1. Abbbaasss....
Hussam ,   Ramallah, Palestine   (09.22.10)
Are you serious? Saying "Not a single more day of negotiations while settlements expanded" and now he "leaves the door open" yet again. What a hypocrite.
2. Abbas -peace
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (09.22.10)
PA leader Abbas tells New York Jews he cannot say definitely that he would walk away from talks if West Bank construction resumes,if he cannot decide then who can as he is the Palestinian leader ,typical clownish behavior from the chief clown of the Palestinian circus ?
3. No 2 states for 2 peoples then Israel must stop negotiating
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (09.22.10)
Fayaad rejected the idea of two states for two people, out of hand and angrily, so what is there to discuss? Nothing. The talks were always a charade but now we see that the PA doesn't believe in two States for two peoples but in a Palestinian State and and a second State that would contain Jews but have a Muslim majority and also be a Muslim State. Israel holds on the cards so tell the PA to go take a hike!
4. As if Israel gives a hoot if Abbas wants to resume talk
Shalom   (09.22.10)
or not. Construction in Yehuda and Shomron will start in 4 days whether he likes it or not because there will anyhow never be peace with Arabs. So why cause Jews to suffer a day longer?
5. #1 - do you believe that peace talks are ongoing?
michael peterson ,   London, UK   (09.22.10)
They are not and the whole thing is a charade, that's being put on by both Israel and the PA. Fayyad refused to agree to two States for two peoples yesterday. So what is there to talk about? The whole thing is a show for the US and the EU and nothing more. I'd love to see two States living in peace, but the problem is not land but religion. But you know that already ;-)
6. Both Abbas and Netanyahu will have to compromise, not easy
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (09.22.10)
Abbas' main backing now is the Arab League until PA and Hamas can reach a deal. Netanyahu maybe in a tighter spot right now, with settlers his main backers. The US Jewish groups likely hold the key to Netanyahu's next move and how far he can go.
7. IT'S ABBA'S PENSION PLAN
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (09.22.10)
Abbas cannot afford to walk away from negotiations. The moment that he does,he's washed up;yesterday's man.No more high-life supported by us,no more international travel,no more enriching himself ,his family and his cronies at our expense,no more hearing his own miserable voice on the world stage and no more protection. Mr Netanyahu is in a very strong position and shouldn't give an inch because of Abbas's self interested bluffing. I'm really looking forward to the end of September. If Abbas doesn't come to terms with his ridiculous imagined self -importance by then we can wave him goodbye and good riddance. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
8. Abbas will demand "Arab Vote"
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.22.10)
...when Jews continue to build in the West Bank. Native Arabs are 60% of the total population in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, and refugees.
9. #8STEVE BENASSI:::LET'S HAVE A BIG JEWISH VOTE,TOO
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (09.22.10)
If Abbas wants to try to out-vote the Jews in Israel by scraping together everyone who can possibly pose as a 'Palestinian Arab' no matter where he be,let's have a vote by ALL the Jews throughout the world. We know who we are and there are plenty enough of us to outvote this phoney,Abbas. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
10. And what does Abbas expect?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.22.10)
That we going for fall to our knees to thank him? Who cares?
