1. The rabbi said WHAT???
Rick ,   Ramat Gan   (09.14.10)
"If you visit my grave you will get favoritism in heaven?!!" And this is a man that literally is idolized? I am appalled.
2. Ynet really hates religion!!!
Jacob ,   New York   (09.14.10)
30,000 people were in Uman for Rosh Hashanah & Ynet has to write an article on the 100 or so bad apples there & make it seem like everyone is like that!!!! I was there & didn't see ONE thing that this article spoke about!!!!!! absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!
3. Heheh , Hasidic Bangkok ;) ,...
split ,   USA   (09.14.10)
4. its these traditions which make hasidism
Golan ,   modiin   (09.14.10)
pagan.
5. Time to move the grave!
David G   (09.14.10)
These types of services are just another reason why the body of Rabbi Nachman needs to be moved to Israel. Sure the people of Uman will protest, but bribe the right Ukrainian officials and it will get done. Move it to a development town like Sderot and see all that revenue flow back to Israel instead of Ukraine I am sure given the choice the Rabbi would rather have his body moved to Israel then the current situation.
6. Question
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (09.14.10)
Why does Akiva hate so much Breslev? Why is he trying so hard to create a bad image? Never mind, you will find filth anywhere if you look hard enough, or you can just say things with no proof. We believe in HaShem and we study Rabbi Nachman's writings very hard, maybe that's what bothers Akiva!
7. Shocking if true , but take it with pinch of salt
Esther ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
this article has certainly not been written by one who went to pray but was looking for the dirt , you dig for dirt you get dirt , its not fair to say all secular Israeli who go to India go there to smoke pot or become cheap drug peddlers likewise not all Breslevers are like what this article points out . He wrote to sell , it sold but is everybody really buying this ?
8. so 30,000 came for hookers? or 100?
Moshe ,   Uman   (09.14.10)
So 30'000 Jews came looking for hookers in Uman? or 100?.
9. Ricardo , you were there too ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
drunk and surrounded by nice girls ? it would fit your hypocrisy very well : religious outside but inside .....?
10. Esther # 7 . I'm sure
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.14.10)
that this story is true , but only about a minority , or even people who have only gone there to have fun , not to pray . Don't forget : when the wine is in the man , the wisdom is in the can [ tradduction of a saying ]
11. To#10 Kol Hakavod Charles
thinkagain ,   jerusalem   (09.14.10)
12. WHAT ON EARTH?
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.14.10)
Does ynet expect breslov hasidim to be saints ?/ leave them alone and stop judging .So what if they drink alcohol and get laid ?
13. Uman one of the most spiritual experiences
Yoni ,   Tel Aviv   (09.14.10)
I love Israel but I went to Uman for a spiritual boost and it was one of the most uplifting experiences I have had. If you stay within the area of the kever there is nothing other than tens of thousands of Jews praying and introspecting around one of the most intense days of the year. There is nothing there aside for a few Ukranian vendors selling there wares on the outer perimeter of the area near the kever Everyone should look for spiritual boosts but if you look for bad things you will find it anywhere you go
14. # 10 " THE WISDOM IN THE CAN "
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.14.10)
But the wisdom bypassed you...
15. #2: Yeah, shoot the messenger!!
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (09.14.10)
16. To # 9 Charles
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (09.14.10)
Dear Charles, unluckily I couldn't do it this year and with HaShem's help I will be there next year. Regarding your doubts about my moral, be informed that I don't care about your doubts, I live my life the best way I can, I try to fulfill as many "mitzvot" as possible and if sometimes I am weak, I study harder in order to get over it.
17. Breslov: Indeed Fanatical Idolism
iObserver and News ,   US-Israel   (09.15.10)
The Chassidic Dynasties born out of the humble beginnings of the Bel Shem Tov, decayed rapidly as rabbis vied for power after his death. Nothing more, nothing less. Just as it is today, with ugly battles between brothers and shunning. Only a few remaining Chassidic movements, like the Chabad movement, has been left with no Rebbe to lead them. But Chabad went as far as saying the Rebbe was Moshiach. The GORGEOUS beginnings of Chasidisim fell victim to human weakness, arrogance and greed. The Baal Shem Tov was the only true Rebbe yet even he would not have wanted to be venerated to such a crazy degree. Breslovers, Zebra, Netura Karta, Satmir (who run the whore houses in NYC) and some others, hardly have a fleck of Jewishness in their minhoggim...they're divisive cults that spread hate, intolerance and repression (especially of their wives). It would be nice if there were fewer of them and they all stayed home. The world would be a better place. That is, aside from the handful of beautiful ones, which are hard to find. Very sad indeed. We Jews, always divided and always ripe with our trouble makers, whether secular or religious. Soooo very sad. It is indeed a miracle from Hashem that we still exist. ONLY a miracle.
18. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE!!
uri ,   il   (09.15.10)
,,,,just got back from UMAN....I did not see any of what the writer is talking about. I did see alot of brotherly love, intense prayer and unbridled joy. Sorry, YNET.
19. Discusting behavior from the charideem
Avi ,   Israel   (09.15.10)
what should we expect from a bunch of idol worshipers. these people bring disrespect upon jewdism.
20. and those who strictly go pilgrimage to Rabbi's gravesite
observer   (09.15.10)
are obviously worshiping idols: “You shall have no other gods before me.”, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God", “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God" ... The First Three of the Ten Commandments!
21. Insightment
Sam ,   Nanuet , USA   (09.15.10)
Had Ynet written an article disparaging Arabs or Islam they would have been prosecuted for inciting hatred. Obviously secular elitist Israelis think that Chassidim are fair game. The left will not permanently dominate the media, and just remember payback is sweet.
22. Move rebbe"s grave to Sderot
DZ ,   Canada   (09.15.10)
David G., yours is a most brilliant suggestion. Imagine the tourism it would bring to a depressed town like Sderot!
23. Jew man come to uman
ukraine woman ,   ukraine   (09.15.10)
I give you best mitzvot ever on top of rabbe grave.
24. when you get between 25 to 50,000 people
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (09.15.10)
Tell me, when you get such a large number of people, it seems to me that there would be a few bad apples. But how many bad ones were there compared to the large majority of decent and proper people? Very few... When there is a rock concert, how many drunks, sex incidents and drug takers are there? I think many more!
25. To , 11 . Dear Thinkagain
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.15.10)
Thanks . I think that in every group or community there are bad apples . Not all Shas people are in jail , only some were not honest . Not all the charidim are hatefull , there are nice people amongst them . You know already that i'm trying to stay objective . If my memory is OK , somewhere in the Torah "G-d " said to Moshe to go and talk to every people in his own tongue . I'm not Moshe [ i'm living ! ] but i try to do it here too . To hatefull people i answer in the same way , they deserve it . To You and other , as This Esther , i weill talk in another way . I'll be in Yeroushalaim today , meet a very Orthodox friend , and try to find some books .
26. 16 Ricardo
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.15.10)
I'm talking about your hypoocrisy , condemning the Supreme court for being anti Torah , in one case , But not remembering their judgement in another one .
27. 12 , the stupid barks again !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.15.10)
"...what if they drink and get laid ..." Nothing else could be expected from this "rapper"
28. Pagans
Matt ,   UK   (09.15.10)
Pagans are also good people. Good tourists, anyhow.
29. Freudian slip in the article?
R ,   Israel   (09.15.10)
1) It must be weird for the children of the men who are not at home throughout the holiday. 2) "...Bedside, those bent on finding promiscuity will find it."
30. Yep! Welcome to the year 2010!
Talula ,   Israel   (09.15.10)
