1. Another Lost Tribe!
Cameron ,   USA   (09.25.10)
Amazing times. You know, I kicked a stone over in the backyard just last week, and the next thing I knew I was surrounded by people claiming to be a Lost Tribe, and demanding to be taken to Israel to reinforce their sense of Judaism. The rabbi gave the thumbs up, and I'm booking a flight for the whole lot.
2. modern Jewish traditions
JO   (09.25.10)
of yet another "lost" tribe. This group's history is easy to trace and their Jewish traditions are not ancient. Also, people forget, many peoples have Jewish customs that are not essentially Jewish, but pertain to more universal customs of ancient peoples and groups, humankind. I think it is bad to encourage such a group in this idea, it will only cause static, and tragedy.

4. A pity that they are not Jews
Ralbam ,   S Diego, California   (09.25.10)
This is an example of ethnic fraud . This may well be a tribal group but it is certainly not a Jewish one. Their ID as Jews lacks documentation and is based on vague circumstantial hearsay. It is disgraceful that Shavei is promoting their aliyah, they belong in Israel no more than Eskimos.
5. Response to Ralbam #4
Nachshon ,   Israel   (09.26.10)
It is a shame that you do not see your own ignorance. Documentation means Jewish? Really? Well maybe when you leave CA and move to Israel, serve in the army and actually learn about Jewish culture and what makes someone Jewish, you can talk on the subject. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. As an Israeli, I welcome them! בהצלחה
6. 1#,2#,3# and 4#, American diaspora Jews
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (09.26.10)
I am not going to debate with you their true origons since you do not know and neither do I. Yet I will tell you that I know a B'nei Menashe family who lives in the Golan. They live a very orthodox Jewish lifestyle. They also went through an orthodox conversion process. There grandchildren will be Jews living in Israel whereas most of the American Jews including yours will have non-Jewish granchildren. I hope that all 7,000 Bnei Menashe Jews make aliya!

8. #4 worry about Chula Vista and not Israel.
Frank ,   Los Angeles   (09.26.10)
It is not your business!
9. I agree with RalBam.Where is the documentation?
Yosef ,   Boca Raton   (09.26.10)
What? They were kidnapped out of Israel well over 2000 years? We still want to see their mother's Ketubah... Are you sure? Wont you think that"NO they are not Jewish or members of the Yehuda Tribe definitely because they belong to Menashe. And no haw do you want them to have papers??? I will like to know what is your IQ seriously. I wonder how you can write but your brain does not seem to function. Or is it that their last name is it not Jewish??? And how could it when all Jewish last name with probably the exception of Cohen and Levi are an invention about 600 years old.
10. Do they have to be white
Omer BinZaghio ,   Knoxville TN USA   (09.26.10)
Do they need to be white with blue eyes to be Jews? or do they must be from Ukraine to be considered as lost tribe?
11. B'nai Menashe
Barbara ,   San Diego, CA   (09.26.10)
If people are willing to embrace Judaism, then we must encourage them and not discourage them. Look, we are disappearing at an alarming rate. Therefore, let's be Am Echad and live together as one. Am Yisrael Chai!
12. Bnei Menashe
Baruch ,   Israel   (09.27.10)
Genetic testing on them shows no Jewish (Middle Eastern-Israelite) ancestry. However, if they convert halachically and live real Jewish lives here in Israel, then they are Jews. Judah in the Golan Heights is right. These people will have Jewish descendants whereas most Jews outside of Israel will not.
13. Bring them to Israel already!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.27.10)
At least they are not like other "jews" with crosses tattooed on their foreheads or wearing crosses. They will not go to pray in mosques or churches like other new immigrants. Nor join "jews for jesus" or scientology.
14. Jason # 13
Nachshon ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
Are you serious? Do you know why Ethiopeans have crosses on their foreheads? THEY ARE JEWISH. Do your research. If you were going to go on about Russians - I could understand as they openly say theyre not Jewish. We need people. ISRAEL NEEDS PEOPLE to survive.... The religious have lost their authority. These people are Jewish - I cant wait to see come!
15. Rubbish, these mongols don't have the slightest resemblence
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.30.10)
