1. huh? you mean we're NOT ??
oferdesade ,   israel   (09.15.10)
come on, now. after centuries of having to buy our way out of pogroms & death camps, can anyone actually assert that we're not preoccupied more than others by cost and income? let's stake restaurants, for starters (and the cuisine here is now one of the best I've experienced). in europe it's something to hand down from one generation to the next. in israel its maka gdola ve-maher. our hi-tek is so great for what? religious reasons? jews everywhere are succesful coz of genes? isnt that just as racist? be greedy and be proud of it. we r wot the world made us!!
2. But it's true...
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (09.15.10)
I am Israeli and I care more about money than peace with Arabs.
3. OF COURSE we care about money more!
John ,   Europe   (09.15.10)
We have been persecuted and expelled from almost any county existing on Earth! Money was our only security - in times, there were many situations where we couldn't count even on our own! So of course we are preoccupied with money and not with peace with Arabs! After Arabs there will be somebody else, Chinese, Kirgistans, Khurdes whoever... Didn't anybody get the small, but significant detail about our legends of Olam HaBa and Massiah? IT IS A TIME WHEN WE WILL FINALLY BE AT PEACE AND REST! Hence - until Olam haBa and Massiah, we will not be in peace and rest! :) Therefore, give us money. :)
4. I KNOW THAT MONEY IS THE ANSWER
Joel ,   Israel   (09.15.10)
Money will end all my missery, pain and suffering. I know that with money i can build a family of my own, purchase a home for them. With money i can send my family to discover their hidden talents by challenging their skills and esposing them to various experiences. With money i can rehabilitate my teeth, purchase orthopedic shoes, receive needed medical assitance and treatment, with money i can buy a modest car, with money i can purchase modest clothing for all seasons, with money i can help others, with money i can help stop animal abuse, with money you readers would respect me and not step on me just because i am an IDF disabled soldier with no protection or connections with influencial people that would see to it that i was cared for and not neglected. Money is what buys people their freedom in Israel and most places in the world. Money is what fuels terror and wars. I can pray all i want and did, all i received was a few mitsvot in the next life. The lack of money is the root of all evil. And i did more to help myself than most ever did and do, so please don't label me a money monger just because i am Jewish. The last time i checked money is all Clerics, doctors, lawyers, contractors etc want. Lets see you pay the electric bill or purchase healthy food with a prayer or smile, money is what gets you somewhere. Zionism is based on money as is democracy.
5. ''predicated on'' arrgghh
bob ,   NZ   (09.15.10)
Are you sure the ADL actually said ''predicated on'' rather than ''based on''? ''predicated on'' sounds like a Ynet writer to me-- ''based' on'' is perfectly adequate in this case . As Churchill said: ''in writing English, the simple words are the best ones''.
6. The difference between Jewish and Arab prtotest
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (09.15.10)
When Jews want to protest over their portrayal in a bad light, they express this protest by means of providing elaborate explanations why the accusations were wrong, backed with sufficient evidence, and sending polite letters asking for an apology. At most, they would sue. When Arabs want to protest over their portrayal in a bad light, they go out and run amok in the streets, break into and loot stores, light fire in cars, desecrate synagogues, beat people up and threaten with terror attacks.... And basically prove all of the accusations right. Small difference...
7. From the circulating numbers, it looks like a lot of people
Rivkah   (09.15.10)
are already boycotting TIME for anti-semitism and other reasons. That cover of flowers shaped in a Star of David saying Israel does not want peace was offensive and an apology is necessary from TIME for that. Tiny little Israel is not the nation hindering peace. It is the Muslims who don't want Israel to exist that are hindering peace. It is the Muslims who do not give to the Jews the land Yahweh promised the Jews who are hindering peace. It is the Muslims who won't get out of Jerusalem who are hindering peace when they know the Lord gave Jerusalem to the Jews forever, not to the Muslims or the Christians.
8. To Joel
Panda Bear ,   Omaha, Nebraska USA   (09.15.10)
Your thoughts on the subject matter are well spoken. I do hope, however, that you are not being mistreated and that your financial troubles are not as bad as they sound in your comments. I hope, too, that you realize that you are not dead yet, so G-d can still bless you in this life. I will pray that G-d does. I do hope, also, that the Israeli government does not just discard their disabled soldiers and tell them they must now fend for themselves. This would be appalling. The government should be taking care of their soldiers, disabled or not. But G-d is still G-d and can deliver on your needs. Of this I am certain. He can also tell you why you are suffering a certain suffering if you seek Him in the manner of King David. But even with millions or billions of dollars in the bank, you can still suffer. And suffering comes both to the just and the unjust. And good does come out of suffering. It took over ten years for me to see some of the good that came out of a suffering I experienced via an assault, and still good is coming from that assault. Granted my physical and mental health still suffer from that assault, but in the end the good that came from the assault far out weighs the suffering I have experienced. So until you actually physically pass away, I expect G-d to bless you in this life at some point in time and for good to come out of your suffering, if it hasn't already. G-d delivered me out of the hands of the one who assaulted me when I called out to Him for help, so why should G-d not help you and bless you as well (and not just in the after life).
9. Time Magazine
Sharon ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.15.10)
I cancelled my subscription. I was finally fed up with the incendiary depiction.Perhaps this proves my concern with my dollars which will no longer find their way intoTime's bank account.
10. Jewish thought control
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.15.10)
...we can only praise, worship, and feel sorry for Jews, we cannot tell the truth or criticize Jews.
11. Financial fraud as well
(09.15.10)
Do they mention the amount of financial fraud orchestrated in the State of Israel and exported around the world. For only a population of 14 million or so, Jewish people miraculously make up a significant portion of financial fraud. Maybe the ADL should turn inside and tell their membership that they're the problem, and maybe then the media will drop this.
12. Yeah right Steve, you bash Jews all days long here.
Yallah Yallah ,   Eurabia   (09.15.10)
On a Jewish site! Lucky for you that you have such nice hosts, Try doing the same on your Arab sites... Either way, the point is that Time mag, facing declining readership has embarked on blatant Jew-bashing as way to revive their diminishinig fortunes...
13. Time Magazine
Harvey Florida ,   Florida USA   (09.15.10)
Don't worry, nobody reads Time Magazine anymore
14. Israel has wanted Peace from the beginning.
noa ,   israel   (09.15.10)
But if the surrounding Arabs don't want it, well, then, we will move on. If that includes making money, developing ourselves, well, then so be it. Is that so bad?
15. There is much truth in what you write, Panda
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (09.15.10)
Bear. It's good that you remind Readers of the spiritual path that we are all taking as well as the earthly one. In times of trouble, of course, what you say can help relieve our suffering but it can also aggravate it as well. But, as you note, no suffering, no growth nor spiritual development. Sometimes, however, the suffering is just too overwhelming.
16. The problem is...
al-kafir al-yahudi ,   usa   (09.15.10)
...that criticism is NEVER leveled against the other parties in this conflict. Once again, blame is placed solely on the Jews, and we are sick of it. Maybe it's because if any form of media dares criticize anything islamic, people end up dying. The fact that the Jews can be slandered and mistreated without any riots or deaths should be something your biased head considers.
17. 2 points
Phil ,   USA   (09.15.10)
1. It is amazing how many of these haters are obsessed with reading Israeli/Jewish sites and making antisemitic and hateful comments. 2. I cancelled my subscription to Time and I hope that all people of good-will do the same.
18. Panda Bear, Omaha Neb. Thank you :>))
Joel ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
Share with me be it you choose to your story of being attacked and building your life again.
19. Let the bigot edit Time from Sderot
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ USA   (09.16.10)
It is becoming very scary for Jews in the US. Right now, the so-called liberal progressives have declared war on Israel and continue to flame the passions of hate. American elite liberal universities have allowed unspeakable behavior against Jews and the US justice dept. refuses to prosecute these hate crimes. Their reason for doing so is obviously because they agree with the attackers of Jews. Libersal newspapers have long been unyielding and biased critics against Israel. However, this is the first time that a major news magazine has crossed over to antisemitism in criticizing Israel. Imagine, Israel has been the victim of hundreds of acts of terrorism, has had thousands of rockets aimed at its Negev communities and is threatened with nuclear annihilation by Iran and Time says that Israelis don't want peace. I always knew that the far left and the far right were viciously antisemitic. Now it is evident that those who deny that they are extremists and call themselves progressives are also engaging in the oldest hatred. Any Jew or friend of Jews must show their determination against these libels by canc elling subscriptions and withdrawing advirtising.
20. Robert Haymond
Panda Bear ,   Omaha, Nebraska   (09.16.10)
Thank you for your comments. And I agree that suffering can be overwhelming at times. But I was referring to good as being more than spiritual good in my comments. I probably should have made that more clear. Though much spiritual good came to me as well, physical good that made this world a better place or more specifically in my state, also came from my assault. I was able to use my experience to convince my state legislator, for example, to get certain state funds for the improvement of mental health systems in my state, a hospital was able to be run better, and other like things came about because of my assault. I will not give all the details as it would take too long, and some of the benefits involve other peoples privacy, but this is the type of good that I was referring to, not just spiritual growth and development. Though that is also good that comes from suffering and sometimes that can be enough good. And I have also been to the point where the suffering was just too overwhelming and I cried out to G-d and I felt that I was abandoned. But when you think about it, where would G-d go that He could abandon you? So obviously He was there and the problem was with me. I had forgotten who G-d was for a time and let the suffering overwhelm me. That is why one should go to the Psalms and read them to remind oneself who G-d is. Because of the way our brains are wired and how our body works, when we go through great sufferings that appear to be overwhelming, our minds will tend to forget who G-d is and we have to be reminded and/or have our brains re-wired so-to-speak. Getting past those times of suffering where it appears to be overwhelming and just too much is not an easy task, but it can be done. One needs to hold on to the fact that G-d does not let one suffer more than one is capable of handling. Most of my life has been nothing but one type of suffering after another so I don't speak lightly about this subject. And as far as the subject of this article goes, it is nonsense that the Jews of Israel to not want peace. Every sane person wants peace. Peace brings prosperity and more money to a region as well, so even if everyone loved money, then the best way to get more of it would be to have peace in the region so prosperity could come to the region and thus more money.
21. Joel and your Thank You message
Panda Bear ,   Omaha, Nebraska USA   (09.16.10)
I'm sorry Joel I don't quite understand your English as you have written it what you are saying to me so I can't reply. I don't know what "choose to your story" means or rather what you are trying to say. My story is too long to share, nor do I know if I am ready to share the whole story with the world either. I just shared what I did as I could not bear to think of you hurting so and thinking that G-d would not help you more than you have stated. G-d's blessings are new every morning and He desires good for you, for me and for all his creation. He wants to bless you now in this life, physically and spiritually. Don't settle for less. Please. G-d does deliver on His promises.

27. Telling Truth Isn't Anti-Semitic
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.16.10)
And the Time article never said that Jews love money more than peace. It's just that the crybabies and whiners looked at couple of pictures and jumped to conclusions. Those same crybabies and whiners are always looking for a reason to start nashing their teeth and moaning about "how the whole world hates Jews". Same old lame excuse used everytime Israel commits a heinous act to the Palestinian people, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and the rest of Israel's imaginary oppressors. Give it a rest. You've cried wolf one too many times.
28. doesn't matter if it is true or not...
Potash Katiftof ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.16.10)
