If Syria has demands then so should Israel. Assad must disarm hezbollah, break with Iran, recognize Israel as a Jewish state, no interruptions of water flow to the Galliee and US monitoring of any troop movements. And the Assad has to take his case to the Israeli people directly, as did Sadat.

That's an easy one! Sure, I fully support the complete transfer of the Golan Heights in return for the complete demilitarization of Syria. After Syria has used its territory, including the Golan, three times to attack Israel in all out wars whose aim was the erasing Israel from the face of earth and with it all traces of Jewish existence, i.e. 1948, 1967, , 1973, and in so doing breaking treaties and international law. And after three times that Israel managed to repel the Syrian army, operating within coalitions of other Muslim-Arab armies, and to gain control over the launching pad of Syria's aggression, i.e. the Golan, why should Israel take more risks...??!! Would any other country do so...??!!

If he has something worthwhile to offer -- repatriating the remains of Eli Cohen, z.l., for example -- we'll listen. But Golan? No. Never. It's a security issue, and on those, Israel cannot relent. Look at what Syria used the Golan for between 1948 and 1967 --- daily mortar shelling of Israeli settlements and kibbutzim. Why should anyone believe that Syria has any peaceful intentions, particularly since they have studiously avoided recognizing the Jewish State? And is a querulous and questionable "peace" with Syria worth it? I don't think it is. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure it isn't.
