1. Headlines
Yanke ,   USA   (09.28.10)
were not dictated into the news by bibi. Don't blame him for a free press. Besides, Obama needs good news much more, which he does not receive so soon before elections in USA.
2. World reads the Headlines
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.28.10)
...Jews stealing more land, Arabs being refused a State, leading to Arab suffrage. Arabs will demand voting rights, and world will support them.
3. Question for #2 (Headlines)
Jan ,   Houston, Texas   (09.28.10)
#2....just curious....what do you mean by arabs being refused a state? LOL!!! The arabs have 22 countries already....we Jews have one. With all the atrocities being committed around the world by muslims (suicide bombs, honor killing of women, rapes, and on and on), tell me why you and others focus on where the Jewish people build homes in their OWN COUNTRY? Please explain this obsession with the Jewish people....
4. #3 We Palestinians have one homeland called Palestine!
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.28.10)
NO PEACE Will we be the next disaster headline :( HOPE NO....But with cowards like Netanyahu you can only expect the worst.
5. Only the US wanted the talks!
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (09.28.10)
"Nobody in Israel, in the Palestinian Authority, and certainly in the US has any interest in ending the direct talks". The article then explains how Abbas was dragged screaming into the talks. Abbas had been announcing how the PA would stop negotiating since the so called talks began, and Bibi continually said that the freeze would end. The talks had and have no possibilty of success because the problem is not land but religion and Israel is not about to declare itself an Islamic State. And let's not forget that Abbas can barely order a pizza and expect it to be delivered, and that Hamas is sitting in Gaza. Where do journalists that drone on and on about "peace talks" expect them to go?
6. What did Abbas give
Ehoop ,   UK   (09.28.10)
that entitles him to an extension of the construction moratorium in return?
7. Misleading headline
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.28.10)
Somfalvi repeats a common misconception by saying that the settlers voted for Netanyahu. No Israeli voted for Netanyahu: In Israel you vote for parties. Israelis voted for the Likud based on the Likud constitution and not for Netanyahu as some sort of Ra'is or dictator. Also, it was not "settlers" who voted for Likud, it was Israelis. If anything, most "settlers" who live in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria voted for Israel Beitenu, Shas, National Home and National Union. It comes down to Somfalvi being shocked that Netanyahu wants to be perceived as doing what his voters (and the majority of Israelis) wanted, rather than what his voters (and majority of Israelis) clearly rejected. What is amazing is that journalists expect that a Prime Minister do what he is supposed to, rather than lie, betray his voters and destroy democracy like Sharon, Olmert, Livni and Hanegbi.
8. Correction for Salma
Jan ,   Houston, Texas   (09.28.10)
The Jewish people have ONE HOMELAND....Israel. Also known as Zion or for a brief time, Palestine. Promised to the Jews by God, and recognized by most of the world. Israel, the Jewish homeland forever.
9. Wanna bet most Israelis support "peace talks" with P.A.?
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.29.10)
Somfalvi says, "Nobody in Israel has any interest in seeing the direct talks end". Wanna bet? The 'peace talks" with the P.A., direct or indirect, have never brought Israel anything but disaster. Massive casualties, huge increases in terror, dumb concessions leading to still more terror. But the worst thing about the "peace talks" is their goal. They are intended to tear away Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from Israel and trim our waist to just 8 miles. They are further intended to inundate Israel with rockets and hostile Arabs. I bet most Israelis want the "peace talks" with the P.A. to end forever.
10. More worthless kadima spin
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.29.10)
Somfalvi is less than worthless at analysis. He knows as well as anyone else that to extend the freeze would have cost Netanyahu his coalition. He had no support for such a measure not within the Likud and certainly not with Yisrael Beiteinu and Shas. But when you are on the Kadima payroll it just doesn't pay to be truthful.
11. Peace
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (09.29.10)
Is that Attilla the hun. Keep your eye on the ball! Watch Iran. That is the real existential threat! Better worry about living! Save the peace for another day.
