1. pogroms, have you forgotten?
rafael   (09.13.10)
the settlers are allowed to build on disputed land, but the Bedouins are not? Why are they not allowed to have villages? How short memories are, even selective Jewish memories...
2. Sinai is biger than Negev .
Trumpeldor   (09.13.10)
3. wow bedouin breaking the law.
ghostq   (09.13.10)
and on public land. oh and that MK should be send to jail for incorage people to break the law. after all these people didn't bought the land. they don't even pay taxes, and were very nomads not long ago.
4. BedouinS HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BUILD ANYWHERE THEY WANT IN !
Ehud ,   Isratine   (09.13.10)
5. Not the whole story
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (09.13.10)
That there is a pending case in the courts in which the residents of Al Akrib are showing Ottoman and British era documents showing "communal" ownership of the land and that the residents were evicted by the army in 1951 and promised they could return. Obviously nothing happened so they returned in 1970s. But apparently when Bedouin (who serve in IDF) have documents from before the foundation of the state they are not good enough whereas a bunch of religious fanatics show them for buildings in East Jerusalem they can move there, armed and protected by the police and provoke the entire world against us. This is racism, a pogrom and a terrible double-standard. It can't be that one rule is good for some and not relevant for others. So much for people of the book. If anything the whole DST affair shows we are the people of cutting corners.
6. Yes/No situations are ridiculous!
Noa ,   Beer Sheva   (09.13.10)
Of course it is illegal to build anywhere you want, and it is also potentially dangerous (safety rules). But we have so many potiticians. We pay their salaries. One of them has to sit on his tussik and find a comprehensive solution for all of us, including our Bedouin next door neighbors. We are all in here together!
7. the bedouin have to obey the law they cant build anywhere
zionist forever   (09.13.10)
This is state land it doesn't belong to the bedouin and many even refuse to pay rent on some kind of moral grounds. The government spends millions trying to solve the bedouin problem by building towns for them but they are not interested. The bedouin want to decide where they live if thats in a village illegally in the Negev then they see that as their right. Its ta modern day version of bedouin culture. In the old days they would stay somewhere and when they got bored they packed up the camel and move on and they believe the desert is theirs. Today the bedouin believe the Negev belong to them. The decision to raze this village is based on a court judgement. The bedouin cannot be allowed to overrule the court just because they don't like the result. We also have a problem with these do gooders whose emotions and belief in whats the little guy thinks is fair so they are willing to help the bedouin break the law and rebuild. This village would not have been rebuilt so many times if it hadn't been from support from the do gooders.
8. Re#5 Go cry me a river.
Bartley Kulp ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.13.10)
Number one; The Beduin did not register their land with the Ottoman authorities because that would mean that they would have to pay taxes on land that was not that valuable. Number two; Any deals that the British would have made with them would be irrelevant considering that they were practically at war with Israel in 1948. They enforced an arms blockade during the war. They prohibited refugees from immigrating. They supplied both weapons and intelligence information to the enemy. To hell with the crown! Number three. The beduine that Israel expelled in 1951 were those that fled in 1948 and then snuck back in. If they need a place to live and they are broke, they can apply for government assistance in programs that already exist which they refuse to participate in. If it is a matter of preserving their way of life, that is none of our business or priority.
9. Barbaric solution unbefitting of a democracy
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (09.13.10)
1- The bedouin (who do serve in the army) have been living in these area since before the country was established. The government should be sincere about finding a just solution and not act in such a barbaric fashion 2- We all know, had they been jews, building illegally, the government would have not only not demolished the houses, but also supplied water and electricity.
10. Village or Settlements?
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.13.10)
It is so racistly biased. Jews who built and live on their land in Jewish communities are termed, "settlers" and their towns called "settlements". In stark contrast to this, (migrant Bedouins who are only in Israel because 'A' they happened to be on the Israeli side of the border in the time of the re-birth of Israel or 'B' they were settled in the land of Israel during the Occupation of one of the occupying forces between 1948-1967.) Bedouin settlers and their settlements are simply labeled Bedouins and 'towns' respectively. What do my fellow good citizens of Israel feel about this?
11. number 5
ester ,   australia   (09.13.10)

12. ''Settlers'' buy there land in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem.
But bedouins park ,   wherever they like.   (09.13.10)
