As much as I enjoy watching the sweaty players run down the courts, after this news I will never be able to look at them the same way again. They should be fined for this unconscionable act.

Nothing is certain. However, Judaism will likely never have as many believers as Christianity or Islam. But quite a few millions of good people could be attracted to Judaism if Jews acted with more pride and self respect. Like we did before the Oslo Disaster and our embrace of the sick policy of appeasement. Strength and self respect are attractive. Appeasement and weakness aren't. There are many millions of people, with distant Jewish roots, who may be willing to take another look at Judaism. Including some Arabs.

Unlike some, we (Jews) exist simply to be Jews, as we have for 1000s of years. We do not exist to destroy someone else, or to force someone else to adopt our way of life, or to humiliate someone else. And that's a positive thing. ;-) Living to oppose someone else is such a shallow, stupid, pointless way to live, and G-d surely did not create us for that. If some of these celebrated players are interested in Jews and Judaism, and if - which is clearly the case - they are acting as *very* positive role models in the sense that they are publicly welcoming Jews and publicly showing an interest in Jews and Judaism, then that's fantastic. It DOES help to counteract the recently growing tendency on the left to demonize Jews under the cover of demonizing "Zionists," and it DOES serve to warm relationships between Jews and other groups within society. This is fundamentally a positive, joyful, life-affirming and healthy thing rather than being "against" anyone. That's also the "inside" spirit of Israel, under the thorny exterior. You may well be right about Madonna. In a time in which there is a lot of darkness, her strong friendship toward the Jewish people has been a spark of light.

to imagine that one's celebrity status, or athletic ability somehow lends extra weight to his religious (or political, for that matter)convictions is, well, absurd.

Jews are scattered across the entire globe. So, it is not surprising that jews can be found in all countries and cultures today. Jews come in different shapes, sizes and shades. Its a beautiful thing. Go Knicks Go.!
