31. JEWS?????.....
milly   (09.28.10)
if they are jews, I am Queen Esther!!!!
32. Re #30
Harkavy ,   Japan   (09.28.10)
You neglect to mention that all three "sincere offers" were made under ridiculous terms to ensure they would be refused. But thanks for playing.
33. One more thing Awe Struck
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.28.10)
Many Palestinian Arabs from Gaza and WB get medical treatment in Israel (I understand that it is a very difficult thing to get that attention but it happens daily nonetheless) many Israelis extend their peaceful hand to Arabs constantly in an organized manner such as the famous orchestra leader Daniel Birnbaum who trains and performs with Arabs regularly. The Israeli Arabs - although they face many difficulties - they get the same medical care, the same education as Jewish Israelis. As You see Israelis are trying to be friends but it takes two to be friend and throwing stones or rockets from Gaza is not the way to make friends.
34. misguided fools
SA   (09.28.10)
What a bunch of idiots...trying to breach a blockade, playing with fire and saying they just want to deliver aid to Gaza and making such a scene of it. They know any goods they want to deliver to Gaza will be delivered via the proper means. Also you just know they had nine people as a symbol who died in the previous stupid flotilla, hoping that if they martyred themselves against the Israeli navy it would be a nice symbol.
35. The fallacy of "Palestinian" peace
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
Please, Salma. Tome and again you present us with poems and songs about life under occupation but you ignore how its of your own doing. Like a person who attacks his neighbors, is arrested for breaking the law, then cries on Leftist radio about his freedoms being violated (actual case here in the US). Since 1920, the Arabs have attacked Jews indiscriminately, stolen their holy places and land, and continue to demand Apartheid rules on them from the Intl community while demanding the same Intl community pay you "ransom" for peace. You had so many chances for peace, for a State, for equality, for an economy, and you shot each one down because of one condition - Israel's continued existence. Like a criminal who is released on parole, you commit the same crimes then cry foul when you receive the results. Only when I hear songs of co-existence and love of others coming from "Palestinians" will I even begin to believe you.
36. #28 - since 1990s? Then explain economic reports of Gaza
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
Leading up to 2000, Gaza had an extremely high standard of living including a fast growing economy. One that was the result of Jews and Arabs working together, not fighting. The major cause for Gaza's dismay is their economic situation brought on by the destruction of major money-making venues: advanced greenhouses, Erez industrial park, border crossings - all of which employ many Gazans, all of which were attacked, some destroyed. The other part of the equation is Gazans who worked inside Israel. Well, nothing kills an economic agreement than declaring war on the other party. Prior to 1994 when the PLO came back, Gaza was under Israel's control and Gazans could travel up to Haifa if they so choose. Not really the lack of "freedom of movement" you claim. A 2-State solution is actually well supported in Israel. An armed Hamas committing war crimes against both sides, is not. Cancel Hamas, and "Palestinians" will have what they want.
37. #29 - yet again, we see Turkey's hand in war crimes
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
This should be added to any report Israel is making on the previous flotilla. It's obvious that Turkey is giving the green light for attacks against Israel.
38. #28, Matty Groves..
Paul ,   USA   (09.28.10)
Thanks for you insightful comments. Yes, the aid ship is desperately needed. How else will the Gazans get the latest X box video games ? Oh, the inhumanity of it all ! Yes, availability of X box and Playstation 3 video games to all should be added to the United Nations declaration on human rights. And surely, those luxury shopping malls are running out of Armani clothing, as well. As for those basic food items, I hope that the aid ship was carrying a few cases of diet pills and Weight Watcher meals. The Gazans are the most fattest, starving people, that I have ever seen..
39. Confused Jews
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.28.10)
They should have been born Black, in America in the 1960's. As Jews they appear ridiculous. Confusing the Gaza blockade with a human rights issue is as mentally constricted as you can get, and put these foolish Jews exactly where the Arab Jihad of deception wants them.
40. #30, David Israel..
Paul ,   USA   (09.28.10)
41. David Israel, I agree! But..
awe struck ,   istanbul   (09.28.10)
A few other reminders to anyone interested: Israel was the first country to send rescue teams to the Turkey earthquake and save many many lives.. (and Haiti) One fifth of Israel population is Arab which says a lot in itself.. This is non existent in any other Arab country or non arab country. Israel"s contribution to medicine and science is unprecedented. This quality alone makes a country great in the face of humanity. However, examples like these are why I criticize Israel policies. That you have the values ,both intellectual and spiritual plus immense technological power. You dont have to go down to the level or be always an eye to eye with your enemies but hopefully try to address the problems in a more diplomatic, tactical and compassionate way, knowing better. We don't expect, Sudan, Iran or Hamas act with humanity but we do from Israel, even in dire situations. You have every right to exist, and the way you want to exist but Israel is already the land of Israelis for every fair minded person on this planet. Nothing can compensate the thousands of Israeli civilians dead in this never ending conflict but I just think we have to find a better way to solve these (without being naive) Hope I make sense. . All the best from awe struck/
42. Harmonicas
Ron ,   OC, USA   (09.28.10)
Hamas wants harmonicas. This boat should have landed in Gaza. I have a feeling that the boat load of Jews (all 9 of them) would have been in Gaza for a very long time singing songs and playing their harmonicas.
43. Oopss . , I'll try again ! #30, David Israel..
Paul ,   USA   (09.28.10)
It seems like it's necessary to give history lessons to a lot of people, while making a point. Even recent history. They should already know these things.
44. It's Selfish...
Oren Katz ,   Canada   (09.28.10)
to take dramatic steps to clear your own conscience at the expense of that of others. They "slept like babies" because their "conscience was clear"... that's interesting, but who asked? You have to ask was this is really about... seems to be about them.
45. oh dear Matty Groves (#28)
Oren ,   Toronto   (09.28.10)
You don't seem to know much about Jews, Palestinians, or Israel. You don't seem to know much about Hamas either. You take is little story about Jews (mostly Israelis) sailing a catamaran to Gaza and use it as a pretext for giving a short history lesson ("History for Dummies"). You're are the perfect audience for today's media: short of memory and ready to embrace any simple explanation, so that every story can describe a whole history in a vacuum. It's almost sad.
46. Harkavy from japan - Chotto Shitsurei Shimasu
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.28.10)
Let me explain the terms of the ridiculous terms to you: In Camp David Israel agreed to a Palestinian Arab state to be created on 100% Gaza, 96 % WB plus Israeli land swap for the 4%, Capital in East Jerusalem, about 150 thousand refugees to return to Israel the others to the newly created Palestinian state. There were some terms about controlling the air space and the border between Jordan and Egypt which at tat time sounded objectionable but considering the hams tunnels and capability of getting arms through them now we understand why Israel insisted on it. If Arabs refused these terms let tell you this much: Israel will not commit suicide. It will only agree to a peace that will ensure its security and long term existence. Tomodachi, oyasumi nasai.
47. If this happened here in the UK these people would be jailed
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (09.28.10)
they are enemies of the state and ought to be treated as that. Besides what kind of 'Jews' are these that blame Israel for cruelty in Gaza caused by hamas terrorism?? It beggars belief. Well done I.D.F.
48. #41 You make some sense but not realistic
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.28.10)
You say: We don't expect, Sudan, Iran or Hamas act with humanity but we do from Israel, even in dire situations But Hamas is the enemy that is constantly hitting Israel. Let me remind you once again that Israel did not attack Gaza for no reason. Israel was under daily rocket attacks from Hamas for a long time. Dorit Benisian and Yuval Abebeh are just two little children among many others killed by these rockets. Just like Turkey fights PKK with F16s and drones provided by Israel, Israel also had to fight Hamas to stop these rockets from killing and maiming its citizens. You also say that: Israel is already the land of Israelis for every fair minded person on this planet. So is it so difficult to officially recognize it as the only state for the Jewish nation? is it so difficult to make peace on the basis of - two states for two people - (Which was recently rejected by the Arab negotiator in NY). You see my Turkish arkadas, there has been a lot of propaganda and lies about Israel especially in Turkey. The fact is that Arabs don't really want to make peace with isarel. Tehy want to gain time and wait until that opportunity to take it all. This is why Arafat turned down Clinton's proposition. This is what Hamas is saying when they talk about a 10 year Hudna, this is why Abbas and his team will not sign on to a document that will mention 'two states for two people'.
49. :: William - #36
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (09.28.10)
According to what sources? “Economic output in the Gaza Strip [...] declined perhaps one-third between 1992 and 1996” Source: CIA World Factbook. The Gazans had little choice in the matter as they lived under Israeli occupation with illegal Israeli settlements on their land. No actually the decline in the Gaza economy was due to Israeli control over the Gaza imports/exports. “The downturn was largely the result of Israeli closure policies” Source: CIA World Factbook. “The West Bank and Gaza (WBG)’s growth is heavily reliant on trade with Israel and the free movement of goods and people within the territories” Source: IMF All Israel had to do was impose import/export restriction on Gaza and cut off all trade with Israel and the Gaza economy collapsed like a deck of cards. Having access to “major money-making venues” is pretty useless if you can’t export your goods! And when did the PA ‘declare war on Israel’ during the 1990’s when Israel started to impose restrictions which started the Gaza economy to falter? One example: “Since 2000, Israel has imposed a comprehensive ban on Gaza students who want to study in the West Bank, which has been upheld by the High Court. Even before instituting the formal prohibition, by the 1990s Israel had already imposed various restrictions on travel [from Gaza]” - Source: Amira Hass, Haaretz William nothing you have said or claimed rings true when one looks at the facts.
50. well done
marko ,   tel aviv   (09.28.10)
well done to the protesters this shows to the world that not all of us think that the Gaza siege is right,it shows that some of us do care about the people of Gaza .This also shows some of us dont believe that might is right
51. Open a small Window and Inspect Ships
Dav L:ev ,   Burbank.CAUSA   (09.28.10)
First, take away the PR publicity that some activists are Jewish. I would be harder on these scum bags. Its likes someone arrested on a DUI who kills 3 people in a car crash. He says it want intentional, thus manslaughter. The jury decides 2nd degree murder (life), caus he knew the possible consequences and had a felony conviction before. The Jews know they are being used to show some Jews are good Jews (where have I heard that before). .Send the others home, but keep the Jews in Sderot get it. Last I heard, Gaza has a border with Egypt, typically Mubarka is playing both sides well. Or, open a window for ships directly into Gaza after being inspected by Israel.
52. Barenboim,like Other Jews, Has it Backwards
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CaUSA   (09.28.10)
Daniel Barenboim is great pianist and condictor/ Sp great. gets rounds of applause from his German audiences (Berlin)/ His passion is Wagner the ring cycle..which he likes to thrust on haless Israeli Jews. Why he prefers Wagner over Mozart or Beethovan is puzzling? Why he wants Jewish and Arab youth to play together, is a waste of time.Better he counsels the Arab world to accept Israel and its Jewisness..the music will come afterwards. Play Leonard Bernstein, not Wagner..who as as antisemitic as Hiterl,Goering and Himmler.
53. @Salma
Jewish Warrior ,   Israel/US   (09.28.10)
Where is "Palestine". I looked all over the world map but I can't find it. There is only Jewish land in the place called the "Occupied Territories" currently inhabited by inveders from Arabia, and then there is Israel. I also cracked open Encyclopedias, but there is no hint that the "Palestinian people" exist as a seperate people, but are just Arab immigrants enroaching on Jewish land. Go back to Arabia and take your Islam with you. You have 22 countries, leave the one Jewish country where archaeology, history, and genetics have proved it to be the Jewish homeland.
54. "Not all the farm is nana....
milliy   (09.28.10)
you will find some weeds". they are not JEWS!! ( PERIOD )
55. racist israil will not attack jewish boat
beaceful Muslem   (09.28.10)
but will attack beaceful Muslem travellers. Now where is human rights???
56. "Matty Groves" and continued distortion and
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (09.28.10)
omission of "facts": Greenhouses all destroyed by Hamas after Israeli withdrawal and the platforms used as launching pads for mortars and rockets. Sewage lines dug up and steel tubing used for attack weapons by Hamas operatives. Steel tubes formerly supplied by Israel: Result: Increased attacks on Israeli citizens as well as massive pollution and detritus strewn landscape in Gaza.
57. #55 beacful Muslem..
Paul ,   USA   (09.28.10)
The occupants of this kool "aid " ship, are not armed with anything, other than stupidity. Nor are they chanting " Remember Khybar O Jews ! Mohammad's army shall return ". They are just a bunch of misguided left wing activists.
58. #32 - Is existence in security considered "ridiculous"?
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
Please explain what these "ridiculous conditions" were that caused the Arabs so much pain? In 1947, it was a simple partition - half and half. In 1967, it was the 1967 lines, the same "Palestinians" demand in full today. In 2000, it was a land swap plus coordinated security details to ensure this Arab State didn't continue on the path of terrorism against Israel. Apparently, you live in your own bubble. Each time the Arabs refused agreements it was never based on "ridiculous conditions" as you claim. It was, in their own words, because Israel would continue to exist and that could not be accepted. It was Israel that gave the 3 NOs of Khartoum, it was the ARAB LEAGUE! and in the past, no amount of land Israel withdrew from or concessions given ever changed their minds or their goals (refer to Hamas Charter). If ensuring Israel's security from the genocidal goals of our enemies is considered "ridiculous" than I have no reservations in Israel walking away from peace talks.
59. #41 - but "fair minded persons" do not lead flotillas
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
or liberal media attacks or send money to support war criminal terrorists groups. Perhaps you are correct in saying that "fair-minded persons" already agree to Israel's right to exist as it is, but it's the non-fair-minded individuals who are doing the greatest harm AND using terror to kill civilians. If Israel were to continue to be diplomatic and compassionate while our enemies use asymmetrical means to target pregnant women and celebrate as they dip their hands in the blood of their victims, I'm afraid the battle will quickly be lost. We see this already as NATO fights in iraq and Afghanistan.
60. @ David Israel
awe struck ,   istanbul   (09.28.10)
Do you really think I am the type that buys any kind of propaganda? I am reading ynet to get the full picture for Gods sake..Saying that, I understand you totally when you refer to Hamas, or Arafat and the likes of them,. I also know that the rockets from Gaza started the moment you pulled out from there for good. I also remember many Israeli's being forced out of their homes by their own soldiers to retreat the land to Gazans. But, there is not one respectful state which does not accept the state of Israel. (I wont brag that we were one of the first to recognize it, i am sure you know this already) Believe me or not I am not a peace mongering pollyanna and I am not suggesting that you should turn your cheek for another slap on your face. I am, both as a human being, and a friend of Israel, trying to find a way to end this mess.( as if anyone is asking me to:))) You may wonder why I care though? Well, there are many people who I love in Israel and I care deeply for their future and safety. Also being from the same troubled region and facing similar contradictions in my own homeland, I know what happens there will mean something here and vice versa of course. So just trying to make a difference in my own way. Thank you for your replies.
