You might not have visited a shook lately but this is typical Arab market negotiations and yes - showing solidarity does hurt the negotiations, especially when typically Israel bleeding heart twists already set precedent with high prices for returned prisoners in the past. Granted, Hamas will not harm him one bit but begging for him won't help either. If you want to do us and Gilad a service, get your head out of your "Western" arse and be present in the Middle East mentality.

I hear alot about Gilad Shalit from Arab Israelis and Palestinians- many who have come to the Gaza border to protest for his release. You may need to speak to some Arabs to actually find out this information but don't go to all that effort since it ruins your bigoted opinions.

The more the family and bleeding hearts beg the more valuable he becomes to Hamas as a prisoner and the higher the cost to Israel to free him. From a family viewpoint they don't care how many Israeli citizens are killed and maimed by swapped prisoners.

I agree with this video it's absolutely true that his release is being delayed because Israeli's have made him into a national/international figure and Hamas realizes how it can take advantage of this to get it's murders back. I think the video is a bit late and even if people were to keep their desire to free him contained it would absolve nothing as the dice have been cast. I think he needs to be part of peace negotiations or a military option would free him.
