Considering how much Mohammed borrowed from Judaism to construct his new religion, it's really very appropriate to have a Jewish Star on the Qur'an. If Mohammed did the same thing today, he would be sued for copyright infringement & plagarism. Of course, he didn't do such a good job, he got a lot of it confused & mixed up. Is the next thing that they will do is remove Quran references to the Children of Israel "Bani Israil" and the prophet Yacoub (PBUH) also referred to as "Israil" in the Quran? Many English translations of the Quran also have changed the name of the chapter "Children of Israel" to "The Night Journey". "Bani Israil" in Arabic is now "Al-Isra" in Arabic for the 17th chapter of the Quran.

A telling story indeed ! What Arab Muslims in Algeria and other places seem to have entirely forgotten is that the so-called "Star of David" was a Muslim symbol, known as "Suleiman's Seal", until very recently. It was even the national symbol of Morocco until 1956 and as such was displayed on the royal Moroccan banner. Indeed, it fell in disuse only when the Jews, in desperate search of symbol of their own to oppose to the Christian cross, picked it up in the 19th century, and when the Zionist movement turned it into a national symbol. It is quite a common thing for antisemites to renounce their heritage when it is "tainted" by some association with the Jews. Incredibly, Hitler banned Germany's national script - the Gothic script - in 1941 because he believed it looked to much like the medieval Hebrew Rashi script.

The Magen David is not actually a historical holy symbol for jews but it has been adopted as one by diaspora jews over the last couple of hundred years. I don't know though what it has to do with muslims and why the thing should have ever been put on. Is this some attempt to convert jews to islam to put what are considered jewish symbols on the koran? Banning the books and giving money back was the right decision.
