1. Oh, bull effing sh*t
Sarah B ,   U.s.A. / Israel   (09.16.10)
Do they REALLY mean to tell us that they have the technology to dismantle and then re-allocate Israeli weapons? I don't THINK so. Hamas idiots cannot hit the broad side of a barn, and yet they want us to believe that they have extremely sophisticated weapons technology? No, they acquired their phosphorus materiel from Iran. Where, oh where, is the United Nations? Amnesty International? All the other bleeding hearts that castigate Israel without end? The silence is deafening. No big surprise there ..... except that Israel is now free to use every weapon in her arsenal without fear of backlash. I mean, no backlash here ... no backlash down the road. Right? Of course right! It's called equitability. Like it? No? Too bad. It is what it is and now we have PRECEDENT. Thank you, idiot Hamas terrorists. Thank you VERY much. Didn't think this won't come back to bite you in the backside? Guess again.
2. First - Arabs lie (we didn't fire it)
CJ   (09.16.10)
Then they find another excuse/lie, then it becomes reality in their eyes. Arabic repertoire at its finest.
3. Well Said Sarah (#1)
emanon ,   USA   (09.16.10)
4. Dangerous New Toys Change the Game
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (09.16.10)
Hamas knows that future use of these weapons will be met with severe consequences.
5. Fair enough statement;
Gershon Reed ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (09.16.10)
I guess we can't complain about them using phosphorous if that is indeed how they obtained it. So I suggest sending them some more so they can continue their experiments. Since munitions wouldn't be allowed through the crossings, I further suggest we send it to them the way we did last time. This time, give them a bulk shipment.
6. #1-5 it took Israel hours long to recognize its own phosphor
observer   (09.16.10)
What incompetence, that's is really what bothers you. It's the harsh realty which hurts.
7. Ha ha ha, returned to sender.:)
Al Mujahid   (09.16.10)
8. Chill
To #1 ,   Boulder USA   (09.16.10)
Sarah, i think you need to take your meds BEFORE you get on the internet not after.
9. # 1 you are 100% rite
new york   (09.16.10)
and just like you dont beleive that hamas men can dismantle and then re allocate israeli weapons , i dont belive that alqaeda men have the guts nor the brains to commit the attack on the world trade center in newyork ....
10. #6 - WOW, you're a real moron
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
Seriously. I've never seen somebody so lacking in the most basic human logic skills. Either you're viciously anti-semitic and accept everything negative you hear, or you were sucking on lead as a kid. But something is askew.
11. #1 - If true, wouldn't mortars have had spent hotdog wrapper
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
How freaking funny is this claim? I remember when IJ and Hamas showed hotdog wrappers and food bags as their claim they "drive out the enemy in a hurry". If anything, that's what should have been in the mortars because that matches their level of technology in the desert.
12. Surprised that liars are lying
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.16.10)
So they are caught dead bang in another lie. From not using phosphorous to yes we used it, but it was from Israel. But that really isn't the story. It is this quote: "This has nothing to do with the peace talks, but with our desire to improve ourselves." It has nothing to do with "peace", that's the real story. It has to do with the continued desire of the Palestinian people to destroy Israel. A goal that has never changed, even with these talks, nothing has changed. So the world writes phony letters to Israel about what they refer to as "illegal settlements" (which is not true, nowhere can they produce any document, they states, with any legal authority the settlements are illegal), and Israel should continue the freeze, Because THAT IS the obstacle to peace, what a crock. It's not the rockets, it's not the mortar shells, it's not Hamas stating that will not honor any outcomes, it's not the drive-by shootings and murders of civilians, it's not Hamas repeating their goal is to take all of Palestine. No it's not any of that, It's those DARN SETTLEMENTS. Yea, that's the ticket!
13. #9 bad comparison
Josh ,   Montreal, Canada   (09.16.10)
Many Arabs know how to fly planes, how many Arab air lines are there? A lot, thats completely different then dismantling a bomb and then relocating it, and then reconstructing a foreign bomb, never the less it's possible as well and to put it past them is just ignorant.
14. hahaha so now they confess in international
ghostq   (09.16.10)
just in case people didn't noticed, cast lead was declaired in the UN before going to the mission, this one on civilians wasn't, and IDF targeted hamas, usually civilians won't touvch this stuff, and yes they confess, not if I didn't know any better this is a good reason for law suit. talking about ego problem.
15. Sarah B..
victor ,   france   (09.16.10)
i think you have a problem. "no backlash ! no backlash !" trigger happy ?
16. #9 - Bin Laden seems to disagree with you
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
and since your "facts" are based solely in your "belief", I'll revert to the cave-dwellers on this one. As with Hamas - your ignorance of the group and their capabilities shines through. With all the universities and knowledge flowing around NYC, how are people like you still there?
17. #12 - Syria claims Israel placed radioactive material
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
So, based on the claims of Hamas and Syria, that their arms come from materials sent by the IDF....wouldn't that mean that if the IDF stopped firing at them, they'd have no more weapons?
18. Just an "Experiment"?????
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (09.16.10)
How much longer before the Palestinians use poison gas, biological weapons or a nuclear device as "just an experiment". It is time to eliminate the threat by closing permanently the border with Gaza, ending food, fuel, power, medicine and water aid to Gaza. Next is to take full title to the West Bank and send the Palestinians home to Jordan.
19. Phosphorus
Ezra ,   Florida   (09.16.10)
So, now what are we waiting for? The "big" one? Let's flatten Gaza and make it a parking lot before they make Israel a bigger one. Forget all those nonsensical "peace talks" together with the Abbases, the Clintons and the Obamas of the world and do what is right. These bastards do not understand any other language but violence. So let 's "speak" some "violencish" to them.
20. Cowards For The Wrong Cause
Brazen   (09.16.10)
#1 Sara B. puts it very eloquently, hamas and their puppet master will feel the STING of Hashem, with the IDF, IAF and the rest the hebrew nation ralling around the ANCESTORAL home of the jewish people and will establish Jerusalem as the ETERNAL capital of Hashem's chosen !!!
21. #7 al-mujahid You
Brazen   (09.16.10)
have a sick sence of humor.
22. Thats a nice lie, but some basic chemisty can help here
The Dude   (09.16.10)
The fact is that white phosphorous is extremely pryophoric, basically it likes to explode. So these terror groups are claiming that they took large artillery shells or even large caliber mortar shells. Opened them, without any sparks, took out the phosphorous powder and put it into another mortar shell? Besides the inherent danger of avoiding sparks when opening up old duds, and casting it with some expensive machinery into new mortar shells. I also have to ask who did they avoid the problem from atmospheric water. The fact is that pyrophosphoric acid is very hygroscopic. Essentially meaning once exposed to the environment this should collect a lot of water, especially in this humid environment of the Mediterranean. http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts103.html Also important to consider "White phosphorus reacts rapidly with oxygen, easily catching fire at temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above room temperature." This is basically the condition of opening a dud bomb, in our 30-35C weather in this area. The only way to really work safely and avoid this is to use an anoxygenic environment, basically filling a box constantly with inert gases, mainly N2 (nitrogen), in an air conditioned, with some de-humidification added in for good measure. So either these terror groups have very advanced and EXPENSIVE labs ready at the go. Or they are lying about where they go the white phosphorous.
23. #18 - Agreed. We can call it an "experiment"
William ,   Israel   (09.16.10)
24. ha.
ghs   (09.16.10)
this was a good one. especially in light of the comments like "phosphorous isnt that bad" or the flat out denial that phosphorous was used. how do you like it now?
25. It seems that
Duchess   (09.16.10)
many talkbackers here do not have a problem with phosphorus being sent to Israel via mortar bombs... How inhumane...
26. silence
avi ,   haifa   (09.16.10)
I have to agree with the dude. Anybody with a basic knowledge in inorganic chemistry knows of the dangers in playing with even normal phosphorus. the problem is not how they made tha grenades or where the material comes from but the utter silence of those who called Israel a war criminal for using white phosphorus and at the same time giving hamas a "carte blanche" for shelling civilians on purpose with this material. it's time to call them for what they are - terrorists.
27. Tic Tac
Pedro ,   Brazil   (09.16.10)
The true is that soon or later Hamas will have the capability to kill thousands of Israelis. Or cause infrastructure damage that will cost months or years for recovery. So In my opinion the time run against you.
28. To: William at No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.16.10)
Hamas is a running joke. I love watching Israel toy with them. Of course, they are also a poisonous snake, but anytime Israel wants, it can cut off the head of the snake, and watch it die. Frankly ..... I can't wait. And -- sooner or later; probably sooner -- that is EXACTLY what Israel will do. I wonder what Hamas would say if they ever went to a ball park, what with all those discarded hot dog wrappers ..... do you think they realize how STUPID they are?
29. To: No. 15
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.16.10)
Are you suggesting that every time Hamas acts aggressively, Israel should roll over and play dead? Not going to happen. Hamas needs to learn that if you sow the wind, sooner or later you will have to reap the whirlwind. Backlash. Yes .... that's the word. It has nothing to do with "trigger happy." Do you have a problem with that? Too damn bad.
30. This smells like BS
withheld ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (09.16.10)
The first thought I had when I saw the headline, was to write BS in the talkback. To my amusement, the first reply reads: "Oh, bull effing sh*t" :oD I think it says heaps :op
