1. Israel to IAEA "NO" -Wise move
DT ,   TA Israel   (09.21.10)
The question now is, with US and & EU accepting Iran as nuclear power Iran will do whatever it likes. The question is will Israel sit immersed in the incurable western disease of weakness 'hoping for the best " but assured of the worst and the government that ensured our end ?
2. we have Obama to thank for this not the arabs or IAEA
zionist forever   (09.21.10)
HATES ISRAEL & WOULD LOVE TO TURN THE WHOLE PLACE INTO AN ARAB STATE. LOVES ARABS & MUSLIMS IS OBSESSED WITH MAKING ARABS HAPPY IS ON A CAMPAIGN AGAINST NUCLEAR WEAPONS Obama doesn't have the muscle to pressure India & Pakistan to do anything and is in no hurry to try. Neither of those countries have signed the NPT and officially have nukes The arabs are oportunists so they will take advantage of every situation they can get to weaken Israel anyway possible. They have seen that they can play Obama like a puppet on a string and so they want to make use of him to try and harm Israel as much as possible while they got him. The IAEA are doing their job trying to force Israel to sign the NPT The arabs are doing their job trying to harm Israel. Obama is the only one who is not doing his job properly by going all out to get Israel disarmed but doing nothing about Iran. The Middle East will be a safer place when Obama is gone.
3. If israel Can Say No Then Iran Has Every Right
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.21.10)
To Be Armed To Teeth With Nukes. And those nukes should be aimed right at Israel. The same goes for Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, SA, and Libya. I think that MAD would bring some stability to the Middle East. Maybe then Israel could learn to live within the borders mandated by the UN in 1947 and start acting like adults instead of spoiled little children.
4. Israel has reason to maintain its stand on NPT.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.21.10)
Israel is indeed being singled out. Neither India nor Pakistan are NPT signatories, and both are acknowledged nuclear powers. Yet the IAEA does not pursue them as it does Israel. Israel is under a broad range of threats - not just from conventional forces from the likes of Iran, Syria and Hizbullah, but from weapons of mass destruction aside from the nuclear. Unless all those threats are eliminated - including those of a chemical or biological nature - Israel is right to maintain its current deterrent posture. The IAEA should adopt a simple rule where Israel is concerned: Don't ask for what you're not going to get.
5. As Nancy Reagan said, "Just say NO."
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.21.10)
6. Israel should sign the treaty
seadog1946 ,   Shooters Island, NJ   (09.21.10)
and set an example since it is the "light unto the world" and the "apple of God's eye". Besides, it's neighbors Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria are all signatories.
7. against jewish interests?
morbid ,   usa   (09.21.10)
thats like admitting of being guilty of having nukes therefore iran and all arab countries have just as much right of obtaining them.
8. No!, it's Israel who demands singling out Syria
observer   (09.21.10)
Singling out a state assumes that there are a number of states in the same position and only one state was singled out. But, the fact is that all the states in the region have acceded to the NPT except Israel. The IAEA lacks legal means to get Syria to open up because the country's basic safeguards treaty covers only its one DECLARED atomic facility, an old research react
9. Israel is ALREADY a Member of the IAEA. B) signing an NPT
talknic ,   Sydney Australia,   (09.21.10)
as a Nuclear armed state does not require that state to relinquish their nukies. It is an NPT non-proliferation treaty. I .e., do not proliferate
10.  # 3 world citizen
Brazen   (09.21.10)
Israel Didn't sign NPT as iran DID SIGN the NPT, which means they iran must follow the LAW. Does iran know what the word LAW means? Everything they do in their power to thwart the iaea will come back on iran and it's people THREE FOLD !!!
11. Everyone should have it or no one, can't fight like old days

12. #3 Your post is such a pathetic rant......
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (09.21.10)

14. #12 You Can't Refute Bacause You Have No Argument To Offer
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.21.10)
My logic is clear and concise. It's called "What is good for the goose is good for the gander." If Israel has nukes to "defend" itself then why shouldn't everyone else in the Middle East have the right to defend themselves? Israel is not a special case. You should sign the NNPT, open Dimona to inspections by the IAEA and admit to having nuclear weapons. Do that or shut up because everyone is tired of hearing Israel harp about Iran. The benefits of MAD would assure each side of total destruction of its enemy . If you Jewish fanatics and Muslim fanatics want to kill each other the rest of the world can live with it. We're sick of you warmongers.

zionist forever   (09.21.10)
Being a light unto the world doesn't do you much good when you want to defend yourself from others. The fact that Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia have all signed it doesn't mean Israel should. Any possible future palestinian state will not be allowed a military .. no tanks, no jets, warships, subs so does should Israel disarm as well because its neighbor has no military and we want to be a light unto the world? Its the nuclear weapons which makes the arabs think twice about trying to destroy it and its the only leverage it has over the US. No nuclear weapons then the US would have no reason to make sure Israel stays top dog in terms of conventional weapons. If the US believes that its in its best interests to have a weak and pathetic Israel and strong arab sector then as there are no nukes Israel will have no leverage. In 1973 in the early days of the war Israel was loosing the war and had taken heavy casualties and was begging the US to send weapons to replace the early losses and the Nixon administration kept refusing. Golda then sent the US a friendly reminder that if Israel went down so would the arabs suddenly the weapons started flowing and after that Israel was signed up to the US military aid program. No nukes means the arabs will loose their fear of Israel and the US will have no reason to make sure Israel stays on top. I would rather Israel looked like a pariah in the eyes of the world and its national security ensured than a light unto nations and a weak country which will have a much harder time defending itself.
16. to world citizen you can't compare
Barney ,   USA   (09.21.10)
Israel to iran because Israel's leaders don't believe in the apocalyptic theology of the mad mahdi returning. Israel loves life and contributes to the world in all fields. They are in Haiti still helping and giving surgeries to children from there and in Israel who are Jewish and arabs. There are no Jews running around all over the world with a love of blowing people up and flying planes into buildings. Just last night here it was reported that an arab tried to drop a bomb in chicago but was thwarted by an undercover agent. The mentality is not the same and you just aren't smart enough to see that.
17. Israel has to come to grips with the fact
Dave   (09.21.10)
the world is not willing to accept the old double standard any longer.
18. Excellent!
Brad ,   USA   (09.21.10)
Great decision. Now, stick too it. Don't cave in to "world opinion". You just told the UN to drop dead. Do it again, whenever you get the chance.
19. #17, you miss the point...
Ted ,   UK   (09.21.10)
Sorry mate, I don't know where you live, but if I was surrounded with foes that just look for the first sign of weakness to destroy me, and they openly declare it, like Iram, I would have kept this capability, this is NOT double standard this is common sense for survival. Israel never threatend any of it's neighbours with nuclear strike, not to mention that you can't compare nuclear capability beingheld by a democratic country with checks and balances, to a fanatic regime who believes in apocaliptic views.

zionist forever   (09.21.10)
Nuclear weapons are not toys we should not be saying that just because one country has them then we should make sure everybody else gets them as well. Israel like India & Pakistan has chosen not to sign the NPT so its nukes are legal under international law. 5ran signed the NPT when the Shah was in charge so that means Iran has no legal right to nukes. 3) Bring MAD to the region isn't going to increase stability its going to increase the chances of a nuclear war. Look at who runs these countries who your proposing we give nukes to. Royalty who could be overthrown something thats happened plenty of times throughout history. Brutal dictators, countries where the real power is in the hands of terrorists who are a law unto themselves. Countries like Iran run by a bunch of ayatollahs who believe in the suicide cult and want to run the region. During the cold war neither the US or Soviet Union wanted nuclear war and they were both run by responsible leaders. There are very few countries in the Middle East with responsible leadership Israels nukes have made sure the arabs know their place ( Israel is top dog ) and stopped any wars with the aim of destroying it for close to 40 years. The instability in the region as far as Israel is concerned is the palestinians and giving nukes to Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, SA and Libiya won't stop the palestinian problem. Having all those countries armed with nukes would not have stopped the intefada or stop Hamas firing rockets into Sderot. The best thing for regional stability is a strong Israel with nukes and weak arabs who know their place. Israel has also never existed in the 1947 border. IN 1947 the UN proposed giving Israel 55% of mandate Palestine minus Jaffa and Jerusalem. The arabs would have got 45% of Palestine plus Jaffa although no Jerusalem. In 1948 the arabs attacked Israel and when it was all over Israel was left with 78% of Palestine along with Jaffa and Jerusalem was divided for the first time in its history and Israel got the west and Jordan the east. In 1967 Israel captured the east of Jerusalem and reunited the city, the Golan, Sinai and the remaining 22% of mandate Palestine. Assuming we created 2 states based on the 1967 border it will still leave the palestinians with a maximum of 22% of mandate Palestine rather than the 45% + Jaffa as mandated by the UN in 1947. The idea the palestinians will never get anything like what the UN offered them in 1947.

Solomon ,   Bklyn   (09.21.10)
The warmongers are those countries that have tried and are still threatening to destroy Israel; best example of continual threats is Iran. Israel has not threatened. In fact, with all the wars Israel has fought, especially when they almost lost the Yom Kippur War, they still did not use nuclear weapons. Their enemies would use them in a first strike. There IS a difference. Please ignore this email. This is for others, who may read this and think about it. It's futile to write to those, such as your self, who "know" you are right even if all facts show otherwise. Thanks.
22. World Citizen you are just campaigning for a nuclear ME.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (09.22.10)
You are the warmonger. Let us not be side-tracked. The only reason the other ME countries want the nuclear bomb is because Iran is getting it and nobody is stopping Iran. That has the ME countries very nervous because they fear Iran, not Israel. None of those ME countries showed any interest in the N. bomb until recently, even though Israel had it ages ago. They want the bomb as a deterrent against Iran. Don't try that.
23. #21 Israel Was Aggressor In Every War Except Yom Kippur
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.22.10)
Every one! You've used the excuse that the Arabs want to push Israel into the sea in every land grab Israel ever undertook. You used that excuse in 1948, 1956 (Suez Canal), 1967, the first Lebanon War, the second Lebanon War. You've stolen the offshore drilling and fishing rights from Gaza. Israeli is itching to go into Lebanon again so you can steal the water out of the Latani River. Iran never threatened Israel. Israel deliberately mis-translated the speech by the Iranian president so your government could drum up a war with Iran. Your lobby in the United States schemesconstantly for the USA to attack Iran. Why? Because Iran supplies Syria and Hezbullah with the arms necessary to defend themselves against Israel aggression. Iran is checking Israel's imperialistic dreams. Of course ynetnews won't let this post go through because it's the truth and the last thing ynetnews wants is the truth. But the editors can read the post and they know I'm telling the truth.
24. #23 When so small and enemies surround you what would you do
Human Citizen ,   Planet Earth   (09.22.10)
Do you wait for them to attack at their chosen moment and hope for the best or you surprise them to gain a strategic advantage over armies 10 times the size of yours, concentrating along your borders. Israel has no strategic depth and had no choice, otherwise it would not exist today, each time millions of Arabs gather at the border to attack Israel. Israel cannot withstand for too long barrages of rockets and artillery from across the border without retaliation. What would you recommend if Mexico fires at US on a daily basis but not attack? Shouldn't the US try to raid Mexico to rid of the military infrastructure that supports such activities? Not only in 1973 but in 1948 too 7 Arab armies attacked Israel first and only by miracle and after many, many fatalities (1% of total Jewish population killed, equivalent to 2 million American civilians in WW2) they were pushed back. I hope but won't be surprised if you don't understand the trauma and constant fear of Israel that this could happen again.

Solomon ,   Bklyn   (09.22.10)
What planet do you live on? 1. Jews bought land and cleared it. Arab pogroms against the Jews then forced the Jews to defend themselves. As did the invasion of 5 (if not more) Arab armies. 2. Suez canal was nationalized by Egypt, which did not allow Israeli shipping to enter: an act of war. 3. Nasser threatened to annihilate Israel. Arab armies built up their forces, surrounding Israel. Remember that Israel was still at war with the Arabs. 4. Israel was attacked before each of the Lebanon wars. 5. Iran never threatened Israel!?!?!? AhMADinagad does it almost every day! 6. Hamas is at war with Israel. Their choice. There are no "rights" in such a situation. 7. The US Govt is considering attacking Iran for it's own reasons. It doesn't need help from anyone, thank you. 8. Who is the aggressor?!?! A country the size of New Jersey has imperialistic dreams!?!?!? Look at a map and find the sliver that is Israel. 9. Ad nauseum. What planet do you live on????
26. World citizen
Zain   (09.22.10)
What would you do if you were living in the wild surrounded by monster (iran) and predators(hezbollah etc) would you give up your living by giving up you arms at your disposable? Im sure not.Thats the situation with israel.Israel never threatened any ME country to be wiped out of the map,nor it has armed any terror group to harm its enemy, iran is doing that, how can you say iran has the right to have nuke? For other ME countries seeking nuclear energy is not b'coz of fear of israel but iran, israel have nukes for very long time, but its only now those ME countries see iran a biggest threat and not israel
27. Israels population on crossroad?!?!
peter vojta ,   czech republic   (09.22.10)
It is also unfair to single Iran out when any nation on the planet can produce WMD within 5 years? /Scott Ritter/ . Its pretty clear to whole World now, that Israels "colonial"regime is the biggest obstacle to peace in M.E. and that Israels regime will continue initiate many wars of /deception/ aggression in near future. Result of that could easily be, that Humanity may seriosly consider to cancel Israels membership amoung civilised nations and bring to end this "embarrassing experiment" ... I trust reasonable people in Israel will prevent current fanatical leadership.....and will change polical regime in Israel for whatever cost. If they fail, it probably will mean total distruction of big part of the World including Palestine/Israel peter czech

Iran is the only country threatening destruction of others. The terrorist groups funded by Iran spew the same stuff. You got it backwards. See post #25.
