1. Of course, peace is possible,
Al Mujahid   (09.16.10)
but the problem is your arrogance and greediness. If you came peacefully to become members of Palestinian people, won your power constitutionally rather than by force backed by Westerners, and side by side with your fellow Muslim Palestinians develop the holy land, there would be no problem. The Zionism has dragged Jews to these troubles and made people around the world hate you. Please come back to your Taurat and kick Zionism off your life.
2. Barak's peace statement
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (09.16.10)
If Barak wishes to continue to delude himself, it is no skin off my nose. However, I can state confidently that he will soon be in for a very nasty surprise.
3. The smart move for Hariri
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.16.10)
Make a secret agreement with Israel, before his army Hezbolized. The IDF working with the LAF could then take out Hezbollah. Israel wants nothing from Lebanon, except to live in peace. Israel wants no land from Lebanon at all. While this probably won't happen, it would solve two problems. Hariri would eliminate Hezbollah as a threat to his power, and he would kill the murderer of his father, Nasrallah. Israel would eliminate the main threat on their northern border. It is a win, win for both parties. Hariri could concentrate on rebuilding his country, Israel gets peace in the north, while weakening Hamas. Because Hamas would lose their ally (Hezbollah), and one of their main weapons suppliers. It would also weaken Syria's influence in Lebanon, and Iran would some influence as well. Could this happen? Who knows? Hariri should think about it. I personally think Nasrallah wants him dead, and maybe that's what it will take, a failed assassination attempt on Hariri Jr.
4. Peace by Appeasement and Retreat ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.16.10)
How is it that Israel is led by delusional fools whose side job by day is False Prophet ? Is this the chant of Israel ? 'Tell me sweet little lies " The truth. When has any nation or people gained peace by appeasing and retreating from an implacable, lying, devious, bloodthirsty, criminal, henious foe ?
5. Barak remember you are DEFENSE MINISTER not prime minister
zionist forever   (09.16.10)
I am sick of Barak going around telling the world all about his big peace plans for Lebanon & Syria and announcing what Israel intends to give up and how Jerusalem will be divided. He speaks out on education & financial issues. He acts like the foreign minister. If Bibis coalition colapses never fear Barak will make sure Israel becomes a true member of the Middle East and he will become Israels first dictaitor. I don't know who would make a worse coalition partner Barak or Livni. Time to tell this wash out former general & before Olmert most unpopular PM in recent time to sit down and shut up.
6. To nr 3
Samir Beytar ,   Beirut Lebanon   (09.16.10)
Get the hell out of Lebanon. You took a lot from us, and we want it all back. If you do not give it back, we will only have to take it by force.
7. Barak: Give Up the Ganga
izzie irgun ,   zion   (09.16.10)
I don't know what Barak is smoking but if he thinks peace with Lebanon aka Hezbollah is achievable he has lost it. What more do we need than the daily provocations and their relationship with Iran. Does he really believe that the country will oppose Hezbollah ... how can they, Hezbollah is the state of Lebanon. And with Hariri in tow as the lap dog of Nastrallah and Syria, the chance for peace as compared to war is rising. Israel needs to start thinking of a 3 state solution .. Israel, The West Bank and Gaza. This would isolate the radicals and force them to either up the ante to try and stop peace or to make peace. That is what is happening right now. If as they are currently doing, seek to stop peace, they will be exposed to the world and set the stage for their destruction ... and this time even the EU will back Israel if they feel that Israel is working with the PA in good faith, which they are. … Peace with Syria and Lebanon is an illusion ….you can’t make peace with people who want to destroy you but you can keep the peace as we are doing now … Until assad and Hezbollah are weakened forget real peace
8. #3
Rami ,   Lebanon   (09.16.10)
Dream on "Mark for Georgia" we will never sign a peace treaty with you. Most Lebanese don't even recognize Israel lol! We prefer to fight with Israel and lose than sign a peace treaty. And IF that ever happens it will be a very saaaaaad day for Lebanon.
9. #1- Al Mujahid, #3- Rami
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (09.16.10)
Read your history. The first large Jewish immigration (in the late 1800's) WAS peaceful. They dressed as the Arabs and began to learn Arabic. The economy improved. [It is then that most "Palestinians" came from the surrounding countries] But they were rejected with murder and violence (aka pogroms). And Rami proves the attitude: 'Death to the end, better than life.' You make your bed, you sleep in it.
10. To Samir Beytar or Kuntar?#6
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.16.10)
Samir... Enta Majnun? Are you crazy? We are not in Lebanon at all. There is no reason for Hezb Allah (The proxy army of Syria and Iran) to occupy Lebanon nor to make aggressions against Israel.
11. Barak and his fantasy
Brod ,   USA   (09.16.10)
Barak should be focusing his eyes on the Islamist-Jihadist fanatics in Iran who have threatened to annihilate Israel and are feverishly working on their nukes to accomplish their evil intention. He should not be dwelling on fantasy with the wolves and tigers of the region who do not know peace.
12. #3 - Mark
Youssef ,   Beirut   (09.16.10)
This won't happen as you put it for several reasons: 1. Lebanon is a democracy and the Prime Minister cannot make such a decision on his own. There is a constitution that needs to be respected. 2. I agree with you that Israel does not want anything from Lebanon. But Lebanon has some claims. First, we want guarantees that the 450'000 Palestinian refugees can return back home. We are too small to integrate them. Also Israel needs to withdraw from the Shebaa Farms. Both countries probably also need to negotiate mutual compensation for destructions incurred on both sides, and the balance is not in Israel's favor. And finally we need to provide each other with non-aggression guarantees. This last condition implies that Lebanon must find an internal solution with Hezbollah's weapons, which should be easier once the other conditions are met. 3. It has yet to be proven that Hezbollah was involved in Hariri's murder. Until the STL comes up with its conclusions, Hezbollah are only suspects, as much as Syria, and ... the Mossad. Once this is done, we can cross the border and party together. Shalom
13. Syria will always be Syria the East RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (09.16.10)
I doubt if any kind of peace is possible with Hizbulah Syria Iran they are just too radicial Arab states to want a peace treaty with Israel they certainly can not be compared to Canada by America the Northern borders will always be in a state of fluctuation but then such is life even Turkley I doubt would want peace because Israel asks too much to make peace even I would never agree to peace with Israel under those terms Barack is nothing more than a Western powers puppet out to destroy the East I respect the East I do not attack them for their own ways unlike the West shame up on those who do I hope for a Hizbulah Syria Israel war to teach the West not to regard them selfs above the East I have Eastern ties Barack has none he is a coward RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.

17. #12 Youssef You Make Some Very
Brazen   (09.16.10)
valid points, however who had the most to gain from saad's baba being murdered? Is it true that 40% of the lebanese army is really hizbullah? Why a SECRET pact with Israel ? I'll tell you my friend hizbullah is was and will always be a DISEASE for the lebanese people, they want YOUR country so they can destoy Israel. As for the refugee's in tripoli and elsewhere they are in very bad situation. THEY left Israel when (4) arab countries attacked Israel and where told after the destruction of the jewish people they can have the WHOLE piece of the pie. Sorry Youssef they (the pali's) scattered are a far less number of jewish people that are scattered to the four corner's of the earth. Sorry no sympathy from me on the right of return for arabs.
18. #17 Brazen
Youssef ,   Beirut   (09.16.10)
Objectively, Israel has gained most of Hariri's murder: Syria out of Lebanon, political chaos in Lebanon, Hezbollah strengthened so more pretexes for Israel to cry "wolf", etc. No, it is not true that 40% of Lebanese army is Hezbollah. As a matter of fact Hezbollah are totally independant. Many here would love to see them integrated in the national army. Lebanon belongs to Hezbollah as much as it belongs to me or any other Lebanese, even if we do not necessarily all agree politically. I assume this is valid in any democracy, starting with Israel. My sympathy (or your lack of it) with regards to the right of return of arabs is irrelevant. There is an international body whose task is to arbitrate. It is called the UN. And this includes the right of return of the Lebanese Jews to Lebanon if they so wish. They are welcome. For your info about 1'000 of them are still living here, and the 18'000 that left did so because of the Lebanon civil wars in late 50's and mid 70's, same as many more Lebanese from other religions.

Although I strongly disagree on some of your points and probably come closer to #17 Brazen, I appreciate the tone and hope in your talkback. It does make me think that maybe we will find a way out. Thank you.
20. BARAK LOOKS GOOD
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.16.10)
Good photos of Ehud Barak. Peace with Lebanon and Syria is possible ,he is correct .But that also largely depends on Lebanon and Syria .

Solomon ,   Bklyn   (09.16.10)
I am saddened to read you have given up your nation of Lebanon to a terrorist organization that doesn't care about you or any Lebanese as they hide behind you, your women and your children. By the way: There is no "right of return" in international law. It comes from a General Assembly resolution which is legally non-binding and has no force as international law. This same resolution states that the returning refugees must be willing to live in peace, which in this case is highly doubtful. Also the rights of refugees are not inherited by their descendants. No other "refugees" have been able to declare refugee status to descendants...except the "Palestinians". This exception in itself may not hold up in a court of law,

Rick ,   Houston-USA   (09.17.10)
Does Barak read Scripture? I doubt it. And Israel, do you put your faith in men instead of the G-D who chose you from among the nations. Israel's enemies will be destroyed before peace will come and for anyone to say anything differently is divorced from reality and probably doesn't know G-D.
23. Peace with Syria and Lebanon
Spencer ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
Stop fooling yourself Mr. Barak. You're begining to sound like your namesake Barak, the President of the USA. These Terrorist sponsering states DON'T want peace with Israel. They want to destroy Israel. Just do your job and keep our army strong. That's the only thing that brings a wee bit of peace to the citizens of Israel (and I include the arabs who live here and vote here).
24. #21 Solomon
Youssef ,   Beirut   (09.17.10)
Lebanon is a complex country. It is wrong to believe that we have "given up our nation to a terrorist organization". Hezbollah represent about half of the shiites, which make up about 40% of the lebanese population, so they account for about 20% of the population, and regardless whether we agree politically with them or not, we have to live with them and respect they have a different opinion. They do not hide behind us. They stand in front of us. They are paying a high price for a cause they believe in, and that the actions of the Israeli government help them fuel. The label "terrorist organization" is not shared by everyone. Apart the 80's bombings of the US barracks in Beirut and attacks against the occupiers (i.e. Israeli military targets) in Lebanon, all other actions imputed to them were never proved (Argentina). To my knowledge they never bombed civilian targets except in retaliation to Israeli shelling of lebanese towns (in 2006). With regards to the "right of return", I am not an expert in international law so not qualified to debate this question. What I said is that the UN will have to arbitrate. And please do not start with "exceptions" to the law as Israel probably benefits from more such exceptions than all other nations together, including the "right of return of descendants". Otherwise to qualify for Alyah a jewish person should be at least 3000 years old, or what am I missing?

hebrew prophet ,   israel   (09.17.10)
So tell us then Youssef where these 450 -000 Palestinian refugees came from and why as it happened in September 1970 ,the ethnic cleansing of the Hashemite kingdom ,the slaughter of 20-000 plus Palestinians ,by you know who,and the fleeing ,into exile of your hundreds of thousands of Palestinians ,by you know who ,King Hussein of Jordan/Palestine ,stop already with Islamic Taqiyah ,please ?
26. #24- Youssef
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (09.17.10)
I understand Lebanon is a complex country, as is most, including Israel. But you leave out certain 'details'. Hezbollah, 'representing 20% of the population', is now effectively in control of the government, ignoring the other 80%. This includes the buckling of Prime Minister Hariri. They hide behind you. You are the ones who paid a high price during the last war, and will pay a higher one in the next. They are placing military targets amongst you, including arms and ammunition caches, some of them in mosques. They do NOT care about you. "Apart [!?] from the bombings of the US barracks..."!?!? Don't forget the French and the American embassies. The Lebanese towns shelled in 2006 had Hizbullah hiding in them and shooting at the Israelis. So the Israelis shot at the towns with Hizbullah and Hizbullah shot at Israeli towns with civilians!? Some "retaliation". 'Right of return': Israel made a law for itself. 'Palestinian right of return' is being proposed by Arabs for another country that they don't even recognize. If that is a precedent, then Israel should make a law that Hizbollah must dissolve and Hizbollah must accept it.
27. It is 2010 face it the calendar tells all RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (09.22.10)
I have never seen a day when the calendar did not tell me every thing once you learn to study and so understand the calendar your eyes minds may open to the real reality truth about what should must happen one 1 thing is for sure there must be a Hizbulah Syria Israel war hopefully the sooner the better once this happens then a peace settlement is possible but not before not before never have the Arabs Jews faced such a delema but if a way may be found for this war then there is hope other wise the way will be worse but who believes me no body I am a prophet with out listeners I hope a accident happens to make this war settle the Golen Heights question and so then proceed to other urgent matters RIGHT BUT HOW H O W HOW the ARAB JEW WORD HOW RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
