1. This is strange as strange go.
confused (09.28.10)
Without getting into the details of his plans, does he speak out of his own mind or as the FM of Israel? If those are his personal wishes, than the UN is not the platform. If it is as FM of Israel then there is major disconnect between him and the PM. What is it then the policy of the state of Israel?
2. They must have choked at the UN
Terry , Eilat - Israel (09.28.10)
Lieberman is about the only Israeli politician who doesn't repeat stupid platitudes. His realism & lack of political correctness is refreshing, to say the least.
3. How Refreshing!
Mike , SD (09.28.10)
How refreshing the truth is. It is naive to think that this generation of PA Arabs, after years and years of anti-Israel/Jewish brainwashing, will be able to recognize and make peace with their Jewish neighbors. And finally someone challenges the myth that the Israel-PA conflict is the root of the world's problems. Thank you FM Lieberman! You are NOT an extremist but a realist!
4. One of the Few Who Makes Sense
sean , jerusalem (09.28.10)
Everything Lieberman said is obvious and irrefutable. He is one of the few who talks sense.
5. Finally some honest talk
Michel , Montreal, Canada (09.28.10)
Wow, a politician who actually speaks like a normal everyday person. It is refreshing to hear from someone who has the guts to point out the obvious, without sugar-coating it. Someone pragmatic like him is needed to work out an interim agreement with the palestinians, especially when dealing with hamas (which eventually will have to happen).
6. #1
Joe , Toronto Canada (09.28.10)
I don't read any confusion in this message with that of the PM's. The only difference is that Lieberman is more blunt in delivering his message. Nevertheless, he's right on - you can't expect to have a true peace in just months with an enemy of nearly 90 years. (1920's)
7. He is right about one thing
Zev , Israel (09.28.10)
There will be no peace with the Palestinians. They are not interested in peace , only in how much land they can grab in the first stage and then in the second stage try to destroy Israel.
8. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............................
jonathan , London, UK (09.28.10)
9. Arcane bigotry and racism writ large
Ussishkin , Tel Aviv Israel (09.28.10)
Once upon a time over 100 years ago, nations blithely transferred populations as if it was their right as Empires to treat their subjects like chattels. Amongst those populations were 1000s of Jews. Later some of those Empires crumbled and in the aftermath were involved in the wholesale murder of more Jews. Now we have a man, who few nations will greet as our foreign minister, not only pandering to the growing red neck fraternity of our sad nation, but trampling all over both the promises we made to the Arabs in our declaration of independence and what is left of our claims to be a democracy. We are allowing this man and his views to persist in tarnishing us in just the way that the late and not lamented Rabbi Kahane once did. He shames us, as Israelis, as Jews, as people.
10. The only one who speaks the truth
Carl (09.28.10)
He is the only Israeli leader who says what most of the population is thinking.
11. I respect Lieberman's frank talking
Avi , Geneva (09.28.10)
but I disagree with his idea of exchanging territory - the land is all ours, why give any of it away? The Arabs have plenty of lebensraum beyond Israel's borders. The Jews need all the little land they have.
12. Lieberman : The consummate politician
Steve Benassi , Silver Bay, MN USA (09.28.10)
If only our president had his qualities. Alas, he's only half the man Avigdor is.
13. he is
(09.28.10)
liar and idiot the last job to him is the fm only if it is mean fisrman
14. Yevete's folly - remove Yehudim yet send them back?
Kerwood Derby , Frostbite Falls (09.28.10)
How does that remove the threat? Shouldn't it be that the land sewn with the blood that he would desecrate be lived on by those who it is named for and that those that come to kill Yehudim, be they Kais and/or Yeminis should have their right of return enforced back to the peninsular homeland of their own name? And shouldn't that apply to the exiled Hashimi tyrannt from the Hedjaz too? Such thoughts from someone supposedly on the right is so wrong. And he is not alone. Hotovelly with her Daniel Pipes dream of re-education over 50 years of mad asses of men while her peoples's blood continues to be sewn in the land of their forefathers and of their own name. Danny Danon and his vision of the neo-parao controlling Azza and the exiled Hasheimi tyrannt from the Hedjaz controlling Yosh. And then you have Arens, Landau, Ayalon, Aumann, Bernard LEwish calling for the extortion to be paid so they can what? As if they are eretz Yisroel century 21 real estate brokers, offering that which belongs to all Yehudim past, present and future, just seeking a piece of the action that only results in the decimaiton of the lives of Yehudim and not peace with the mass-murdering extortionists. Remove the threat!!!!!!!!!
15. I rarely like a politician as much as I just liked this guy.
(09.28.10)
16. where's his unedited speech? i want to read it.

17. To 1
tFighterPilot (09.28.10)
Lieberman is not a diplomat, he's the head of the third largest party in the Knesset. His opinion carries weight no less than Netanyahu's.
18. 17- he is not a diplomat??
steve (09.28.10)
he is supposedly the diplomat number 1 of israel. if he is not a diplomat what is he doing as FM?
19. good idea
Daniel B.Y. , Lima, PerĂº (09.28.10)
great idea. what's the problem with that. nobody is talking about people transfer to west bank or gaza, just redrawing the boundaries. the arab israelis see themselves as proud palestinians, no? so what is the problem. They don't feel any kind of conection with the israeli flag or israeli anthem. They proudly wave the palestinian flag in their towns. why they will be upset with this territorial exchange? They will continue living in their houses and They will be free to waving their palestinian flags with proud... Israel can't have within its territory people who consider israeli heroes (members of IDF) as terrorist, and people who consider heroes those who killed israeli civil population..... I personally support two state solution. Israel and palestine living together in peace. but if Israel can ensure a jewish majority without expelling palestinians out their homes, what is the problem???
20. He is being realistic. There is nothing wrong with that, is
Eva (09.28.10)
there?
21. What a moron
Michael Steiner , Bahrain (09.28.10)
Reconciliation and normalization of mutual relations comes AFTER reaching an agreement. That much should be obvious even to a thick uber-fool like Lieberman. Does he seriously expect Palestinians to start liking Israelis when they are under seemingly indefinite occupation? Are Israelis supposed to forge camaraderie with Palestinians, never knowing when the latter might pull out a knife or lob a qasam at a kindergarten. What a dumbass. And he is the face Israel presents to the world. *shudder*
22. I WISH BIBI WOULD RETIRE
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE , SAFED ISRAEL (09.28.10)
Lieberman would be a much better leader.
23. GO Lieberman !
Jennie , US/Israel (09.28.10)
WOW ! No one ever before dared to violate the acceptable diplomatic language, (a/k/a/-lies) publicly in the world, let alone in UN. But He Did it ! Everything Lieberman said was music to my ears ! So simple, so true and so refreshingly appropriate ! Sooo Long Overdue...!! The last time I heard such a speach, it was Begin about 35 years ago, leading our people to defend our tiny sliver of land against all the arab countries attacked at once .I don't expect the so-called friends and mediators of israel to get over themselves just yet, and the palis to put a full stop to their real agenda towards Israel... But this is a very good start... Avigdor Lieberman is my Hero !
24. he is right
zionist forever (09.28.10)
Whilst you can create an arab state with a political treaty you can't make peace with the stroke of a pen. Its to late now but although oslo was the wrong strategy in general if we were going to have a oslo type deal then is should not have been based on deadlines & concessions. We should have started off saying we agree in principle to the idea of an arab state but we are not giving you anything right now we need some time for trust building. As more trust builds the more concessions BOTH of us make. There would be times when it all broke down but we would be starting up again in time from a similar position even if things were stalled whilst further trust building measures took place. It would be for the palestinians to decide what they get and how long it takes. A plan based on trust building also encourages more realistic thinking and palestinians would eventually start to accept they are not going to get everything they demand. Oslo has been based on a series of deadlines from day 1 and the main reason we didn't have a system based on trust building was Clintons desire to have a deal reached on his watch that meant deadlines not time for trust building. Obama might force us to create an arab state before the 2012 election fo he can have his legacy but its very unlikely we will have peace by 2012. The palestinians themselves are not united on their demands so whilst one group may say we have a state lets call it quits and make peace others will say Israel is part of Palestine and it must be liberated and so the war will go on. Time for the peace camp to accept the reality that peace treaties don't bring peace otherwise they are going to get a nasty shock when we sign those treaties and we don't get the peace they fantasised about for so long.
25. this one too ....will pass
US , US/Pal (09.28.10)
not a crak in the wall ,this is a full blown sinking here is the proof ,. the PM of your entity said that the FM doesn't reflect the israeli position .... can anyone try to explain this in chineese to me how a FM doesn't represent his country .. .. you want a better one .. here it is ... he (you so called PM ) did not approved the contents of the FM speach ...lol a third one ..here you go today's encore Piracy in the Mediterranian sea .. the solution .. will send all the gays in the world to the Gay capital of the world ,TA.
26. Kern County can Take In Millions of Pales
Dav Lev , Burbank. CAUsa (09.28.10)
We Jews are known for our frankness and directness, especiallhy from NYC I have visited NY (from Cal) and am amazed at the respect given to NYJews, ifnot always liking. We in LaLa land are always in cars and timid. Avi walks the walk and talks the talk.He is refreshing to a fault..unlike Livni, who constantly undermines your govt ( hear latest call bo Bibi threatending ending any support).Im sure the Pales love her honesty. Divide and you know what. Israel offered part of the Negev for a slice of the W.Bk....so why not parts ofthe Galilee to the Pales state? Or in Kern County,Ca. a huge parcel remains undeveloped. It has thousand of acres. ready for growth..and only 13000 residents. The Pales would love it..its desert climate familar..and not from from thePacific Ocean, Hollywood, San Deigo, Long Beach, and Bev Hills, where they can meet their Iranian cousins. Think abou it to solve the refugee problem. It could hold millions of refugess..and no needfor Kassams.
27. No, just like the minister of defense isn't a general
tFighterPilot (09.28.10)
The FM's job is to decide the foreign policy.
28. FM
Isaac , USA (09.28.10)
Not only FM, he also should be PM.

If Liberman just understood a little more about diplomacy he would be respected I think. He is an opposite of Obama. Obama is an expert at diplomatic language but his big plans more often than not are not the right ones - economic, defense, Middle East he doesn't get it. Liberman is a diplomatic bafoon and at times he is to outspoken and says the wrong thing at the wrong time but his thinking is logical its just people don't like to hear the things he says when its not politically correct.
30. 21 he is speaking about peace in full sense
ygalg , israel (09.28.10)
