1. Hmmm
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.24.10)
Looks like all the attempts of the Arab run leftist-media in Israel is not working. Thank you Ynet for being brave enough to print what every knows. What else will the great nation of Israel do when they see the repulsive state of the other nations in the world? Answer: Return to the God of Israel that the world has tried for centuries to hijack.
2. Yes but if Israeli Jews practice Judaism, how will the Left
steve ,   haifa   (09.24.10)
Yes but if Israeli Jews practice Judaism, how will the Left ever manage to persuade them to commit national suicide for the Palestinians and their leftist friends?
3. Israel's Jewishness
Pheppsie ,   Netanya   (09.24.10)
A rich Jewishness, religious and cultural, is endemic to Israel, part of the air that is breathed. This is what strongly attracted me to it when I was a kid, not very observant, growing up in America. It was a boat that, if you boarded it, you would be part of Jewishness and stay Jewish no matter what.
4. Its About the 613, Not Holidays
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (09.24.10)
Who cares really? Dont you guys get it, a Jew is a Jew is a Jew. The observances of holidays, while part of the culture, is not what its about, except for the high holy days. Ask anyone who attented the UN session this week, who and what is a Jew? The answers might surprise you. Ask Ahmad, the Pres. of Turkey, even the US Pres..Yes, secular Jews are Jews, just as Orthodox and traditional. Only the ceremonies differ..and type/degree of observance. Skull caps or none..kosher or not, its not about the garb or what goes in ones mouth. Its whats comes out of ones head. Get it. Its our concept of G-d, and his destiny for us. Its our belief in the now, and not the hereafter. Its our morays and folkways, and morality. It not about a Godhead, or reincarnation. Its all about who runs and controls our lives, and who doesnt. Its about individual choice, not some definite plan from above. Its about our changing universe..its about our analysis of the Torah. Its about sin and prayer. We do not ask for anything in prayer. Prayer is a way to understand an invisable Divinity. We do not expect miracles., we create them. Its about how we treat one another. Its about loving our Divine and giving charity. That is Judaism..We are not Christians, or Buddists or Muslims or Mormons. Our messiah is still to come. We are not born in original sin..our babies are Jewish, not to be somehow cleansed. Its about deeds, and not the WORD. We have no faith, we have our treatment of one another. We dont have words, we have concepts.
5. Equal and Disappearing
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (09.24.10)
Left, right, middle, have nothing to do with Israels religious diversity. Israel's attitude towards the Pales is all about survival...and the continued existence of the country as a Jewish homeland,or state of the Jews. Whether for a greater Israel,or a truncated..a few miles matter nothing. Israel at 8,000 miles or 8500 sq miles..to the Jordan R. or beyond, or having or not having the Golan..is all about security. Controlling the holy sites IS however, part of our religion, just as Mecca is part of Islam and Jerusalem part of Christianity. The Golan Hts..who carfes? More or less settlements..just apt houses. Israels media..if naive and gullible, believing there can be peace with enemies..has nothing to do with Hashem..just a concept of Zionism (the Israeli state). 9m Jews in WW2 were religious/traditional..and perished, caus they had no land to defend, and were dependent onothers for protection. They prayed in the camps..to avail. It took goyim to kill them and rescue them. Their religion failed them miserably, like it or not. Hashem wasn't interested at the time. What makes us different is what keeps us together...( US Jews are accepted and thus diminishing).
6. To #1
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.24.10)
What, exactly, great and special "favors" has God done for Jews through the millenia, that He/She hasn't done for everybody else at some point? You sound no different than the people whom you decry for who knows what reason. Maybe, just maybe, neither Jews, Christians, Muslims, nor anyone else will ever find true peace and get along until it dawns on all of us that we should stop killing. cursing, and disparaging each other in the name of God , but use the brains we were given and accept the fact that we're all responsible for the consequences of our own choices and their impact on others instead of on God. I cannot imagine God being such an egomaniac and so pathetically needy as to feed off and demand prayers and rituals, or cares who does what on which day of the week. I'm sorry, but that sounds just a little too much like some petty despot and not like my God, at all.
7.  Only the religious Jews will be left
HG ,   Israel   (09.24.10)
In the Galut, the secular Jews are disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage. In Israel, they are barely getting married or having babies. Soon the majority of the world's Jews will be religious.
8. Paul, you're paranoid
Sam ,   Ottawa, Canada   (09.24.10)
And the stats show the Jewish Israeli population is moderate
9. nice comments here... esp 3 & 4

Joe ,   Toronto Canada   (09.25.10)
Good liuck convincing the orthodox...As such this Conservative Jew (and his family) will never directly give to the State of Israel until the control of religous doctrine is open to all.
11. FAITH AND PRAYER
zichron   (09.26.10)
Even FREUND BELIEVED IN THE VALUE OF FAITH FOR TIKUM OLAM FOR SOME OF HUMANITY . THE MILITANT ATHEISTS MUST RETREAT BUT CAN ADVOCATE HUMANISTIC FILLED FAITH.
12. #10-Poor excuse!
Meir ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.26.10)
You can make contributions to specific Israeli organizations whose mission you support. Are you at least doing that?
13. 'so pathetically needy to feed off and demand prayers etc.'
Avraham Zhurba ,   Toronto   (08.29.11)
This phrase is almost verbatim from Talmud. Talmud also point it out that it is pathetic to think that G-d needs our prayers and rituals. Talmud answers: He gave as them for our sake. One of the explanation is that when a father does not need/want from his children anything it is pretty tragic for the children themselves. He made for us means to do something for Him, to create a connection otherwise impossible. Judaism has very deep philosophy explaining the meaning of things that seem strange and contradicting on the surface, especially since Chasidic philosophy became revealed.
