The original reason for Israel's rebirth, was for a Jewish state, period. The Palestinians need to get over it. The so-called "Right of Return" is a non starter along with most of the other conditions they are demanding.

A badly written soap opera could offer more surprises than this poor repeat show. As a Jewish settler it can be hard to find common ground with Abbas, but I must admit that he's just as victim to this US election ploy than Bibi or anyone else. Palestinians will never (ever) recognize the state of Israel as a "Jewish" state, just as we don't expect you to recognize Palestine as an Islamic or Christian state. Just the same as Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan have no official religions. The only acceptable recognition of Israel already came in 1988 - and that is of "the state of Israel". Anybody who thinks more can come out of the negotiations on this subject is simply dreaming. You're reading the opinion of a liberal, Wester-educated Palestinian.
