1. Pathetic and childish
Nour ,   One-State الدولة   (09.15.10)
Typical of contemporary Egyptian culture.
2. CAUGHT AGAIN
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.15.10)
Another bust of Arab press manipulation. Used among the Pallywood crowd for over a decade, the success so profound, that it has been copied by most Muslim media. So during the 2006 Lebanon War the photo fraud was rampant, and always in a way to create the illusion that vilified Israel. So now it has become Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). So all stories are lied about to De-Legitimize Israel. The May flotilla incident was a classic example, but an abundance of video from multiple sources quickly revealed the lies told by the terrorists posing as passengers. The the recent border skirmish, this time with Arab photographers on the scene for the staged event, but again competing photos from Israel and the UN force UNIFIL, proved again, what a lie the Lebanese press was trying to promote. That Israel started it (they did not). Now we have this rather childish photo-shopped picture. Just to boost the ego of the Arab world. That their man, Hosni Mubarak, was leading the procession, walking in front of the U.S. President. Then somehow people wonder why when information is Arab sourced, or Muslim sourced, that the credibility is questioned? How many times do you have to catch people lying? Even here on the talkback boards anti-Israel writers make all kinds of outlandish claims, without sourcing their information. They know, because their claims came from Arab sources, they won't be accepted, proof positive, how unreliable they are. The anti-Israel writers are too embarrassed to cite these sources. What more can I say!!
3. Everything is fake
Nour, One State ,   in the Hejaz   (09.16.10)
We fake everything possible, fake photos, fake "leaders", fake glory, fake dignity, fake news, fake economies, fake democracy, fake human rights, fake freedom to convert, fake countries on land stolen from unfortunate infidels, fake Golden Age, fake religion, fake science, fake culture, and most recently we invented a new fake nation.
4. digital journalism credibility
observer   (09.16.10)
The photo was published on Al-Ahram (on line) digital journal which, as the Ynet, is subjected to the following Comment & Criticism: 1) An artifact (newspaper, magazine, book) that you can hold in your hand will always be more credible than ever-changing pixels. 2) Online news is not as credible for several reasons: it’s a new medium, stories can be hacked by outsiders, and God only knows who’s running some of them. Consumers’ fear of the unknown hurts their credibility. 3) The credibility of online news is more unstable because there is more chance for error. It could come from being rushed to be the first with the story, or it could come from laziness in knowing that if the information is wrong, it can be removed with little effort. Newspapers have higher standards in terms of accuracy, sourcing, completeness, balance and fairness. Online news sources are more concerned with getting the news posted as quickly as possible; they have fewer or less-experienced staff, and they don’t have standards that are as stringent. Why didn't the Israelis sue Al-Ahram at whatever a press watch organization for putting Mubarak in more influential position than Netanyahu? or was that in the peace treaty? Simply because it was not on a "hard" newspaper.
5. nour, you got the religion one spot on.
don't forget fake ,   caring...   (09.16.10)
6. #1 - Nour - Not just Egyptian society. All Arabs.
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
Don't remember the major photoshop doctoring going on by Arabs in Lebanon war? Hamas came out with a nice new video that is steeped in fantasy. What the Arab world did before Photoshop and video editing software is beyond me. They are masters as revisionism and fabricated story lines. ...and I thought Westerns who are glued to Reality shows were lost in fantasy.
7. #4 - You, like the story, are insignificant
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
Israel doesn't care where Al-Ahram places Mubarak. In the Arab world, where male hubris reigns supreme, this may be a big deal and result in all types of commentary and useless jabs at each other. In Israel, we'd prefer to save our energy for important matters. Speaking of pixel integrity - it was Al-Husseini who issued a doctored photo of Al-Aqsa mosque in 1920 showing it on fire and accusing Jews of trying to destroy it in order to start an uprising among Arabs. It worked, many Jews were massacred and many more driven from their homes. It seems that even before the ubiquitous pixel came on the scene, Arabs were doctoring events and photos to cause mayhem.
8. Egypt newspaper doctors White House photo
south florida ,   USA   (09.16.10)
how stupid and naive can Egyptian press be to photoshop a White House picture of this magnitude?? Oh, I forgot, the press in Egypt is controlled by a dictator....Mubarek. Would you be surprised to hear the literacy rate there is only 71% (59% for women and 80% for men) ???
