1. Israeli & Turkish to meet.
JUDAH THE LION   (09.17.10)
NO WAY ISRAEL TO APOLOGISE TO TURKEY NEITHER TO PAY EVEN ONE SINGLE CENT compensation to the families who were killed. In fact,TURKEY SHOULD to apologise to Israel for the incitements showing IDF killing children and the rest. NO WAY = NO WAY=
2. Memo to Gul: Don't ask for what you will not get.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.17.10)
There will be no apology from Israel, nor any compensation for responding to Turkish thugs on the high seas. So Gul shouldn't bother demanding what he will not get. As to any warming, yesterday's "Globes" reported - based on an article in Turkey's "Zaman" - that Turkey was suspending 16 defense agreements with Israel. Some warming.
3. Turkey
Harris ,   West Palm Beach   (09.17.10)
Shouldn't it be the other way around? Israel should be demanding an apology from Turkey for its provocative statements and actions. If Turkey chooses to ally with Iran, it should not be welcomed into the civilized world.
4. We should apologize for Turkey sending terrorists? Dream on!
Yaniv ,   Israel   (09.17.10)
5. Turkey should apologize to Israel.
USA   (09.17.10)
If Turkey wants normalization in relations.
6. Very bizarre
Zyx ,   US   (09.17.10)
Why would they meet for Gul to ask for something Turkey has already asked so many times before, without any success? This news does not make any sense to me except if we consider that Gul is ready to move forward in reestablishing the relationship with Israel. In this case the supposed apology agenda would only be a way for him to make this meeting more acceptable to those who would criticize him for the initiative. Gul is the President and therefore more or less neutral in the turkish political landscape. This meeting would be a good sign.
7. So we are an enemy state, good to know.
Genuine Moshe   (09.17.10)
8. To Mr. Peres
Erich   (09.17.10)
Please don't bother meeting with the Ghoul. He/it will more than likely use the meeting to stage an anti-Israel publicity stunt, like his love partner Shmerdogan did at Davos.
9. enemey state huh?
pini ,   usa   (09.17.10)
ya well eat it turkey. Israel better not apologize for anything!
10. Feture wil not be beautiful for İsrail if not to apoligize..
hasan ,   uştu   (09.17.10)
11. Perez and gull
Unal ,   London   (09.17.10)
Gul is on mission to see what can be salvaged. Perez, also is eager. simple minded people should understand that brothers sometimes have differences too. Reading some of the comments I think some people talk with there a..
12. Peres
Malone ,   Hfx   (09.17.10)
Beingthe leftie that he is,it wouldn't surprise me if he did. He's a "peace at all cost" type of guy. If he does,he should be "retired" asap.
13. Did Kurds, Armenians ever got THEIR apology, for slaughter
Diamond   (09.17.10)
14. Gul: These Turks have an identity crisis
carlos ,   San Diego U.S.A.   (09.18.10)
They are confused, they will be like that for at least 200 years, better not to talk to them, it's worthless, don't believe them. They are mentally deranged.
15. turkey/Israel
Louis Fried ,   Woodbridge, Canada   (09.18.10)
No apology. No compensation. Period.
16. The ATTACK came from terrorists on the ship, dumb turks.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.18.10)
17. Apology?
Miro ,   Italy   (09.18.10)
Israelis wake up! You continue to buy cars made in Turkey, food, detergents etc.
18. Gul?
güldürürüm   (09.18.10)
Quite a difference, if you spell it turkish, which is: Gül.
19. Turkish arrogance
Paul Mirbach ,   Israel   (09.18.10)
What gets me is Turkish arrogance, that there were no ulterior motives by the IHH in planning the flotillas. All those ready made clubs and axes were just found floating around in the sea. If Turkey describes its relations with us while diplomatic relations still exist btwn them as "enemy states", so be it. Know who your enemy is. Such hypocrites! Like the Kurds and the Armenians were killed justifiably? Right!
20. Turkey should apologize for the Act of War against Israel!
Truuth from ,   Middle East   (09.18.10)
Peres, do NOT apologize for being an Israeli and a Jew. Do not shake the treacherous hand of this represent ant of a racist and genocidal country. Turkey does not deserve anything from Israel: NO apology, NO compensation, NO support and NO friendship. Arrogant Turkey must do the following if it ever wants Israel to reconsider its relations with Ankara: 1. Apologize for the blood libels and incitement against Israel in the Turkish media. 2. STOP all and any incitement Nd blood libel against Israel, including but not limited to the libelous, racist and hateful movies, radio programs, Internet campaigns and newspaper articles. 3. Apologize for insulting Peres at the Davos conference. 4. Apologize for supporting terror against Israel. 5. Stop all support and collaboration with Hamas, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. 6. Apologize for the attack on Israel through the flotilla flying the Turkish flag, and under the Turkish government protection. 7. Apologize for sending terrorists into the territorial waters of Israel. 8. Apologize for committing an Act of War against Israel by trying to breach a blockade which is legal under any and all International laws. 9. Compensate the unarmed IDF soldiers who were lynched by the terrorist mob they sent on a Turkish ship. 10. Compensate Israel for the direct and indirect damages as a result of the Flotilla Act of War. 11. Apologize for interfering with the Israeli internal matters. So you see Gul, you have a LOT to apologize for. Don't even dare asking for an apology from Israel. Take your pompous and arrogant attitude back home. You are not making an impression here, we are not a heap of illiterate Muslims who believe your lies and support your crimes. Israel is not a province of the defunct Ottoman Empire anymore, empire which raped, pillaged and destroyed Europe. And do I need to mention the Armenian Genocide and the War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity committed against the Kurdish Freedom Fighters? See? DON'T START IT WITH US! You will fail just as the rest of the Muslim dictators who tried to rape and break us. Get lost!
21. Gul, Erdogan, read the Israeli media before barking!
Infomercial ,   for Turks   (09.18.10)
If you care to read the mainstream Israeli media, which most of the time doesn't agree within itself, this time the majority says "no" to the arrogant and bellicose demands coming from Ankara. So yes. The majority of the Israelis are united to saying a resounding "no" to your cheeky demands and racist and hateful actions. That means that you cannot demand anything from the Israeli government: on this one they have a strong majority supporting them. So take your rahat-lokum and shove it where Sun don't shine. You're not getting anything from Israel, apart from a strong three-fingered salute, and "don't call us, we'll call you" (like... NEVER!)
22. demand from a turkey.....
les ,   canada   (09.18.10)
these people have no shame? they knew the real purpose of the "mission", and the known terrorist on board. after they appologize on their knees to the ARMENIAN PEOPLE, and to the KURDISH PEOPLE for the genocide commited against them, then ISRAEL may except their APPOLOGIES..... reluctantly!!!
23. Israel was too generous
Bob ,   USA   (09.18.10)
Under international law, Israel captured those ships. They legally belonged to Israel and Israel was under no obligation to give them back. Israel basically made a gift to the blockade runners by giving back the ships. The crews and any passengers who resisted were legally POWs and could have been held until the end of hostilities (i.e., until peace between Israel and Hamas, aka forever). Israel let them go instead. On top of Israel being incredibly magnanimous the Turks want an apology for Jews not letting Turks murder them? I hope Perez isn't that stupid.
24. Definitional quibble
Bob ,   USA   (09.18.10)
Technically, the Turks on the Gaza flotilla who attacked the Israelis were committing an act of war not an act of terrorism. They attacked soldiers, not civilians. Under international law, the passengers of a blockade runner who resist capture are considered in much the same category as soldiers. They can be shot if they don't surrender and they are POWs if they are captured, but they are not terrorists. Well, that is the act doesn't make them terrorists. If they had committed actual terrorist attacks at other times, then they would be terrorists, just not acting as terrorists in this one case. Even though in this case, their mission was to open a route for smuggling weapons to terrorists, this was not itself a terrorist attack. They were acting as Jihadis, or soldiers, not terrorists. We should use the right terms for the sake of accuracy. Also to avoid losing credibility when talking about actual terrorist attacks like the one in the West Bank where Hamas murdered those four Israelis.
25. Ghul, first appologize for letting your proxy
di   (09.18.10)
sailor "send us all(I mean, Jews) back to Ausshwitz" when asked to change course. Ghul, you should better save your trip to New York, no one in Israel will ever appologize to a state becoming extremist by the day. You know, if Turkey wants to be buddies with the monkey president and become a European peer at the same time, just forget about it. Israel should duly and finally ask for Turkey's appology.
26. apology
atik ,   usa   (09.18.10)
Come on guys. It's OK if israeli gov. refuses to apologize. The worst thing that can happen is that the turkish gov. will no longer invite the israeli officials to any dinner.
27. I saw that movie before
Atheist Turk ,   at the moment Spain   (09.18.10)
28. no.6
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (09.19.10)
We,re somehow missing the bigger pic ture here which is; what do the Turks actually want so badly, from Israel that they still need more talking/meetings between the belligerent Turkish govt. officials and Shimon Peres, after all the harsh words from Erdogan to Peres ,far better to ignore the Turks for the time being ?
29. east is better for turcky.....
viva atturck ,   Northan cypress   (09.19.10)
I agree... they have moved their forign policy towards the east as they have been rejected by the west. And what better way to enter the east than by bashing israel.....
