I salute his currage to say the unpopular truth. Can logical objective person be optimistic about this TRAP, they call -peace talks ?
14. Lieberman
Baruch ,   Marin County, CA   (09.06.10)
By torpedoing the talks, Lieberman plays right into the hand of the Russians, his old stomping ground. Keeping the conflict going between the settlers and the Pals is precisely what Tehran wants so that the right wing will grow in strength and cause friction between the US and Israel because the media will lap it all up. Alternatively, I wouldn't put it past this government to throw up Lieberman as a PR smokescreen by threatening the peace process, when in fact it is moving along smartly. It is important to consider the strategic importance of the territories has changed. No longer are they used by Israel as a wedge against two competing superpowers. Now the territories are being used by Tehran as a wedge between Israel and itself and against the US. In any case, perhaps the best solution is to support a state comprised of Palestinian Arabs and Jewish settlers. Let them both have a stake in the territories. Let them work it out on their own together. The Israeli military and the resources of the government need to go toward working against a rapidly growing, formidable foe, namely, Iran. For once, Israel has the chance to work together with its Arab neighbors on this issue. Why shouldn't they? Both do not want to see Iran become the dominant player in the region. Israel should not blow this chance for the sake of some guy who happens to be the foreign minister and used to be a bouncer at a nightclub. Some wisdom and long-term strategic thinking are badly needed right now if for no other reason to add some sanity and clarity to this thing that apparently is getting out of control.
15. Good for Lieberman
Broomer ,   USA   (09.06.10)
He dared to do one thing no one else dared - to tell the truth. Kol Hakavod! I hope he'll be Israel's next PM!
16. Rubbish. Pal' ministers *have* said worse!
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.06.10)
"Can you imagine what would have happened if the Palestinian foreign minister had made such a statement?" So says an unnamed "cabinet minister" (from Labor, no doubt). Get a clue. Palestinians from Abbas on down have said far worse than this - Abbas himself this very weekend. Nor do those who accuse Lieberman of going "off message" have anything to complain about, since Peres and Barak have been freelancing since they took their oaths of office. Lieberman is only saying what Netanyahu is either too clueless or too intimidated by Obama and Clinton to say.
17. he's 100% correct, but ...
dan kaplan ,   usa   (09.06.10)
some things are better said in private.
18. Lieberman is the Best leader Israel has
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (09.06.10)
If the reports about negotiating at the point Olmert Left off is true as well as other reports of concessions then Bibi is nothing more than a puppet of Ehud Barak Labor Kadima and the United States he does not even care about his own Likud Party. I thought he was a better leader I was wrong. If Bibi does not realize that Barak works for the United States not Israel Bibi is not fit to continue to be leader of Israel. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com

21. "NO WAR"... is to be waged with...
Roland Seener ,   London England   (09.06.10)
anyone in the world without offering them terms of PEACE,whether it is an optional war,or a religious war,as it is written:"When you approach a town to attack it,you shall first offer it terms of PEACE"...(Deuteronomy20:10)...Halachot Melachim Chapter 6..."RAMBAM"
22. Lieberman
Eyal ,   USA   (09.06.10)
Don't listen to them, they are all talk trying to look good for the world, specially Hussain Obama. There are too many obstacles and I can't see around them other than war. Assuming the PA excepts Israel as a Jewish nation and let's assume Israel gives back East Jerusalem and the West bank, what's going to happen with Hamas, Jihad, etc... in Gaza? Aren't they going to be part of this deal when they finalize everything? Are the PA going to control them, even though Hamas, Jihad, etc... are stronger than the PA? What kind of peace are we talking here, when security for Israelis are at stake? It doesn't really take a genius to realize this. I personally don't think the Likud will agree to the refugee issue the PA is seeking, cause it will be the same principals as 1 state solution. Is Bibi going to give East Jerusalem away? I really doubt he will and even if he did, it will be too small for the PA to accept. Too many problems and too many issues. Lieberman says it as it is and even though a lot don't like him, he really does state what everyone really thinks deep down. A war is bound to break with Hamas, Hezbollah/Lebannon, Syria and Iran and that should determine the future forever. Israel will remain Israel for ever and will become even more powerful and larger.
23. the emporer's new clothing
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (09.06.10)
Libermann happens to have a big mouth, so what? How many idiots in Kenneset foolow him? He also happens to be correct in his view since he understands the arab mind. They PM's seem to fall prey like Charlie Brown, see: http://news.yahoo.com/comics/peanuts;_ylt=Ahb1Y677Vb_P5_OM.LYS5YkDwLAF
24. What did he say?
Shalom Hartman   (09.06.10)
Quote: "Can you imagine what would have happened if the Palestinian foreign minister had made such a statement? We'd all be jumping down his throat." Don't the PA say this all the time?
25. I wonder why
Arie ,   BaGolan   (09.06.10)
when Lieberman states an opinion about the talks, he is declared a reactionary right-winger, yet the Palestinian leaders like Erekat that are saying the exact same thing are "moderates."
26. #19 Bunnie Meyer make aliah it will set you free
Avi ,   Israel   (09.06.10)
27. Looks like thet're looking to make him the ladder to climb
Bat Zion ,   Centre, Israel   (09.06.10)
off the peace talks they were forced to
28. Do the Palestinians "have one government or two" ?
Ovadia Salama ,   New York,NY, USA   (09.06.10)
Obviously, Palestinians do have two governments, "with two foreign policies". They are called the PA and the Hamas. Perhaps, they actually have far more than two. So why shouldn't the Israelis ? Having two contradictory foreign policies has always been excellent politics, very effective at confusing the enemy. Lieberman is doing a fine job for the best interests of Israel. Go for it, Victor Lieberman! Ovadia Salama
29. What a waste!
Rob ,   JHB SA   (09.06.10)
Lieberman speaks the truth. The only man of reason in that area. Bibi is a weak snake in the park. How much money was wasted on this useless effort?? I wish they would have used those wasted millions to support war victims and clean out the area from drugs and outlaw activity and rehabilitate those misplaced people they call Palestinians. Might be a good idea to educate them on international law so they stop believing they have a stake in Israel.
30. Lieberman: A 1 Man Show in 1 Act
iObserver and News ,   USA-Israel   (09.06.10)
While Lieberman often displays qualities of an intelligent diplomat he always erases his progress with the most arrogant, foolish outbursts and speeches while leaves little room for questioning his overall lousy performance. If such a politician existed in the United States, he'd have been recalled and remained among the laughing stock of political anals. Indeed, he is a danger, NOT because he speaks the truth but because of his blatantly obvious timing to stir controversy and undermine political opponents. He is extremely immature, clod-headed and above all: ARROGANT. Sooooo European, its rediculous. Perhaps 3-4 generations from now, one of his offspring will be far enough away from Europe to start acting like a Jew and a Sabra. So sad when idiots like Lieberman come along to embarass the living hell out of Israel and turn his own friends against the whole state: that would be Americans. Israelis would be smart to refuse this man any further political appointments and let him fade off into the college speaking circuit to be booed off stage. Otherwise, we'll have a hell of a price to pay. DOWN WITH LIEBERMAN; HE'S A CLOWN.
