7. A very good, creative idea. ZAKA members ...
Zvi   (09.24.10)
ZAKA volunteers are heroes who perform a very important religious function. They provide essential life-saving and rescue services. They also ensure the dignity of the dead. They risk their lives in the process, especially when called to the scene of a terror attack. In addition, ZAKA volunteers are sent abroad to help rescue victims of disasters in places like Haiti and help to recover the bodies of Jews who die in remote places. There is EVERY reason to involve non-Jewish sectors in ZAKA, and NO reason to shy away from doing so. For more information about ZAKA: http://www.zaka.org.il http://www.zaka.us They are also looking for people to join the ZAKA International Rescue Unit. http://www.zaka.us/intl-home.asp
8. What gives?
Shaya ,   Texas   (09.25.10)
Why haven't the Arab minorities established their own version of ZAKA in the last 62 years. Surely, they weren't waiting for the Jews to come clean up their dead.
9. Where in the world is there such an organisation ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.27.10)
They mostly have only the red cross , we have something more . Druza and Arabs here relied on the Magen David Adom . Now they will have their own form of Zaka , with their own volunteers . I don't know if for them it's also something that is as a Mitzwa for Jews , to save lives . Maybe the reason that they did'nt have it yet ?
10. False advertising
Shlomi ,   Israel   (09.27.10)
They have said FALSLY that they have had this for years
11. "It's a crime that it's taken 62 years ..."
Amy ,   off rt 40   (09.28.10)
It's a great story, but it's disappointing that Kara turns this into a story of inequality when the reality is that ZAKA is a volunteer organization, set up by the community and not by the bureaucracy. The Arab and Druze communities had every right to set up their own volunteer organizations any time they wanted to. There's no "equality" issue involved here.
12. @arik: not stupid
jbsfsax ,   Germany   (09.30.10)
"They" are human beings like you and me. If some of them or even many of them behave in a manner you don't like, this doesn't deprive any one of them from being human and deserving compassion and help in cases of emergency or attack (also Arabs were killed by terrorists in Haifa and Netanya) Its stupid to judge in such simplistic ways, you have to learn your thora more deeply and understand WHAT a compassionate G'd He is, the rock of Israel! He is a father of all mankind, he had compassion for Hagar and her son in the desert, blessing him to become nations. As Jitzhak was blessed, Ishmael was, but not the same blessing.
13. Absolutely! Keep it coming! Juze and the Druze
Jae ,   Lynn US   (10.01.10)
and the loyal Arabs of Israel, one nation!
14. ZAKA is a volunteer org. Arabs didnt value this for 62
Jae ,   Lynn US   (10.01.10)
years, no need to say inequality! No one is stopping you from doing the same! private jewish citizens set up the volunteer ZAKA org. the only ones who prevent Arabs from the doing the same ar,...Arabs. Accountability people. The sooner you lean on yourself and stop blaming others the sooner you are no longer a victim in your eyes or the eyes of others.
