1. Now the high court bashers can throw their
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
hate . But they did'nt comment negatively on the high court's decision to oblige this secular mother to give a religious education to her son . So don't send us your hatefull comments now , it would be only hypocrisy from you . But you see , not only rights for you , for sane Israelis too . This decision was a victory for our democratric country .
2. Funds should go on curing their sickness
David ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
Yes, the authorities should not ignore this community. Before they feel the wrath of Hashem for their perverted behaviour, they should be given the chance to find an effective cure.
3. great ruling by the ct. gays have equal rights with all ppl.
debra ,   usa   (09.14.10)
4. II know the JRSLM and TA open houses do alot of good work
gay dad   (09.14.10)
alot of kids are still thrown out of their homes when their parents find out they are gay or lesbian. The gay community has come a long way to be very supportive today.
5. David, am I allowed to call in gay to work?
gay israeli   (09.14.10)
If I have a sickness that needs curing, I want the government to support me living at home at the level of income I have become accustomed to until a cure for my "horrible" gayness is found. Is that how it will be in your halachik state? then I am in!
6. To # Charles
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (09.14.10)
Shame on the Supreme Court and on you Charles! Democracy is the system where the rules are decided by the majority of the population and not but elitist, atheist judges! Take your dictionary and learn!
7. State is discriminating against extremist community...
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (09.14.10)
High court should order immediate transfer of funds to extremist and fundamentalist organisations. Extremists are people too, who deserve equal human rights as moderates. We should distribute stickers "ani kitzoni gee", and organize a state funded extremist pride parade, where no extremist or fundamentalist would be discriminated, left, right, religious or atheist. There is no scientific proof extremism is wrong, and who are we to judge.
8. Ha ha ha, what a paradox
Al Mujahid   (09.14.10)
You want to be recognized as a Jewish state, but you let gays promote themselves legally and publicly? Is it possible that some time in future there is a legislation that requires that a certain percentage of your leaders and your MKs must be gays? Wake up Jews! The more you adopt Western values, the more confusing your life will be.
9. Excellent news!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
10. #2 You're the sick one around here
Talula ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
You're probably an in-the-closet gay man.
11. #2 Funds should go on curing the mental illness of religion
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (09.14.10)
Come on. Grown men and women believing in fairy tales? Something is not right in their heads they are obviously very sick, they should try to find a cure immediately. Jerusalem is overrun by people that belong in a closed mental institution for the insane.
12. #5 Excellent response! : )
Talula ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
13. So happy for the children w/the brightly colored clothes!
Hetero granny! ,   Jerusalem   (09.14.10)
Way to go kids! Mazal Tov! Spend it wisely! :)
14. Al Mujahid, there is no paradox
gay Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.14.10)
Many Jews believe Jewish social values are acceptance of those who are different than you. If God has a problem with gays, he will deal with us. It is not for humans to do Gods work. Do you really see men attracted to men as a “Western import”? What about all the Arab Muslim gays -and there are lots of them.
15. It's really a shame that a mental illness is being
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (09.14.10)
treated as a reputable lifestyle. I'm sympathetic to GLBT's who can't form normal heterosexual relationships, but I don't like their abuse of people who don't buy the notion that what they do is fine and normal and worthy of "pride". This is a sad ruling for Israel unless the money goes to dealing with their problem as a problem, not a way of life.
16. gays
Thinkagain ,   jerusalem   (09.14.10)
Gays are mostly fine, pleasant, friendly, and artistic oriented people.i have sympathy for those people, and in the same time i think that being gay is a deviation ,caused by parents who did not appreciate the sensivety of their child. Now,no parent(even the tolerant one) is overhappy when they discover that it is THEIR child who is gay, because, they want THEIR children to have normal families:grandchildren, with a father ,and a mother .The state by recognising the gays as a normal group, gives a false message to our youth. Some young people could think, why not try that kind of experience for the fun,and than adopt this lifestyle. Are we ready to take such a risico for our precious children? I do not want to hurt the gay society, but i have to think first of my children.
17. Government should not fund everything
Golan ,   Modiin   (09.14.10)
the public trough is not there to subsides and pay for every hiccup. Some things need to be privately funded and the government needs to stop making it so hard for organizations to do things for themselves. About 100% of the money raised in Israel pays for an organization's bureaucratic sandtrap called the Israeli government. And the people are tiered of having to pay the bill for every gay, anti-gay, organization and its grieving mother. ITS NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB!!!!!
18. WOW!!!! there's some real ignorance here!!
Talula ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
No wonder Gays and Lesbians have to march every year. The thick idiots in this talkback should learn more about gays and lesbians before judging and talking out their behinds. If they read proper books about what it is to be gay instead of the dribble the bible spews out, they'd be so much smarter for it.
19. High Court ruling deliberately against Torah.
Shalom   (09.14.10)
And then they wonder why Rabbi Yosef declared that judges may not be counted in a minyan.
20. Do we need an Arab (#8) to remind us
Shalom   (09.14.10)
that this is a Jewish country that have Torah laws that MUST be followed EVEN by the judges of the so-called supreme court (LOL!)? And then they wonder why Arabs don't want to recognize Israel as Jewish. Shame on the so-called supreme court!!! The judges are NOT above Torah law. If they have no respect for the Torah, how can they expect Jews to respect them?
21. Fine take the money from the courts
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.14.10)
They order funding but aren't the ones that are either elected or have to write the budget. Get the entire payroll from the court system and take a percentage from each judge to fund this.
22. Now u get 120.000 simply for being Gay
Rehavam ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
ze meshtalem!
23. Rainbow colors reminding us of The Flood is very appropriate
Shalom   (09.14.10)
as immorality was one of the prime causes of The Flood at the time of Noah.
24. Ricardo , you should be ashamed
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
for supporting the same policy as the murderers of our people some 70 years ago . Democracy also means rights for minorities , in this case the Gay community . You did'nt say "shame on the Supreme court" when they obliged a secular woman to give her son a religious education ! Hypocrites who want only rights for themselve .
25. Move Transgendered to live next door to these "Judges"
shmuel ,   London   (09.14.10)
For every dingbat leftist judge, a cross-dressing neighbor!!
26. To 16 , Thinkagain
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
Those gays who live a long homosexual relationship are not those who "tried" this way . For them it's not a "deviation" as you call it , but they were born so . They maybe tried a heterosexual relationship , but it was'nt "it" , they were attracted to the same gender . I knew such a woman in my birthtown , married and divorced twice , now already has a girlfriend for more than 15 years , and has given birth to a boy some years ago . And his happy ! Now , that parents prefer a "normal" life for their children , i can agree . But i will never accept that parents reject a child , or grandchild because of his/her sexual preferences [ nor for his/her religiosity or secularism ]
27. No fund for the Gay community ? fine for me , if
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
they also stop funding the yeshivot , talmude torah , and so . A deal ?
28. Shalom , 19 , also when they obliged this
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
secular woman to send her son to a religious school ? Also against Torah ?
29. #2 David, Israel-Sickness
Daniel ,   TA   (09.14.10)
According to ALL recognized medical and psychological journals and authorities, homosexuality is NOT an illness, or a choice. It is a normal state of being for a portion of any given population, in both humans and animals. In fact the last time being gay was an illness, electroshock therapy was considered a good treatment for schizophrenia and lobotomies were standard practice. Only people who pick and choose what parts of Torah to follow and have a bigoted personality presume that being gay is essentially wrong. Any enlightened member of society would understand that it is just different but normal, like being born with blue eyes.
30. Karl#24
avi ,   nyc   (09.14.10)
Karl, you are wrong and Ricardo is correct. Democracy does not mean rights for minorities. Limited or "liberal" democracy weakens majority rule to give minority rights, but in so doing you no longer follow the definition of democracy.
