1. If you don't want to be politically correct...
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (09.29.10)
...all you have to do is to speak the truth.
2. We didn't vote for Peace Now.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.29.10)
The Israeli electorate THOUGHT they were voting for a right-wing gov't. but were fooled again. What Lieberman is saying is accurate, Barak is dragging policy left, something the electorate SPECIFICALLY REJECTED, and rejected big time. What does this say about our so-called democracy?
3. 2
zionist forever   (09.29.10)
This is why Bibi can't let the religious and nationalists walk away and replace them with Kadima as his coalition partner. Likud would become the junior partner in a left wing government where Barak & Livni will cooperate to kill any right wing bills. Bibi needs to keep the settlement program alive but discreetly otherwise its going to either mean a new election which he has no guarantee of winning or becoming a junior partner in a left wing government. Bibis future is now going to be decided by Abbas & Obama. Up until recently they were cooperating to try bring down Bibis government but evenetaully decided that wouldn't work. Now Bibi is stuck between an election or left wing government and if they play hardball and are uncompromising then they may be able to bring him down and Obama will help Livni behind the scenes in a new election. Obama doesn't believe in democracy when it comes to Israel.
4. Of course Barak is a Leftist.
Israeli 2   (09.29.10)
That supposed to be of no surprise to anyone...especially not to Bibi N. who has nothing to do with what he coins as extreme rightist like Feiglin. But he embraces Barak and Tzipi Livni. I doubt whether that is smart politics at all.
5. Barak is Israel's nemesis
Avi ,   Geneva   (09.29.10)
this one man has done Israel more bad in the last three decades than hordes of Arab terrorists.
6. if anyone needs to go....
jonathan ,   London/ Israel   (09.29.10)
it's this bulldog Lieberman! The fact that he is putting his foot in the middle of any attempt to resolve Israels crisis situation is secondary to his criminal erosion of the fabric of Israeli society. It is painful to read in these columns how many people support his perspectives. He is infecting minds of impressionable Israelis whose pain, anger and frustration offers fertile territory for his uncompromising, extreme and racist dogma. It is spreading like a killer virus. He must be removed before irreparable damage is caused. Next on the list to be dealt with should then be Shas. Let's see some real action from Bibi!
7. I don't believe
Alexandre Chinovich   (09.29.10)
I am sure PM's office has lied: Prime Minister either knew the content of L's speech or gave him carte blanche. As it usually occurs, the negative part of L's thesis is much more convincing than its positive one. The idea of exchanging territories is absurdous: we will give up what we have de jure for what we have de facto. Also it may bring to the division of Jerusalem. As to Barak, Braverman et al., they must rename their party. The most suitable name is 'The Liquidators' Club'.
8. #2 THERE IS NO DEMOCRACY HERE
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.29.10)
Israel is ruled by a self-serving mafia who serve foreign powers and are intent on dividing G-ds' land.
9. I kind of like this pesky Russian guy. He mixes in some . .
Ken Quinn ,   Amsterdam   (09.29.10)
I kind of like this pesky Russian guy. He stirs in some truth along with the usual mix of middle east peace bull . . .
10. #3 Zionist forever. Be realistic.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.29.10)
Our politicians are like used car salesmen. Everything they say is total BS, these are very, very selfish, unprincipled scumbags. These slime ball's only merchandise is BS, their only interest is self-interest. The interests of the country & the wishes of the electorate come in at last place, if they come into it at all. They squabble & maneouver with very little thought as to consequences to the country. This goes for the whole lot of them, the Left, the Right, the Religious. While you might agree with some statement from Lieberman, at the same time, you have to realize that this is a political manouver. The media loves this crap even as they distort the narrative, it's just merchandise. As it happens, Kadima already refused to join the coalition. You can't possibly believe this is because they think this is in the country's best interest. Nothing could be further from the truth. Netanyahu is no different, he's just another hack politician driven by personal ambition & interest.
11. #8 Larry in Safed.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.29.10)
It has nothing to do with G-d. This is about money & power. Ask yourself, objectively, who governs Israel? That's the real question & the answer is not necessarily the gov't. Money governs Israel. The ''official'' gov't. is just a facade, a sham.
12. #4 Israeli 2. Barak is a Leftist?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.29.10)
He's a very RICH Leftist. Aside from a few wackos who really believe this Leftist BS, most Leftists are into money, not ideology. The source of that money is the State, in other words, a way of putting their hand in YOUR wallet.
13. Lieberman : maligned for telling truth.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (09.29.10)
Left does'nt want to hear truth.
14. BARAK, NETANYAHU, LIBERMAN ARE ALL WILY CROOKS !
SINGER ,   SINGAPORE   (09.29.10)
15. logical and fair
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (09.29.10)
which is why everyone will disparage mr. lieberman's policies. there has to be a shift in populations and or territory, otherwise a two state "solution", with one state near 100% mohammedan and another about 20% mohammedan, will eventually destroy israel. this is what they want actually. so well done mr. lieberman for offering a logical fair and true solution, which as it would assure israel's future as a jewish state will be variously abused and denigrated. perhaps that's what he wants too?
16. #14 Wily enough to outsmart you guys.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (09.29.10)
17. Palestinian refugees is a topic coming up
USA   (09.29.10)
The speeches give very personal beliefs to an audience. There still are people harboring resentments for different kinds of reasons. Palestinian refugees are an issue. President Abbas made his speech as did President Suleiman of Lebanon to the UN General Assembly specifically mentioning Palestinian refugees. Aside from asking what's plausible, this is a subject that needs to be heard so that people can understand as much as possible. Negotiations are going on between Israelis and Palestinians, hopefully they will go on because this needs to be settled. They cross the border and Lebanon is involved too now. There were a certain amount of Palestinians that chose to leave around 1948 after being prompted to for their safety by other Palestinians who claimed that those leaving would be allowed to return after the Jews were defeated. President Suleiman says he wants all the refugees out of Lebanon and it had been reported that the Arab League Peace Initiative had mentioned a reasonable number of refugees. Also, it's worth mentioning being able to fall into a system that can be integrated into. Is there a number of Palestinian refugees that are being considered? Or, is this something that needs a little more time to study? In 1948, Jews had to get through Palestinian fighters to get life saving supplies to Jews being held up in Jerusalem. Eventhough they were succesful and managed, there were those who lost their lives defending a just cause, that is still humanity. Things haven't been as beautiful as Holy Scriptures would have intended them to be but it's always something still worth working/fighting for.
18. #17 Refugees?????
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (09.29.10)
After 63 years how do you call squatters Refugees? They are now citizens of Lebanon and should remain there.
19. Terry
IZL   (09.29.10)
There were two men who were principled, uncorrupt, and did not allow themselves to be owned by $$$. Begin and Shamir. We all know the rest were, and are still corrupt. It's really sad Likud got inherited by a bunch of spoiled fops, but such is the fate, I suppose.
20. Barak UnJewish
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.29.10)
He has no concept of true Jewish ideals and values. Does he keep any of our sacred Commandments? What do you want from him? He knows nothing of Torah.
21. To@3 >> To cut a long story short zionist forever is:
JAMES ,   ISRAEL   (09.29.10)
No more coalitions with Kadima. Get rid of Barak as soon as possible for otherwise BHO will win, the day if Kadima is either replaced in leu of BB's Govt' and we go back to square ONE same as when Olmert was in charge. Of course the opposition is criticising Lieberman through the speech he made that said it all ,and they do not like to accept his notion the truth emanating from the FM. As Terry says:We did not vote for: Peace Now! The public have chosen Netanyahu NOT! BHO and his clique What we need now is for BB to stop trying the appeasement policy toward the Americans and more GUMPTION without any double speak. Reading the article I am sorry to say I read NO reciprocal condemnation by him toward the ones who are trying to demonize Lieberman. He(BB)better acquire some cojones rather than act as eunuch.
22. To the nameless responder from the US>
JAMES ,   ISRAEL   (09.29.10)
A load of hog wash and inaccurate and wiley misconception in 1948. Since the aforementioned people were called NOT palestinians, but just Arabs is for you to accept or stop your unwarranted airy, fairy stories. You are here addressing not fools, but knowledgeable people who have lived-experienced the historical narrative unlike your dismal interpretations. Incidently those who FLED (not as you suppose) in your whimsical and stupid way, makes one think you are one of their lot. Therefore it would behoove you to PRINT your name not hiding it behind the NONE moniker USA! Those Arabs(yes just that arabs) FLED nascent Israel at the BEHEST of their Arab brethren methinks you are not only confused, but ignorant of the FACTS. And NO! there was no such promise as you suppose for the right of return as you wrongly assume. You are trying to muddy the waters in your spurious and misinterpretion of the WHOLE scenario. Back to the studies you go mister whoever you are. I can assure you there will never be any acceptance of RoR ,nor on Jewish Jerusam Frankly I don't know why I am even bothering to respond to such a responder who's post is just a FALSE propaganda that no one will give credence to. What is more you just made a fool of yourself
23. lieberman for PM
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (09.29.10)
Time to fire Ehud Barak and the Labor party and make Lieberman PM http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
24. Barak is clueless about his public...Avigdor is way ahead
Jordasche ,   New England   (09.29.10)
of barak as someone I would be proud of. He actually has a spine and common sense, 2 things israeli leftitsts lack
25. To Ralph Levy A Personal question>>
KATE ,   ISEAEL   (09.29.10)
Knowing how you feel about Israel and its survival how come that so many Jews including your good self do not make Aliyah? If you don't mind my asking that is. As I read here and on the other forum today writen with passion by Steve Klein ,plus the Dr.L Brnd as an example although you are among the srael loving Jews in the sea of liberal odd ones who don't really give a damn, marry out and the rest. Methinks the diaspora Jews could COME HOME and turn the country around rather than doing it in talkbacks.I have often wondered with the exception of some who have families and great attachement TO OUR COUNTRY ISRAEL Can you inform me why?
26. to #17 Also James, I think he's most likely a Jew :*(
Alexander ,   NJ, USA   (09.29.10)
Jame's I don't think that at this point it matters what they are called. I don't think if you name your problem something else it will change things. Palestinian refugee's are the direct result of Arab aggression against Israel and are the responsibility of the Arab nations that currently have been hosting them since they lost in 1948 and the consecutive wars that followed. Whatever steps Israel takes to help alleviate the Arab's problems would be out of kindness and good will not a sense of responsibility or obligation. #17 don't be such a hypocrite when your touching on the refugee issue because you fail to mention the Jewish refugee problem. When will the Muslim/Arab nations acknowledge the human rights violations committed against them and when will they receive their private property, businesses, and belongings back? (private property that amounts to about 4x the size of Israel in the Arab world.)
27. Correction: REALITY is drawing this govt to center
