What can and cannot be done is all in the War Powers Act. Nobody wants another LBJ again. Israel & Germany and France will have to go it alone unless Congress approves or the USA is directly attacked.

Mark, I wasn't clear with what I was trying to get at. I don't think that a full out declaration of war is what needs to be done. I am sure the Iranian's don't want that anymore than we do. If they can't demonstrate that they are in fact making nuclear power for peaceful purposes then we can't afford the luxury of being idle until its too late. If you are familiar with the worm virus that attacked the Iranian nuclear power plant systems whoever did it (most likely Israel) has a pretty good idea of what Iran is up to and capable of. I think that the Obama administration needs to allow the delivery of the bunker buster bombs to Israel so that they can at least do our dirty work for us. That would be the best outcome in my opinion. I don't think the Muslim's would want to go to war with Israel, although the new peace talks suggest that it is more likely to happen now with growing incitement from the Pal's. Obama picked a dam good time to start peace talks... Anyway a simple air strike on the nuclear plant sites in Iran I think would make them understand we mean business. I don't think having a nuclear Iran would make anyone's life better. It would put our troops currently stationed in the ME in grave danger. Iran would also supply terrorist with nuclear warheads, they have supplied them with everything else so far so why not nukes. Also Mark I just wanted to say G-d bless your children and may he protect them in their duty and your family. I don't want your kids or anyone else to be put into that kind of danger where they can die, but sitting around and twiddling our thumbs and doing nothing while people who want to see mushroom clouds over US cities is just dam foolish.

I suppose Roosevelt also should have been shipped off to Britain, for daring to attack Nazi Germany. How many innocent Americans lost their lives in that "needless" war, defending non-Americans from Nazi aggression. The uneducated lot that wants to believe that peace is achievable diplomatically really needs to sit down for a long history lesson... war is a part of our sinful nature, and when an agressor like Iran threatens to develop weapons that can wipe us all out, we need to make a stand.

You initially contradict the whole of this article, but fail to establish a logical basis for the assertion that Israel wouldn't "gain" anything from the military option. The Iranians are considered the most dangerous to Israelis. You further claim that Obama hates Jews, a truely unsubstantiated arguement. The whole of this is under the guise of preventing nuclear proliferation, but really is the assumption that Iranians don't understand mutually assured destruction, or is it to prevent retaliatory strikes against an aggressive Israel? Its funny to me, that anytime someone doesn't ignore the wrongs commited by Israel, they must hate the Jews. Jew hate is just a catch all argument, and its BS!
