31. Lieberman
Jack ,   Montreal   (09.29.10)
He is the first politician that calls it as it is. I agree with what he said and my belief is that the majority of Jewish Israelis agree with him. I challenge you to prove him wrong. Finally a breath of fresh air.
32. Hitler at his time was also percived
Sam   (09.29.10)
as having balls and telling it as is. This guy is an streme lunatik, i doubt he will recive more than 6 mandats in the next elections despite all the talkbacks here.
33. Time to Fire Ron Ben-Yishai
Jameel ,   The Muqata   (09.29.10)
Its unfortunate that Ynet and Ron Ben-Yishai believe they know better than Israel's democratically elected officials who represent a much larger segment of the population than the ever shrinking readership of ynet.
34. Lieberman is needed, to widen the political spectrum
Eitan ,   Chicago   (09.29.10)
Unless people like Lieberman are allowed to represent Israel on the world stage, the "world community" will become convinced that most Israelis seek a judenrein Judea & Samaria. The political spectrum needs to be wider, otherwise at some point, the very concept of a Jewish homeland will be labeled "ultra-extremist." Don't be ashamed of an Israeli who speaks like a real Israeli - candid, occasionally vulgar, and truthful.
35. RON: YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
carlos ,   San Diego U.S.A.   (09.29.10)
36. Lieberman is what Israel needs
Richard ,   Boca Raton, USA   (09.29.10)
Lieberman has my vote for PM. I doubt if we'd see one rocket from Gaza if he were PM, because the Muslims know that he would respond appropriately. The EU and the UN would piss in their pants if Lieberman were in charge of Israel's security. Lieberman may even start a Tea Party in Israel to get rid of the girly-men who are afraid to call the Muslims what they are which, for YNets education, is the same as Muslims all over the planet. THEY WANT TO CONTROL EVERYTHING WITH SHARIA.
37. Lame Ron, outdated...
Israel today   (09.29.10)
38. Don't fire Lieberman, Let the World have a good look
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.29.10)
Let the World see what racists the Israelis are; He does more for the Palestinian cause that any rocket. Let the world see what Obama is up against .
39. Exactly the opposite,
Aviva ,   TLV   (09.29.10)
Lieberman clearly showed that he is the righteous man which will stubbornly defend Israel best interest ...as he should.
40. You should read Hayim Misgav's article in Hebrew
M   (09.29.10)
Now, this is an intelligent thinking person, not prone to spouting PC platitudes and clishees.
41. Nothing new in that proposal
Gene ,   USA   (09.29.10)
Historically many countries did the same thing. One of the most vivid examples is the American purchase of Alaska from Russia. Nobody asked residents of that territory if they want to change their nationality. Money paid and deal is done and nobody calls Mr. Seward a fascist - surprise, surprise. Or take for example Alsace which was transfered between France and Germany many times in the last 100 years. Only Israel is an ugly duck.
42. How wrong you are (Ron)
AlexB ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.29.10)
You make it sound like Liberman and his party (a few hundred people?) are the only ones in Israel with this "political doctrine". First of all, most Israelis believe what he's said. Specifically, that it's highly unlikely to be able to make peace with the current generation of palestinians. If you don't think it's "most Israelis", then at least you'd agree that there's a sizable chunk of Israel's populace that agree with him. He's the 2nd largest coalition partner so he represents more than himself and his party's views. Thing is, while he is the only one with the beitsim to say it in an international forum, (also because he doesn't have the responsibility a PM has), everyone in the current coalition believe the same thing, only they won't say it out loud. He isn't an extremist, and he isn't presenting strange unpopular opinions. Deal with it.
43. Fire Him?....For Telling The Truth
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.29.10)
Because that is what most Israelis want to do. Expel the Palestinians from their homeland. Yes ethnic cleansing on a grand scale. The only thing this man is guilty of is speaking out loud what most of you think and say in private. I'm glad he said what he said. He is living proof of Israel's unwavering move to the dark side of human nature. And to say it in front of the assembled UN ... ... I couldn't ask for more.
44. Good analyse.
cfs ,   fr and dz   (09.29.10)
Good analyse of the situation.
45. How about firing and committing peres?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.29.10)
he pushes his own agenda in a job that is supposed to be ceremonial only. We should fire him and lock him up in a home for the senile.
46. Abbas verse Lieberman
Ken Jurist   (09.29.10)
Abbas says he wants Palestine Jew-free and no-one says anything. Lieberman offers the same and Ynet is in shock.
47. Lieberman UNGA speech
Seymour in Berkeley ,   USA   (09.29.10)
Lieberman gave Bibi a gift. By making himself appear intransigent and hard-line toward the Palestinians, Bibi in comparison came out looking as a moderate and willing to achieve peace. All Bibi needed to do is remind the world (and Livni) that he, not the Foreign Ministry, has taken over these important negotiations between the U.S. and Ramallah.
48. Lieberman should stay, you should be fired.
USA   (09.29.10)
for writing stupidity.
49. Lieberman doesn't buy La La land peace talks
USA   (09.29.10)
Everyone says Ahmadinejad is a idiot, yet his country is building nukes and the US wants to negotiate with him. Your points are dumb and have no logic.
50. Avigdor Lieberman's speech
Sandra ,   Ra'anana Israel   (09.29.10)
He indeed is the only politician to stand up and tell the truth. I agree with everything he said, and it's a pity he's not the PM. I hoped, when I voted for him, he would be. As for our president, he should go home, play with his great grandchildren and write some more poetry. He's too arrogant to know this though. Lots of people in Israel would be very relieved if he did. He should be like the Queen in the UK, she's just a figurehead and never gets involved in politics. Barak, well...nuff said by other people in this talkback.
51. Time to fire Lieberman
Paul ,   Rishon, Israel   (09.29.10)
Our PM might be right to fire Liebermann however the core essence of his UN speech is entirely logical. Exchange of territories meaning Palestinians there - Jews here and without removing people from their homes. Those who remain will have to swear loyalty to their respective states – even Jewish settlers preferring to stay in a future Arab state of Palestine!
52. Ron Yishai - from your mouth to G-d's ears!
jonathan ,   london/ Israel   (09.29.10)
53. At least he has a pair
Rachmiel ,   Mburg USA   (09.29.10)
Leeby is saying what everyone else should have been saying for the last 60years. At least he has a pair, even though they're a bit worn around the edges. Maybe if more people thought and actually SAID as he, Israel would not be begging to be allowed third world status with conditions and an ever decreasing land mass. Israel has backed themselves into a corner and has to plead to be allowed out. This isn't even Israel's own doing, except being so silly as to trust Islam and the rest of the EU, which sIill hasn't gotten over not killing the rest of the Jews.
54. Ron...Bibi uses Lieberman as he uses the settlers...
Harvey ,   Chadds ford PA   (09.29.10)
Sad day my friend...Israel can't and won't go for peace...and Lieberman is just another card in Bibi's Dec.. Ron, he is just the perfect tool to put a damper on the negotiations so as never to get anything positive done. SO GET ready for WAR...
55. Fire LIeberman
Eugene Graczyk ,   Sausalito, CA USA   (09.29.10)
I strongly agree with this analysis. It increases fears among Americans and others that Israeli domestic politics have become dysfunctional and quite dangerous to Israel's position in the world. Surely Israel recognizes that this speech will echo throughout the diplomatic world and increase the isolating forces already inundating Israel foreign political efforts. Lieberman must go or Israel will find itself with irreconcilable divisions at home and a hostile world where once there were many friends.
56. Only fools kill the prophet......
Jaacov Baumann   (09.29.10)
.....but there are a lot of fools around.....
57. Fire everyone , only keep Liberman
Isaac ,   USA   (09.29.10)
This guy knows what he is talking about. Lose an inch of your soil and your enemy advances 10 meter ahead. The only reason Germany lost to Russia in WWII was because of Russia's vast land, not because germany was weak. Not even one inch has to be given for any phony agreement. This is PA in need of peace, not Israel. So let them walk out.
58. Bravo Lieberman
Valdi ,   USA   (09.29.10)
There is no question, that Lieberman is right. More interesting is, how the West is harming it self by restricting it's opinions to political correctness. It seems, to be political correct is nowadays more important, than telling the right things. Because of it, Europe is swept with Islamists, and USA is sitting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and most Israeli politicians are hunting a ghost peace. Now, let me tell you how a political incorrect politician would see this: Unless the Arabs need the peace, or understand that peace is better than war, there won't be peace there. Israel has only one option: Be open for peace once the Arabs ask for it, and till then, retaliate for every terror attack tenfold, especially those who support the terrorists. Syria, Lebanon or Iran should pay such a high price for supporting terror, that they would think twice before ordering yet another attack. Also, same as more and more antiislamic politicians are being elected in Europe, Lieberman will be after the next election stronger, not weaker!
59. TIme to fire you, Mr. Ben-Yishai!
Roman Vitkin ,   Rehovot, Israel   (09.29.10)
60. #38 Lydia
US_Exceptionalist ,   Boston, MA   (09.29.10)
