there are other ways to keep them from having babies - ways like taking care of them. cutting out their wombs is so cruel, painfull and causes menopause simptoms - at the age of 15!!! and they do this to prevent "shame" from the family! unbelievable! after they do this, anyone can rape the poor girls without worry of punishment - and that includes their fathers and brothers!!!

If the real concern was keeping these young women from becoming pregnant, it might have some validity. But if that were the case, there are alternatives to hysterectomies (such as implanted contraceptives), which aren't frought with life-altering physical consequences for women that age, But perhaps there's an even more efficacious solution. Why not skip the sterilizations and just go straight for euthanasia? That way they can eliminate any potential embarassment to the family permanently. Unfortunately, there seem to be no boundaries when it comes to the levels of depravity some of these people will sink to...all in the name of preserving family honor.

Who is the "authority" who declares a Palestinian girl to be "mentally ill?" If a girl suffers with a temporary depression (that could be helped through medicine and/or psychotherapy), will she be forcibly sterilized? If parents are unhappy with their daughter's behavior (for example, she converts to Christianity or is in a relationship with a man they do not approve of), can they declare their daughter to be "mentally ill?" How many Palestinian girls and women will be unneccesarily sterilized or euthanized?
