Frankly, I don't understand German politics? Are the Muslims using welfare at a higher rate than other population groups? What did he mean that Jewish and Basque's have a different gene? Could somebody from Germany explain? Thanks.

What was he saying? If Jewish people have a distinctive gene, like Ashkenazim Jewish people are tested for Tay-Sachs disease in pregnancy, was it a put down by this guy? From the article I read he said something about different Genes (DNA), was that a statement that Jewish and Basque's are an inferior people? Sarrazin says that Muslims dont integrate into our society as well as other immigrant groups. And that we are fucked as a people because we don’t have enough children. But you cant say something like that in Germany since you are not allowed to separate people on religion or culture. Our higher ups call that racism. Regarding the gene thing – he was ask by a reporter if there is – and I quote –a genetic idenity of different people (people as in a nation, not individuals). He said, yes the Jews as a people have genes that identify them as the jewish people and the same is true for Basque's as well. His answer wasn’t 100% scientificly correct, it was an spontaneous answer to a question not linked to the current topic of the interview. Thing is, everyone just needed and excuse to jump at him. And since its very incorrect to use the words Jews and gene in one sentence in germany, they used it against him. Its total BS to think that he is an anti-Semite or something. I know here in the U.S. we have had similar arguments. For instance with our southern border with Mexico. The Hispanics come in...some believe...and take advantage of our welfare system, using our naturalization laws. But its tough to have a debate, because there are bigots and racists, in that movement. So its hard to have an intellectual conversation without that coming into play. Even though there are legitimate arguments to made. Without it becoming a racial issue. With regard to the Jewish people and Gene differences, even if Sarrazin thinks highly of the Jewish people. At some other time that same argument could be used against any given people to say they are inferior. Plus I believe it was used by Hitler to argue that Jewish people were inferior and cause of all problems in Europe. So I can understand their sensitivity to that kind of thinking. In the end, it is the kind of discussion that could be, what they call, a slippery slope.

The website endorses a kind of mixed religion. Should the link imply, that those who care about genes (when it comes to religion) are sectarians? Then say it clearly, it's O.K. But it's not o.k. to imply that among people who have a mixed religion are more gene fanatics than in the average population.

I have just read where if this man runs for political office he will garner nearly 20% of the German vote.Charlotte Knobloch is always hysterical and no doubt does not represent the rank and file of most of Germany's Jews as those self appointed American "Jewish Leaders" dont represent American Jews.This was a stupid and serious mistake to call for his ouster and I fear the Jewish communities will pay for this especially the smaller ones.For sure it will hasten the end of a community that probably never should have been renewed in the first place.

To be terribly afraid of anything said or done for the sake of the jewish people. And for the record, jews are not defined by ancestry but by religion. A russian converted to judaism will have their children fully "Kosher" jews. Thinking jews are a race shows some very specific way of thinking rooted back to the beginning of the last century. It is obvious that the muslim community was the one behind his resignation, "riding" on the back of what was said (and why at all an economist would speak about it, using his position to promote such thinking - a future political carier?) about the jews. So even if he did not mean anything against the jews, with that kind of thinking he is surely not some kind of a pro-jewish wrongly accussed.

"Jews" do not have a problem with this statement. It is Muslims who were offended by his comment that they are stupid. As a Jew I have zero problem with having genitic markers, AS LONG AS NO ONE COMPARES ME TO A RAT, A PIG, or A MONKEY and decides to KILL me and MINE as a consequence!
