2. is it hate crime?
observer   (09.11.10)
Jews feel that every-body else in the world hates them. So, it is not hate crime but burning Quran triggers a rise in hate crimes. What a relief for Jews.

5. Bible is the very word of G-D, written in our heart...
Matthew 28:19 ,   singapore   (09.11.10)
"ye are manifestly declared to be epistle of Christ. written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living G-D, not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tablets of the heart." 2 Cor 3:3 Bible is lived out in our daily life, some even died depending it, martyrs been burnt for it. men can do all they want to burn the literal papers, but the WORD OF LIFE whom the Word spoke of live on eternally. thru history, men has been burning torah scrolls and bibles... but the fire from the Spirit touches even more lives. (btw, true christian will not go burn arab countries' flag because our beloved Bible were burnt. we let GOD do His job. Jews will not burn palestinian flag too if torah is burn! this is the difference between children of the light and children of darkness) dear Ynet, kindly post it. many thanks.

I can read in Talmud and it makes me sick, yet I would not support to burn it. Its shoul stay around as evidence for future Court cases...
11. Freedom of expression & SA
Christian ,   Sweden   (09.11.10)
The decision by the SA court is only one of several different signs that SA is taking leave of Western democracy. Freedom of expression is of no value if you are not allowed to hurt the feelings or sensitivities of others. And burning a Bible or Quran is only about sensitivities. No physical harm is done to any human being. Nor is my faith as a Christian hurt but rather strengthend. So, please be my guest Mr Mohammed Vawda and burn as many copies of the Bible as you wish. This is of minor importance. What is important here is that islamofascism threatens the West with violence and war if we refuse in our part of the world to play according to their rules and as a consequence severely limit freedom of expression in our countries. What cheek! The only correct answer to that insolence would be, please make our day and we will finish the business once and for all.

16. Burning the Bible
Moragh   (09.11.10)
Who gives a hoot! I have the Lord Jesus in my heart... and are you people aware that He is the Son of God. And I ask 'is there anyone who can better that?' I hate to burst your bubble, but He is alive and well. So take my Bible muslims or anyone else and do what you like with it.... that does not kill the Living God!
17. #15 - jj
Moragh   (09.11.10)
You're right jj, it is just a book but if you don't know it or believe it.... you're sunk!
18. #8 this article let you believe this is about old testament
(09.11.10)
but when Americans refer to "the bible" they usually mean the new testament.
19. circumcision
David ,   USA, exile   (09.11.10)
There is no Old Testament and there is no New Testament, there are only Scriptures. Because some man decided to insert a page separating one portion from the other doesn't mean it is real. I have circumcised my Bible. That manmade page has been removed. Men have argued for thousands of years about what is included in Scripture. I will not go there.
20. Bibles
Marilyn ,   USA   (09.11.10)
No one cares. They burn or shred bibles and we make more. It is not like we're going to run out any time soon.
21. Maybe Muslims need to change their image
William ,   Israel   (09.11.10)
The response to everything from a cartoon and insistence on women's rights to burning the koran, is met with hatred, violence, and monumental threats by Muslims. Even radical protesters at the WTO look completely benign when seeing the massive hatred in Muslim protests, which usually result in burning embassies, attacked bystanders, and burning flags - a piece of cloth that means a lot to a great deal of people. Whenever a jihadist gets in front of a camera, they are ALWAYS holding an open koran to a Sura that justifies their heinous actions. What is the casual onlooker supposed to believe? The many images of Muslims using the koran to justify war crimes, or someone on CNN telling us Muslims are wonderful people? Maybe, instead of threats of violence and curses, Muslims like this SA businessman, could hold a peaceful vigil, an education sit-it, and definitely stand-up against the violence by the jihadis themselves. Muslims were very quiet this 9/11 and offered no condemnation of this attack 9 years ago, further supporting the Western belief that they sanctioned it.
22. #2 - really hard to compare the two
William ,   Israel   (09.11.10)
You're trying to compare the burning of a religious book with the systematic deligitmization of a population's own State and even their history. The burning of the koran, by this one pastor, is an attack not on Muslims but on the hatred he believes this book stands for. Conversely, the attacks on Jews focus on ALL aspects of their lives - to destroy their State, to undermine their own history in the region, and to accept war crimes against them as "justified". Besides, to the Western world, a holy book is just that...a "book". Yet, Muslims, who claim to hold nothing to the level of Allah, DO hold Muhammed to a very high-esteem, almost god-like, and the Koran as the home of Allah himself (though there's not a shred of proof to it). Burning the koran is not a hate crime, but attacking a person because of their faith, gender, or sexual orientation...IS!
23. #7 - you mean because they blocked the bible burning?
William ,   Israel   (09.11.10)
That's actually very stupid of you to say. SA has a different set of laws on free speech and hate actions because of their apartheid past. Judging the world by the Constitution and Laws of the US is a very silly thing to do because almost nobody subscribes to them on the level of the Americans. That's both good and bad, but no human invention is perfect. I think the fact that this moron wanted to burn the bible simply shows the knee-jerk, violent reactions that is endemic in the Muslim culture everywhere.
