Nora Tel Aviv   (09.16.10)
Such an excellent idea. Worth the Ahmadinejad price for durable peace.
32. Hamas take over of the west bank
Peace Lover ,   UK   (09.16.10)
Do you really want hamas with all its arsenal to start to fire at the settlments within the west bank. Please think of th egeographical difference between Gaza and the west bank before you spread this dangerous idea. the rockets from west bank cities can potentially reach Tel AVIV . Please wake up before it is too late.
33. Ridiculous
newyorker ,   brooklyn, USA   (09.16.10)
The most childish analysis - the worst piece of journalism I've read in a long while. The whole article reflects arrogance and all the things that make Israel look bad to the rest of the world.
34. very bad idea
moti ,   usa   (09.16.10)
rocket will handicap ben gurion, terror will come upon tel aviv, economy will go down, and any future developments like "light rail train" will go down the drain. more soldiers will be killed and the situation on the ground will be more complex, even though it not something new for the IDF it would be like an endless vietnam, so im not for it. unless hamas takes over and israel uses that reason to annex the west bank, and conduct a military operation to clean up the whole space, so final outcome will be good bye hamas, fatah, PA, PLO and all these terror organizations
35. Guy Bechor must be not jewish!!
Yoav   (09.16.10)
Do you have any jewish morals Mr. Bechor. Your happeness on the account of others. You still want to control the palestinian population. This is not jewish buddy!!!
36. Chaim #29, look closer at Hamas vs Fatah
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.17.10)
Unlike Gaza, Fatah certainly does have Hamas outgunned in the west bank. They are also not going to be surprised like they were in Gaza, where Hamas spent a lot of time preparing for the coup. Unleashed, I think Fatah will quickly head out to settle scores, and Hamas activists will either be killed, arrested and held without trial, or will go into hiding. I can even see a "humanitarian" convoy allowed into Gaza. Fatah proves time and again that it's biggest threat is its inability to rule and refusal to make peace. Fatah is very stable that way. Fatah guys are much less of a danger, since they are easily bought off. Hamas is much more dangerous because its ideology refuses to allow it to even consider peace. We know that Hamas will always be a threat. Kinda like the old Soviets - the only way they'll change their stripes is to die. And that looks like an option, since Egypt is also interested in seeing Hamas fall. Far from being similar to the coup in Gaza, I think the civil war in the west bank would be totally the opposite, with Hamas bodies strung up on poles from Hebron to Shchem.
37. dream on body
Belal ,   Atlanta USA   (09.17.10)
you have a lot of dreamers there. i think this would turn out to be a disaster for Isreal. actually any way you look at it is a disaster for Isreal, isreal will not last very long in that neigborehood. things eventually will turn around sooner or later. no one can stay strong for ever. this is what history teach us. best option for isreali is try to change reality the other way around by making people in that neigborhood friends not enemy. another word, give justice to the palestinians and live with them. there you can last little longer in the region.
38. Must be a joke or Yediot printed totally irresponsible trash
Oren ,   Bat Yam   (09.17.10)
39. Time for something different...
Malone ,   Hfx   (09.17.10)
Drop all support for Abbass and his illeterate brain washed sheep... no more $'s... Let Hamas and Fatah fight it out to the last drop of "martyrs" blood,(hope they have enough virgins) in a civil war..and let Israel deal with the survivors.. couldn't be any worse than it is now.
40. hamas in WB = 3rd intifada
kylie ,   australia   (09.17.10)
What a ridiculous and dangerous idea. Hamas gaining control of the West Bank will only lead to more terror attacks on Israeli soil with israel surrounded even further by radical islam. What a gift to Iran that would be!

from the door, you come through the window!!
45. So it is Not a War on Terrorism!!!!!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.17.10)
After all, this is a clear recognition that the recent war in Gaza was not meant to topple the Hamas rule, but to strengthen it, and that devastating war on Gaza was against Palestinian civilians ! Make sure Guy Bechor This recognition has become in the hands of many people who are interested in . Ynet I'm Determined that Mr. Bahour is a racist and ignorant and God will never forgive him, whether published or not, this is my opinion!
46. Misusing IDF to protect Fatah from Hamas is ludicrous.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
If the IDF had not been, stupidly, ordered to protect Abbas and Fatah, Hamas would have eliminated both long ago. Imagine telling an Israeli parent their son died to protect Fatah!!! Unbelievable. Israel should stand aside and allow Hamas to pummel Fatah into mincemeat. Than we will have only Hamas to deal with. To misuse the IDF to protect Fatah from Hamas is ludicrous.
47. To: Chaim at No. 46
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.17.10)
After much thought, I think I am inclined to agree. Hamas is a terrorist organization, recognized as such by every country in the world that matters. So when Israel -- as it inevitably must -- squashes them like the cockroaches they are .... no harm, no foul. No Hamas either, and that would be a good thing.
48. #46 - aren't US troops in ME to protect Americans?
William ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
Protecting Fatah from Hamas is in Israel's interest, whether it helps Fatah or not. The real issue here is Guy Bachor's poor analysis. While his article proves the ineptness and corruption of Fatah, one must remember what Hamas represents. Fatah is a greedy, corrupt organization - more like mafia or petty criminals. Hamas is driven by religious ideology and will not stop at anything less than genocide. They are inherently more dangerous.
49. #45 - sadly, terrorists often use civilians
William ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
or didn't you see that part in the media? Probably not. IDF's attack on Hamas was repayment for years of rockets and terrorism. Cast Lead was never to dislodge them from Gaza but to show them the price for obeying their genocidal Iranian masters. Had Israel wanted to destroy Hamas in Gaza, you and I both know Hamas would have thrown every civilian at the IDF they could, even blowing Gazans up themselves to score points. The death toll would be horrific. Is that what you want you murderous fiend?? Currently, Hamas is "in charge" but not popular as your own polling has shown.
50. #48 William. This is beyond wrong. It's OBSCENE!
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
#48 William. Please tell me you're joking. You see nothing wrong with sending our sons to protect Fatah terrorists from their Hamas rivals? You see nothing wrong with risking our childrens' lives to protect genocidal Jew and Israel hating terrorists? This is beyond being wrong. It is utterly, totally OBSCENE!
51. World Bias
Doni Kandel ,   Givat Shmuel Israel   (09.17.10)
Unfortunitly we know that if we do this, the world will condemn Israel for sending the innocent Palestinian people to their slaughter, abandoning them to be oppressed, tortures, and murdered by the radical terrorist Hamas regime. The hope that the world would see this burden fall on Jordan and not Israel is a nieve one. Sadly, there is no way for Israel to come out of this looking good.
52. Hamas in WB
Kurt ,   Austria   (09.17.10)
Israel have Hamas as an enemy not peace partner therefor Israel can fight without gloves. Result is clear. The most of occupants of WB had Jordan citizenship or any other and they will have areal choice where to run to. Problem is with Jews: even in the Eve of Jom Kippur they are talking about Tel Aviv not Jerusalem - their capital.
53. in Israel's interest
Kurt ,   Austria   (09.17.10)
I don't understand why Israel tries to gratify everybody instead of insisting of her own truth and interest? What is your headache will Jordan or Egypt happy? They MUST take care of their Muslim brothers. Both countries have a huge empty territories. I can't agree with #46. This is a mistake to pay blackmailer.
54. To #34
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (09.17.10)
You got the idea all the way from "Unless hamas....." Gabe
55. #51
Kurt ,   Austria   (09.17.10)
What's the idea "look good"? Much better look strong and alive
56. YOUR RIGHT
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.18.10)
It really is a master stroke. I've been looking at it from a different perspective. As if the WB falling into Hamas's hands would complete the surrounding of Israel by vicious enemies. Gaza in the South, Hezbo in the North and then Hamas in the WB. But your right, if Abbas doesn't deal, let Israel do what they did in Gaza, walk away. Hamas will seize control, Fatah is gone, internally the Palestinians killing each other will run rampant. In Gaza Hamas killed at 1,436 Palestinians, even more will die in the WB fighting, because that is the Fatah stronghold. It does force Jordan into the conflict, and nobody can blame Israel for any failure of peace. Hamas doesn't want peace...at least that is what they have been saying...if they attack Israel, Israel attacks back. Then we will see how much the "Arab Street" loves Hamas rule in the WB. Your Right. Let the Palestinians have what they wish for, Hamas.
57. Kurt #55
Yallah Yallah ,   Eurabia   (09.18.10)
You are absolutely right. I love the simply way you put it. We are not talking about a fashion show here.
58. #48; William, use it against Hamas
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.18.10)
Fatah is like the mafia, but so is Hamas. As we've seen with the smuggling tunnels, Hamas get a piece of the action for all the tunnels. Just like prohibition in the 1920's. I understand your concern with the ideology of Hamas being possibly more dangerous. But Fatah really has the same ultimate goal as Hamas, to destroy Israel. Fatah would just do it in phases. But Fatah is considered the "good guys" by the world. So if Israel walks away Hamas takes over, but as the "bad guys" with no support even remotely close to Fatah. Hamas will attack Israel, but Israel will NOT have the same world pressure for moving forward for a "peace process". Why? Because Hamas is on the record as no peace, no negotiation, no recognition, no to honoring any past agreements and to destroy Israel. Who in their right mind would expect Israel to deal with group like that. As the author points out, if Hamas fires at Israel, they fire back. If Israel needs another Cast Lead, to clean out the West Bank, so be it. Israel uses the Hamas strength, their sick religious ideology against itself. It relieves Israel of any world pressure to rush into a peace deal. It is a smart play, in the end the IDF can wipe out Hamas, but not while Fatah exists as an alternative. Without Fatah, Israel can take the gloves off. Right now with Fatah, people would say Israel has an alternative. Without Fatah there is no alternative. What you think?

sam ,   brooklyyn us   (09.19.10)
Another great idea-- surrendering territory so the world will like you.How did it worked last 3 times? If you like the world to like you then you must loose a war. Then the world will have sympathy for you.
