32. Barak must personally apologize to the victims
zionist forever   (09.24.10)
Barak must apologize to the Israeli commandos who boarded the ships. He must apologize for the fact that he sent those men aboard the ship with paintball guns rather than riot gear. Those men should have had tear gas and rubber bullets so they could defend themselves better. It should have been predicted there may have been trouble and riot gear may have prevented that. As a result of them not being issued the right weapons some of the commandos were injured and so Barak owes them an apology.
33. no apology
marcel   (09.24.10)
Gul-there is no apology. You can say what you want . It is filled with lies though your interpretation of islam holds that lying is a hudna to achieve your objective. You are not dealing wiht ollmert or barak who get down on their knees to beg for acceptance. In fact, you owe israel and apology and compensation. Also don't make threats of war unless you plan to back it up. And israel will know how to defend itself.

Protesting a "siege?" No, not quite. Israel's blockade of Gaza is fully legal, and internationally acknowledged. Run it at your own risk. On the bright side -- Israel would have been fully justified and well within its rights to simply launch a missile amidships, and sinking the MARI MARMARA. Are you Turks ALWAYS so ungrateful?
40. Re :6
Galut ,   Selah   (09.24.10)
Greg - the right thing is for Israel to stand firm ... the ones that need to apologize is those demostraters that were laying in wait with clubs and bats with intent to do bodily harm to israeli sodiers ....the video of them clubing israeli soldiers is worth a million words....
41. Gul
Zyx ,   US   (09.24.10)
Turkey should apologize. The Turks are the ones who masterminded the whole scheme. And how about the numerous crimes committed by the Turks (Cyprus, Armenia, the kurds, the ethnic cleansing of all their minorities, including the Greeks in the 50's and the 60's)? When is Gul going to apologize for them?
42. Ignore Greg, he does not care about facts
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (09.24.10)
He will not let all your important facts confuse him. He will not let them get in the way of his pre-made agenda, of coaxing an apology from Israel, by bullying it with supposed facts about how miniscule and insignificant we are. I wonder if he'll ask Obama to apologize for America's crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, which by far exceed whatever Israel did to the flotilla. But I think I know the answer.
43. Emeth from Istanbul
David Israel ,   New York , USA   (09.24.10)
The Turkish government claims that despite the Israeli warnings about the flotilla they could not have stopped it because it was not a government sponsored mission, it was organized by an NGO which is IHH. If this is the case then Turkey does not need an apology since it was not an official Turkish mission, maybe IHH can ask for it but not the president of Turkey. Unless the AKP government is backing the flotilla. So which is it? First let's settle this and then we can decide who can ask for an apology. As long as President Gul or PM Recep Bey aer asking for it, it only tells us that this government was supporting IHH on this mission which creates a totally different hostile situation on the side of Turkey. It is similar to an Israeli mission ot go to Famagusta Cyprus (Magosa) and try to give back the homes occupied by Turkey since 1974 to their Greek owners.
44. Israel does need to apologize
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv and DC   (09.24.10)
It needs to apologize to it's own citizens and to Turkey for not doing what any other country would have done to a blockade runner. Israel should have sunk the entire flotilla into the bottom of the sea. Acting with pity and trying to be gentle has only turned Israel into target. The US, the UK and any other country ever blockading an enemy port was never so kind. No one has ever called for an apology from those countries. Gul is a fool if he thinks Israel owes his country or his population an apology after that stunt. He is lucky he did not get fighter jets and a naval attack in response. Gul bases his request on the report from the Human Rights Council in the UN? This council has become a joke. Many of the representatives that form the council are from countries notorious for their poor human rights. This is why Ban Ki Moon has his own investigation going and why Israel is conducting its own investigation. If the culprits are making the rules then we're all in trouble.

47. #15 - Get your facts straight
Barry ,   Israel   (09.24.10)
Before you shoot your mouth of perhaps you should get your facts straight - Turkey is not the 8th largest economy - in fact it is the 17th and its GDP is (again) not 8 times that of Israel but infact is just 3 times!
48. what about usa
keenan ,   canada   (09.24.10)
are you guys willing to apologize from First Nations from who you stole the America and pay the compensation? what about 300.000 dead people in Iraq and many more in Afghanistan ?
49. Alternatve
John   (09.24.10)
How about the Turks apologize to the Kurds and Armenians and then withdraw its occupation of Cyprus and then we can talk about an apology fort the death of 8 violent activists that attempted to run a naval blockade. Sound fair?

$700 a month for parking?! It's a cold world. It was not cheap in Chicago either, but I can only shake my head at that sum.
51. To Greg Turkey's economy SHRANK Last year
The Dude   (09.24.10)
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/tu.html Rapidly growing, is that it's GDP growth rate for 2009 was -5.6%? While Israel's was only 0.2%, considering these troubling economic times, it's not bad. Also the actual GDP's. Turkey: $874.5 billion (2009 est.) Israel: $205.8 billion (2009 est.) For a country that can fit into one neighborhood of Istanbul, our economy ain't bad. And the US heavily dependent on Turkey's assistance for Afganistan? They only have 1,600 troops in the entirety of the country!! http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=antR6z3rnTPQ This is a drop in the bucket compared to even countries like the UK with smaller armies than Turkey with longer logistical hurdles. Turkey is good at giving a little and pretending to do a lot.
52. Give me a break....! Like two kids who havent grown up
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (09.24.10)
Easy. Turkey and Israel - How difficult is it to work up some sort of announcement acceptable to Turkey and Israel in some diplomatic speak that offends no one? Then we can all move on Turkey may want to develop trade with Iran and vice verca but FOR SURE the two Political Elites are not natural bedfellows and despite Ahmedinejads financial generosity to certain individuals in Turkeys Political Elite they mistrust each other TOTALLY and Turkeys Poitical Elite are not about to be bought and cajoled or indeed bullied as Ahmadinejad would hope. Turkey is NOT Hezbollah or Hamas And critically only a couple of weeks ago an RG General evidently expressed to a handpicked RG audience his growing anger and resentment at Turkeys more dominant role vis Iran in Mid East affairs Its looking more lilkely that the brief hot love affair is already cooling down as is Turkeys uncharacteristic recent rhetoric - to hopefully a moderating and influencing role vis Israel and Palestine PA that would command international respect and gratitude
53. #6 Greg, US
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.24.10)
If you like the Turkeys that much, then make them the 51st state of the USA (or just shut up). We don't this third world country in the EU.

Mark ,   USA   (09.24.10)
In internatial waters, downgraded their embassodor, I think since the Russian Jews imigrated to Israel they are damaging the Israel image with their fasist views, like the Clinton said, we have to get off our high horse and try to remember whom are the Jews who gifted the Jews with Israel l suggest you go read Khazar Empire, and see how deeply we are interlocked with Turks

58. Comments to all
Dr. David Mokono K O ,   Nairobi Kenya   (09.26.10)
All the comments reflect how wide we are divided. However, logically I do not see any sense in apology or compensation. All Turkey or any other country that wants to send any humanitarian aid to a war zone needs to do is to follow right procedures not to be mistaken to be fighters and therefore be harmed. I guess there were several humanitarian bodies in Gaza and they were not that affected by either side fighting. Let us try and face the truth in our comments.
59. Israel Never apologizes ! Sarah when are going to space ?
EMRE ,   ISTANBUL   (09.29.10)
Because they think it is a weakness. If they apologize they think all ME will attack them . The real weakness is not to accept the fault and underestimate the other citizens. Sarah you are a real racist and some stupids are welcoming you here. Because they are racist and arrogant people too. You think the most advanced nation is Israel ? Why are you not living on the moon or space ? When are you going to start Tourism with your Starwars Ships? Stop dreaming and come back to reality ...
